We stopped here on the Camino Ingles for morning coffee and ended up with freshly squeezed orange instead. The service couldn't have been nicer - we were offered almond tart free-of-charge. Both the lady and her son spoke to us in good English, very impressive and the sort of place we'd happily return to for an extended stay.

Recently stayed in this wonderful guest house in rural Spain as part of a six day trip walking the English Way of the Camino de Santiago. Our circumstances were challenging as we were scheduled to arrive the night of the massive electrical blackout that hit Spain and Portugal. We had not booked the dinner option, thinking we would get something along the way and yet because of the blackout, we were unable to contact our prearranged transport and were unable to contact the hotel to arrange for a meal. Veronica took it all in stride provided us with an excellent meal and Stella service. The rooms were comfortable with en suite bathrooms and charmingly appointed. There was a lovely garden to relax in outside. The morning breakfast was plentiful, way more than we could eat! I highly recommend this charming guest house. Kudos to Veronica for keeping it all together in the very challenging circumstances!

THIS PLACE IS A PARADISE. I stopped here for 2 nights on the Camino de Santiago. I wish I had stayed 4 days. This is a resort with a masseuse and spa if you request it. There is also taxi service to take you wherever you want to go. And, the meals are homemade!!! I was asked what I wanted for dinner and the owner went to the market to buy it and their chef cooked it. Casa Rural Dona Maria is kind of out of the way, but well, well worth staying. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. Just an exceptional experience.
Response from Property: Dear friend, We are really grateful to host you in Dona Maria CR, you stayed so far from your country and we hope to make you feel at home! We will be glad to see you here again!! Dona Maria CR.

Food overpriced and not hygienic and staff rude. Dreadful stay - not pleasant after walking 30km to be met with the staff here- dreadful food and as in middle of nowhere choice very limited which they are aware of.

We got dinner here and food had hair in it. When we suggested we only pay for food we could eat the owner argued with me for half and hour before I was forced to pay! Don’t stay here. He was nasty and rude. Expected us to pay for food that had hair in it!

A mixed bag. The accommodation is smart and attractive, but there's little around. No supermarket for 3km and the food at the casa rural is overpriced, and not great if other reviews are to be believed. There's a cafe opposite (Cafe Novo) but it is poorly stocked and may rip you off - check prices before committing. Another larger spit and sawdust cafe nearby is drinks only. Having read the reviews about the DonaMaria's food, we brought our own picnic, particularly as one room booked had a small lounge and kitchen. But the owner said we could not use that kitchen, despite it being an integral part of our room. They insisted that we eat in the communal area, which we did. But the owner sat nearby and proceeded to engage in a loud telephone call - disturbing and incredibly rude. So we weren't made to feel welcome and on balance, despite the nice rooms, we recommend you consider other accommodation if you can.

Great location right on the Camino Ingles with a bar/cafe directly across the street to have refreshments after a long day of walking. The property is lovely and we had a large room on the first floor with a separate area with a utility kitchen and a pull-out sofa. I was traveling with a group that was walking the Camino and we individually booked 4 rooms. Very shortly before the trip, the hotel e-mailed my sister and brother-in-law that they were canceling their reservation for personal reasons, with no alternative place to stay. Fortunately, they were able to stay on the sofa bed in my room, but it is very disturbing that the hotel would cancel a reservation that was made nearly a year in advance with little notice, no explanation and no alternative.

What a beautiful oasis after a long days walking. Juan was the perfect host. From a lovely welcome to a beautiful dinner to a relaxing long sleep to a brilliant breakfast. A flawless stay at a great hotel. Quiet, relaxing, calm. (Tip: no local bars or cafes take cards, so bring cash!)
