We have been regulars to the Maldives for over 12 years. We always stayed at a beautiful laid back island called Rihiveli which is currently undergoing renovation. In search for another island with a similar atmosphere, we came across Makunundu Island. After reading lots of reviews, I gathered that there were some bungalows with hardly any privacy and no sandy beach in front or very clumsy beach access. When making the booking directly with Makunundu, I specifically asked for a bungalow with easy beach access which was ”well noted”. However, when we arrived we were given possibly the worst bungalow on the island. Unless you wanted to climb over a tree trunk and sharp rocks, a blue pipe and some discarded sand bags, you had no direct access to the sea from your property. The only option was to cross over your neighbours properties to make it into the water. The sun beds were cramped into a shaded area with no space to move them anywhere else if you wanted to sunbathe. My husband went back to the reception and asked for a different bungalow, but the island was fully booked and no alternative could be offered until ”maybe tomorrow”. We tried to find sun beds to spend the afternoon but the handful of them in the common area were all occupied. We tried to get our free snorkelling equipment but no sizes were available for me: ”maybe tomorrow”. We returned back to reception to speak to the GM and also mentioned that we specifically ask for a certain type of bungalow and were told: ”We do not entertain requests from first timers. When you come back as a repeat guest, we will give you what you ask for”.... This was quite a harsh statement and makes you not want to come back to be honest. The next morning, we were prepared to leave the island and move to a neighbouring resort if no other option had become available, but luckily we were moved to a new place. The new location was paradise, we had privacy, direct beach access, a beautiful view. It made all the difference and we were the happiest people for the remainder of the holidays. The bungalow itself was also bigger and although not upgraded yet, it was sparkling clean and very comfortable. Apart from the unfortunate room allocation, everything else was perfect. Food was delicious with tons of choices, staff always eager to help and make your stay better (special thanks to Ismail in the restaurant and Mohammed from the housekeeping team). The island itself is tiny but beautiful and the house reef stunning. Mosquitos are an issue so bring along your repellent. Fumigation happens regularly but there are still plenty of them around. After a very rough and disappointing start, we had a wonderful holiday on the island and will definitely come back again if a bungalow in a nice location is available and guaranteed. If you would like to see a comparison of the ”beaches” of our and our neighbours bungalow, check out the photos. The discrepancy between the bungalows is huge and considering everyone is pa
This was amazing place, even despite coming in October during rainy season. Service was exceptional from the begging- person awaiting us on the airport, speed boat transfer late evening, with nice welcome and service (water/towels/wifi)
We arrived late evening, so dinner packages were ready in the room. All Incl package was nice however we missed some food in between breakf-lunch and dinner. Issue is wifi which was not working properly/everywhere. Normally i think its ok as we do not need internet on such vacations, but as we needed to work one day it was hard.
Again anyways. Great service. Hospitality of staff in restaurant and bar too. Also reception who gave us a chance of later checkout. It was very convenient as we travelled with 2yrs old toddler. Room was spacious, kept clean every day properly + water bottles delivered daily. Good snorkling trips for free provided daily.
As you can see on these pictures (non filtered).. this place is a Gem 💎 in all Maldives 🇲🇻 . Let me start by thanking the people there who were extremely welcoming, happy to help at any time and masters in anticipating your needs before even asking for it. There is a big diversity of activities that you can easily do besides chillin at the beach 🏝: water sport (@ADAM, talk to him ;-) he will teach you things you did not know) - DIVING (@Ashref, so knowledgeable and patient) - snorkling - Tennis ( @Barbara, a world renowned champion and an excellent instructor) - Art ( resin, painting…) - yoga - spa (@Evangeline, she was so perfect .. explaining the Treatment steps and meeting your healing expectation), GYM (@Joevan) and so on … Then, the food is whole story of success .. my god these chefs !! 👏🏼 BRAVO to all of them.. I tried reethi breakfast, tapasake, earth restaurent twice for its Tuna tartare (non forgettable taste), Rah bar lunch (the spaghetti .. thank you my waiter for recommending it it was delicious ) .. anyway .. just go there hungry 🤤 Last but not least, that BAND 🥰😍🥰😍👏🏼👏🏼, That Madonna on stage (Loulou), she is FIRE 🔥.. Thank you all for this in forgettable stay 🇲🇻🫶 Until next time 👋🏻

We booked our Holiday through Blue bay Travel, expecting a peaceful, relaxed holiday. it would have been great if all the work wasn't being carried out. This is the complaint I have left with the company and still awaiting a formal reply. I'm not going to let this go. if your off to the island I would suggest you get confirmation regarding all the work being carried out. I have taken many videos for sound, so that you can here the noise Ref: Eriyadu Island Resort Maldives – All Inclusive Booking BBT-100321 Dear Sirs, I would like to make a formal complaint with our dissatisfaction regarding the holiday my wife and myself booked way back on the 6th March 2024 to Eriyadu Island Resort at the hotel North Male' Atoll Kaafu Atoll North Male Atoll Maldives 08210 The holiday was booked for 21st November 2024 to 28th November 2024 for 7 Nights. On the 24th October 2024, we received an email from one of your representatives Kevin Hall. Please see Reference below. