Barceló Santiago - Adults Only

Nice clean rooms, we paid extra for a sea view which was worth it. Food was okay and the different themes for each night was a good idea. The location is right on the coast, ideal for whale and dolphin watching. Most of the hotel staff were very rude (cleaners were lovely, receptionists were awful) and didn’t really care about helping us. We rented a car for a day and was told if we couldn’t parking on the street we had to park in the hotel parking. We didn’t know we had to book this and apparently it was all full even though the car rental company was supposed to have a reserved spot. Overall, I wouldn’t come back to this hotel again (or island, but that’s a personal reason). Rude staff, not worth the money and boring.

Myself and my two friends visited the Barceló Santiago for 3 nights over the bank holiday weekend. Our stay was incredible and we would definitely return. The hotel was clean and tidy and well presentable. The food was the best i’ve had at a hotel buffet and there was a good variety for everyone. I actually felt full after every meal. The staff were helpful and informative. The surrounding area was beautiful, however it is recluse and a 20 minute taxi to the main town. The entertainment lads were great. Special shout out to Lorenzo, Manuel and Joseba! These guys were great, there was a good variety of entertainment day and night. They made our stay 10 times better, they were constantly approachable and always there to have a good laugh with. The best entertainment team i’ve ever come across when going abroad. We enjoyed all of the aqua classes, especially the aqua spin. We stayed half board so found there was a few things we weren’t allowed. On the last day, we checked out at 12 as per instructions but then were told we were not allowed lunch before we left for the airport. This seemed a bit unfair as lunch was 1pm-3pm and we weren’t leaving till 4:30pm. We couldn’t even re fill water bottles. I would recommend this hotel better as an all inclusive. Overall, a fantastic little break, wish we stayed longer, sad to be home.

After years of planning our own holidays we decided on an all incl last year to Fuertaventura. Following that we said never again. Queuing for indifferent food with the only plus being the sun. Thought it must be better than that so went forJet 2. They were very good with our arrangements; the hotel had good revues so decided to go for it with half-board option. Depending on what time you turn up for food you may be able to walk straight in to the dining room but generally there was a long queue. You can choose lunch or dinner for you half board option. Salads and starters generally excellent. Mains were hit and miss and generally not hot by the time you got to your table. Puds not bad - ice cream excellent. This hotel is very well served with sunbeds and shade provided by umbrellas. We love hot sun but do our sunbathing under shade. Unfortunately, the wind kept the brollies folded away. The staff were adamant - no brollies. The occasional palm tree canopy helped with shade. Room was very good and staff excellent. Avoid Room 620 - the view is of some sort of large, white utility building - you can see the sea, but it’s not a sea view. Very helpful and courteous reception got a room change. The outdoor seating was nice but it got very cool after dusk. Wrap up. The outdoor bar was good. First night cocktails were accompanied by a nice nut and corn dish snack. Then they switched to crisps. Then at day eight there was nothing so we enquired to be told “there’s no crisps left”. After 10 minutes the waiter turned up with a bowl of jelly beans - yes, jelly beans - not the best with a dry Martini. I think we will return to an individual accommodation - Airbnb style and eat out.
