The room was great, kept clean and nice conveniences. Perfect for a family of 4, 2 queen beds, a divider curtain for a small LR area with a kitchenette and a table that can double as workspace or dining. There were 2 issues I had, in unoccupied rooms alarms were going off at all hours (4:35, 5:30 & 6:30am) - when guests check-out Housekeeping should be checking and turning off alarms. The other issue was at the Front Desk. When we arrived, we stood at the Front Desk for about 5 minutes, I ended up doing self-check-in on the app and as I completed that the Agent arrived. Possibly in the bathroom, but if you are the only one working, put a sign “Be right back”. We went down to the lobby a few times and never saw anyone at the front desk, including at checkout, it actually made me question how safe the place is. Also, the breakfast was just ok, not typical Hilton standards and staff putting it out were not welcoming. Perhaps that’s why it was a decent rate, sometimes you get what you pay for.
In order to catch the plane near the airport, the hotel was changed. The night before, I repeatedly confirmed that I needed to go to the airport at 5 am the next morning. The front desk said that it was definitely possible. It had been arranged, but I arrived at the front desk at 5 am the next morning. The driver was not there. The front desk said that she didn't know where the driver was, saying that she would contact the driver again. I didn't call the message, I waited for a long time and there was no news. I was speechless. I could make an appointment with an Uber car to the airport. I didn't apologize at all! There is nothing around the hotel ~

Staff were amazing! Jordan the night representative was amazing and very accommodating based on what he was able to provide. He was able to help with a room selection that was better accessible for my 88 year old grandfather. We did have a mishap with our room where the lightbulb in bathroom was out. Due to late hour (we arrived after 9pm) the tech was gone for the night, so Jordan updated our room, however and I did mention this to him, the new room smelled like mildew and the carpet looked like a crime scene. There was literally stains everywhere and hair on the bathroom floor. The sheets had weird brown stains on them and apparently my grandfather’s room sheets also had a huge yellow stain on them that had to be switched out. We were in town from New York for a funeral for a family member so we did not have the time to change the room again since we were leaving the following day, but staying in that room felt very disgusting and NOT what was expected based off of the previous reviews. Also the phones in all rooms did not work and our clock in our room did not work. I specified all of these details to the manager the next morning before we left for the funeral including asking to have the room cleaned, which she apologized for and stated they would take care of it. Came back and nothing was cleaned or replaced (no new toilet paper, garbage still full and no replacement towels. Had to go back downstairs that evening when we got back) We had other family members staying in the Sonesta Morrisville location that we had to visit and that location was a complete 180 versus this poorly updated location. Sonesta keep hiring similar professional front desk staff like Jordan, but your house keeping staff and the location’s rooms needs a complete overhaul redo ASAP! Truly feel nasty after having to stay in that room and do not ever plan on staying in this hotel again.
Honest review: Bad points: My 11 month old was anxious to crawl after riding in the car, and the carpet looked clean enough. After 20 minutes of crawling, her legs, hands, etc were covered in dirt from the carpet (even though it was visibly vacuumed.) She had to stay in our arms or her pack-in-play for the rest of our stay. Also, the sink handles turned 45 degrees each time we used them, exposing the soap-scum beneath (just needed to be screwed down), thin walls allowing us to hear the couple in the next room and their guest discussing which sports channel to watch, a hole in the drapes, and scuffed furniture and picture frames. Good points: Absolutely beautiful lake and pool area! Delicious DoubleTree cookies, and very friendly staff. After staying at other DoubleTree hotels, I was surprised that the Doubletree group would allow this hotel to use the name in its current state of maintenance. Suggestion: Deep-clean the carpets and at least use a furniture marker to quickly hide a lot of the dinged places on the furniture and picture frames if new furniture is not in the near future.
The area this hotel is located in seems safe enough and is near Interstate 40, and the building and grounds are well kept. The hotel itself and our room was very clean. We were greeted by a friendly front desk person. We did notice right away that the lobby and adjoining common room was kept dark. The breakfast room is small and was very crowded and hard to navigate with so many people there. Food was okay but not up to par compared to other Comfort Inns or hotels in general. At check in we were told there was a $100.00 hold put on our credit card for incidentals that would be released at check out. I questioned this as I have never encountered this before. It appeared to be charged to our account but I was assured it was just authorizing the amount and only the room rate would be charged and the $100.00 released. At checkout the next morning we were told it would take 3 business days, starting on Monday, we checked out on Saturday, to have the $100.00 go back on our account. So they did charge the account and issue a credit. After getting checked in and changing into more comfortable clothes we went to the general area where the t.v. and tables are to eat a sandwich and watch the news. We found a child in the room watching t.v. so we sat and ate quietly. Later in the evening we returned to the room to play cards to pass the time. There was not a table and chairs in our room to use, which is usual. The rooms were dark, the child was still there watching t.v. and there was a couple sitting in the darkened breakfast room watching us. We believe they are the owners. This was very creepy. We found a light switch and played cards. Instead of feeling welcomed we felt like intruders. We later learned that this child belonged to the front desk clerk. He was allowed to monopolize the common area that should be for paying guests while his mother worked. Upon returning to our room we had a chance to really look around and discovered the pole lamp is missing a lamp shade and the smoke detector is disconnected. This was disconcerting. The bathtub had a Large chip out of the bottom and the imprint of a bathmat showed prominently on the bottom of the tub. These things show lack of concern on the owners part. The beds were comfortable but not pillow top like some hotels. We did sleep well. If you are looking for a clean place to sleep but nothing more then this should suit just fine. The price is about $10.00 cheaper than a better Comfort Inn we had stayed in, also in Durham. However, I would opt for the more expensive hotel just for the safer feeling and better care of the premises. We also have decided that we will never agree to this ”hold” of money again.
I ended up at this place because everywhere else was booked due to graduations that weekend. I'm giving this a 3 star only because the guys at the welcome desk were very polite. The room was on the first floor and well insulated from the noise, however, because it faces the highway I could hear the traffic which was expected. The air condition worked well and I was very comfortable. I was pleased to have a small fridge and a microwave and all the lights worked well, and comfy pillows. The cleaners need to clean around the outside of the bathroom tub because it was dirty and grimy. The drawback to this hotel was that the image of the breakfast area was very disappointing, and looked nothing like the images on the website. I arrived there at approx. 8:00 a.m. and there was absolutely nothing to eat (nothing like what was shown in the online picture). Continental breakfast? No way! The only persons creating waffles looked like a couple off the street getting some free breakfast. The coffee creamer and sugar containers were dirty-looking and there was no one managing the area. I walked out very very disappointed. I was happy to locate a small fast food place within walking distance where I bought some food and went back to my room. I won't stay there again, but I think this can be a fairly satisfactory place to stay for a short while if they update the eating area to look like what's really on the website instead of misleading images, and have breakfast items as shown. They need to clean around the bathroom tubs. The door has a security latch that is broken so I felt unsafe and had to place a couple chairs behind the door.
We visit our family in Durham quite regularly and this hotel is our go to spot. We do have pets and LaQuinta is good with pets The man at the front desk was very attentive as was the gentleman serving breakfast. Good go to spot

