Armada Hotel

We popped in to the Spanish Armada on a recent 3 generation family (8 people) week end away to Clare for some breakfast. We were delighted we did ! The hotel was very busy as it was peek breakfast time but the staff were friendly and anxious to accommodate our party - we received a warm welcome and were quickly seated in the restaurant. The decor is fab - lovely beach vibes & super comfortable with a really lovely atmosphere - fab buffet element with gorgeous food such as fresh smoothies, fresh fruit & banana bread aswell as a fabulous hot food buffet - there is also a menu for straight from the chef (poached eggs, omelette etc). We received fantastic service, thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast here and would highly recommend to others. We will definitely be back to this hotel on our next break to Clare.

This hotel is a hidden gem. A most beautiful location overlooking the sea. The hotel offers such a variety within. It has three primary eating establishments, Aileens, Ocean View and more casual Johnny Burke’s Bar. The food is fantastic and so well presented. It offers a great variety and choice. The staff are all so friendly and highly efficient, they could not do enough for u. One cannot forget the people behind the scene the Chefs who are wonderful and can be so proud. A special mention to Iran the chef who gave a brilliant food demonstration. Starting with your booking experience, Heather, talks you through your requirements in order to ensure satisfaction a super lady. Booking in we were met by Mary the Duty Manager,Kim and Gosie, who again are determined to give you a fantastic welcome and ensure a happy experience. One has the choice of two bars The Ocean Bar and Johnny Burke’s the later being a real traditional bar with wonderful atmosphere. Here I have to complement Tony, a gentleman that’s so clued in, very engaging with the customer and so attentive. The only crib we would have with the hotel is that, they have not entered in the best decorated bar in Ireland for Christmas as it would win hands down. Well done Tony. In relation to the rooms, the hotel caters for all needs and variety, there presentation are excellent as are the housekeeping staff who are so efficient. One should read the history of the Burke family which is amazing and shows determination, I would go as far as saying if one wants to be successful in the hotel and catering industry and not wanting to fail, it’s a must read. The Burke family have created this wonderful venture and based on their history the have created a team second to none and for us to fault The Armada we would have to be telling lies. What a super creation and work environment. Well done to all concerned. We will most definitely be back since this was our first stay it shows the impression left on us. (James)

The armada hotel has no ventilation meaning they don’t have air conditioning. there showers suck. But the most important thing that the owner needs to do is ,to put an air conditioning system within the hotel itself. I have spent times there I can smell a sewer. Some of the staff are very rude ,and with that there is a lot of good people who work for them who are amazing. And I have seen priority that has given to immigrants, and supervisors you guys need to give bonuses to all of your employees if it wasn’t for your employees you wouldn’t have a hotel. There are people there who are supervisors that cannot speak English, but to me everyone needs to speak English if you’re going to hire someone to be a supervisor then they need to speak. English. it is the right thing to do.The owner of the hotel needs to have air and step up to the plate to have a better business, including air conditioning within the whole hotel. If I’m going to spend money there, I want everything up to par. They need new windows did the air conditioning and the carpet in the hotel needs to be replaced with different flooring.

I'm probably a bit biased as I'm a local but this hotel is fantastic. During the blackouts last winter, the hotel allowed everyone to come in and charge their electronics and made sure to keep it toasty warm. The food is excellent, and has been consistently so for years. I can only assume the beds match. The service is first rate. Everything about this hotel is worth it. Yes its expensive but at least in this case for an Irish hotel, you're not being gouged with a sub par service.
