"Pura Vida was a wonderful place to stay. The food was fantastic, with a consistently high level of quality, and the beautiful surroundings made it a very relaxing place to spend time. We particularly loved the authentic feel of the accommodation, with its charming house-style architecture, as well as the comfortable beds. For divers, the location is excellent, and the resort is a great base for exploring the underwater world around Dauin. The bar was also a lovely place to relax after a day of diving. Overall, Pura Vida combines great food, a beautiful setting, comfortable accommodation and a fantastic diving experience."

"Atmosphere Resort & Spa, Dauin — A Diver’s Dream Destination My 8-day stay at Atmosphere Resort & Spa in Dauin this May was everything a diver could hope for — and so much more. From the moment I was picked up at the airport, I knew I was in for a special experience. The welcome was warm, genuine, and set the tone for an incredible week. The resort itself is a perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and tranquility. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, with a peaceful Zen-like atmosphere that makes it easy to slow down and enjoy every moment between dives. The accommodations were gorgeous and incredibly comfortable, and the outdoor rain shower was one of my favorite touches — the perfect way to start or end a day in paradise. The diving in Dauin and Apo Island was spectacular, but the experience was elevated by the incredible dive team. The dive center was extremely well organized and efficient, with professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly dive pros who clearly take pride in what they do. Safety was always the priority, briefings were thorough, and the entire operation ran smoothly without ever losing that personal touch. The boat crew deserves a special mention as well. They were fantastic — attentive, helpful, and safety conscious, always ready with a smile and eager to make sure every diver was comfortable. Their support made every dive day effortless. After six days of amazing diving, including the incredible marine life that makes Dauin and Apo Island so special, the spa was the perfect place to recover. The treatments were heavenly and exactly what tired dive muscles needed! And then there’s the food… WOW. As divers know, good meals are an essential part of a great liveaboard or resort experience, and Atmosphere absolutely delivers. Every meal was beautifully prepared, healthy, creative, and packed with layers of flavor. Fresh ingredients, thoughtful options, and incredible attention to detail made every dining experience something to look forward to. Atmosphere is one of those rare places where everything comes together: world-class diving, an exceptional dive operation, beautiful accommodations, outstanding food, and a team that makes you feel like family. I’ve stayed at many dive destinations around the world, and Atmosphere has earned a spot among my favorites. I truly did not want to leave! I’m already looking forward to returning to Dauin and diving with this amazing team again."

"We had an amazing day exploring the underwater world of Apo Island with exceptional Dive Master Alexe and the fantastic dive resort Team including the fabulous Shaun being super helpful for additional requests during our stay. We were made to feel super safe and comfortable with their high standard of facilities, good quality equipment, friendly, helpful and professional care, a most enjoyable, interactive, unique experience with the local marine life in the amazingly diverse out of this world coral reefs and thermal bubbles sand. We had 3 dives: Chapel, Rock point and Larghan, our dive master ensured our comfort and safety, with a respectful and calm, close interaction, offering amazing photo opportunities with the diverse marine life: Turtles, variety of fish including a giant Grouper, Spanish dancer and unique thermal bubbles rising from the sand. Both myself and Buddy would like to say the Biggest Thank You for the Great Day, unique experiences and treasured memories you shared with us, we would positively recommend you as a company to book with!"

"The hotel is located on the seafront. The grounds are cozy and beautiful. The restaurant offers a beautiful view of the sea, and the sunrises were very impressive. The rooms in the building opposite reception are very spacious. The food is delicious, the portions are large, and the dishes are beautifully presented. To the left of the hotel is a small, vibrant reef with lots of fish. The hotel has a dive center on site; we booked a diving trip to Apo with them; they had good equipment and excellent organization. Diving at Apo was very impressive. We rented a car and driver and explored the sights of Valencia: waterfalls, hot springs, and lakes. We went to the center of Negros to see caves and waterfalls. We really enjoyed it. You can call a taxi or tricycle through reception to get to your desired destination. Requests: arrange for a massage therapist to be arranged through reception to the hotel."

Salaya Beach Houses ★★★★★

"Salaya is lovely in most regards, and we would definitely return to Dauin. Pros: Gorgeous grounds, range of types of accommodation, friendly staff at dive shop and in both the restaurant and pool/bar areas, very nice pool and rooms with views, small/boutique-hotel feeling, and amazing, full, fresh breakfasts made to order (try the chia pudding with mango!). In addition, the 2-for-1 happy hour brings the total cost of 2 drinks down to about the level you would expect to pay at other bars or hotels in Dauin. Cons: 1. Prices for food, drinks, and diving are all significantly higher than at other nearby/Dauin resorts, and the dive pricing was not posted on Salaya's website, so was unknown to us until after arrival and discussion with front desk staff. 2. The dive trip to Apo had a further, substantial add-on charge for use of the boat that seemed excessive relative to other Apo trip charges at nearby dive shops. 3. On checking in to our Ocean View Suite (which we had chosen partly because it has a full kitchen), we were told there is an extra fee of $100 USD per day for actual use of the kitchen stove or range. This is written on their information sheet in the room, but we had not seen anything about this during our booking process or pre-arrival communications with Salaya, so we were disappointed. The kitchen also was stocked with exactly two glasses, two mugs, two plates, and silverware for two, but lacked any pots, pans, spices, oil, blender, cutting board, knives, or basic utensils that would be needed for cooking or even cold lunch food prep. Perhaps those are provided if you request to pay the $100 per day to use the oven or range? Dials/controls on the range controls have also been removed to prevent any use without prior arrangement. This all felt a bit off-putting, when most of the area has such an inviting, easy-going, and trusting approach. Though we liked our interactions with the dive shop crew and enjoyed the food we had at Salaya, the pricing for dives, meals, and spa services were such that we ended up walking a bit down the beach or into town to take advantage of other options in the area, and that felt like the best of both worlds."

"We have stayed at Vida Homes multiple times and I have to say that it is an excellent experience. The accommodations are first rate and very well maintained. The pools are crystal clear because they are attended to daily and the chemicals are kept at the right levels. I won’t go to a place with hazy pool water as it means someone is skimping on pool care. Everything is clean including the toilet/CR’s in Pura Vida where the restaurants and bars are located across the laneway. Food is excellent and there is something for everyone to eat."

"I had a good stay here. I got the standard room. The building was like a big mediterranean greek inspired villa. There is pool and a paddio with a lovely beach view. The breakfast was included and you ordered it from a menu and it was really good. You can also take a swim on the beach outside if you want I can recommend you to stay at this place."