Very Good
GGuest UserI found the front desk staff to be cheerful and helpful. The rooms are comfortable but no frills. They are a pet friendly hotel, which I think is great, but wasn't traveling with my dog. You might request to be assigned a room away from the animal population if you would prefer. The breakfast is extensive but only adequate in flavor; still it does come with the price of the room. I liked mostly that it was located in the area of Durham I wanted to be in when there wasn't a lot of other hotels right around.
GGuest UserVery close to the airport, the hotel environment can also be cost-effective, health can also have a shuttle to the airport, if I come here next time, I will choose to live here.
GGuest UserWe booked a last minute trip to Chapel Hill for a local event on 11/13/21, and the booking process was pleasant and reassuring. The reality of the facility was anything BUT those qualities. The entire building and grounds are run down and generally uncared for - loose garbage, cigarette butts, and sticky pools of dark liquid in all the stairwells and walkways. Our room, 201, was clearly labeled as Non-Smoking but as soon as we entered ... the smell of stale cigarettes and mildew was overpowering. It was so bad I'd describe it by saying you could taste the smell through your skin! Nasty. We tried to make a go of it, but by 10:30 that night it was unbearable / unbreathable ... and we checked out. The night manager was very apologetic, and when we told him we were in 201 he literally said, he would ”never put anyone in 201” ... I personally doubt any other rooms were better based on the overall appearance of the hotel. The night manager also said he was not authorized to give us a partial refund but to call back the next day and speak to the manager, ”Nick”. We did call the next day and were told ”Nick” was not available, but should be back in a day or two, and the person I was speaking to could not help me. He took a message he said he would make sure ”Nick” received.... we never got a call back. We won't waste our money or time here again, and recommend you don't as well. *And I have to wonder if the high star ratings here are from paid responders. I cannot imagine this property being higher than a 2, even if you did luck into a clean-ish room.

DDante VGreat stay! Affordable, comfortable accommodations, quiet and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. I’m a woman who travels a lot with and without kids so safety is a big factor. Definitely felt good about being there and at ease with regard to our safety. Met the GM and he was a very nice guy named Phil. We will definitely return:)

格格睿荔思Look at the evaluation is not good, psychological expectations are not high. Check-in was good, although the facilities were outdated, the room was cleaned (checked carefully). However, it does not affect travel for a one-night connecting flight. There is a kitchenette where you can borrow cooking utensils at the front desk. There is a free shuttle bus to the airport. The driver is very nice and expects a tip if you provide good service. So it is better to have some cash change in your pocket. Breakfast is just some snacks and coffee tea, the snacks are too sweet.
If your a clean freak as I am. Or you a clutter bug you will see how filthy this motel is. Extended Stay on University Drive off 15-501 in the Bull City (I'm a Durmite) is not the ideal place for people not comfortable around people of different race. The steps leading to the room were nasty. I have l one word to describe: power washer.... Well two words. The rooms were nice and had lots of features. However even looked worn out. The room had no bath towels. I had to go get them. The breakfast they do proudly mention is continental grab. What continent?? IDK? However, the staff were friendly. Slow and understaffed, but friendly. The motel is a prime spot to be robbed or crime opportunities. My name is Chad Harris and I'm a Google high ranking reviewer.