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for booking with Blue Bay Travel. We are writing regarding your forthcoming holiday to the Maldives We have been notified by the resort that they are constructing a new dive centre towards the centre of the island which is fenced off. Work will take place 6 days a week from 7.30am-5.30pm, noise will be minimal as no heavy machinery is in use. We apologise for any inconvenience. Kind Regards Programme Changes Blue Bay Travel I did ask if the work was for the whole of the holiday and Kevin replied. Hi Mark I have forwarded this to our Customer Service team who will be able to clarify for you. The work is very minimal it wouldn't affect your holiday enjoyment but we just obviously need to make you aware of it. We received no response from customer services! This was supposed to be a holiday of a lifetime to the Maldives, tranquil peaceful relaxing. Couldn’t be further from it. Upon reaching this lovely island it was apparent that there was more than a dive centre being constructed in the middle of the island. They were also building a new jetty, and refurbishing a couple of the villas. As we disembarked from the speed boat you could clearly see huge pylons be hammered into the sea bed with a huge digger. Quite clearly mechanical. The staff were all lovely and welcoming. Upon arrival we were checked in and escorted to our villa. Within the first day we requested to be moved as the room 259 was opposite an old concrete pier blocking our view of the sea, not to mention next to the diesel digger. The following day the staff acted upon our request and moved us to our new villa 241 of which we thought was in a lovely position. We visited the Blitz that morning to be greeted with this huge digger at work the noise was horrendous, this went on all day into the evening around 8pm. With bright lights from the digger and the workman shining directly into the bar area. We made our way to the restaurant to be greeted with the loud noise
The hotel is 45 minutes from the airport speedboat. There is no seaplane and there is a Chinese reception. The person in charge is very handsome, very responsible, the room is very good, clean and hygienic. Each room is equipped with a basin that can be used for punching. Preventing the sand from being brought into the room is very intimate and very user-friendly. I have two children in two rooms, and the extra children can have an extra bed. The hotel's service staff are very good, the drinking water supply is sufficient, and a bottle of red wine is also delivered. During the family's birthday, a small birthday cake is also delivered, which is great! The hotel water house is not the kind that I imagined to stick out from the beach. It doesn't feel as romantic as that. But overall is still very satisfied!

From start to finish our experience at the Oblu Sangeli was incredible. It was our first time visiting the Maldives and it was everything we could have wished for and more. We stayed in the water villa and it did not disappoint. The room was beautiful and the access to the lagoon was amazing. It was great for snorkelling and had plenty of corals where we saw baby sharks, manta rays and lots of colourful fish! We embarked on the turtle snorkelling trip and saw many turtles which was wonderful!
The buffet was great and we appreciated that they changed the dishes every day so you had a variety to choose from. A huge thanks to Chef Rahul who not only made excellent Indian food for us, but also became a good friend and was always so kind to us. Another big thanks to the waiter, Yathrib, who was so friendly and attentive to us and gave excellent service. This really made our experience even better. We also really enjoyed the fine dining experiences included in the Serenity plan. Both restaurants (just grill & just wok) served delicious food and a nice view of the sunset. A highlight for us was the pool as it was right next to the ocean and the view was incredible. We loved the slide leading into the ocean, that was a vey unique touch for the hotel and lots of fun at the pool party too and recommend you throw a pool party a couple times a week as it was great!
We really enjoyed the live entertainment in the evenings and especially loved listening to Dee & Jay singing so beautifully!
A highlight for us was definitely the excellent service from the staff. From the first day we could see that they were genuinely nice people and took pride in their job. A special shout out to the Sangs bar staff who were always kind and friendly to us. They made our experience better by just being genuinely nice people and their service was excellent! A big thanks to Pradeep and Lahiru who lead the team and always greeted us with a smile and made us feel at home. A huge thanks to Ibrahim and Madheeh who made us laugh everyday and gave brilliant service. You made our experience even better by just meeting you all. We will definitely return to the hotel in the future as it was the best holiday we've ever had! The Maldives is really paradise on earth! Don't think twice about booking to stay at this hotel because it's perfect!
We went to the resort for our Honeymoon, it was amazing our stay at Coco Bodu Hithi, the island just beautiful and incredibly romantic.
We originally booked a Water Villa but upon arrival, we were upgraded to an Escape Water Villa (a lovely surprise). The bed was huge and had the softest sheets imaginable, the view from our bedroom overlooking the ocean was divine, the indoor bathtub was two was amazing and we loved our own private pool. The villa over water is perfect, a few meters snorkeling we found baby sharks, rays, lots of different fishes and turtles. The breakfast is very wide and the service was fabulous, unfortunately in November the weather is not so good, but we had very sunny days. Thanks to all staff for everything. We would recommend this hotel to other families and will definitely stay again when we return to the Maldives.
One of the best resorts we have been to. Rooms are spacious. Service is impeccable. Food is great. Price is on the high side, but I still feel we got value for our money. Highly recommended.
The most beautiful holidays I've had so far. That's how I imagine paradise. Arrival Arriving at Male airport for the first time is an experience, the airport is on an island itself and after leaving the airport all you see is clear blue water. Instead of taxis there are speedboats picking up tourists. Kagi island is about 1h by speedboat away (which is practically the better choice for Kagi, since the distance is small and water planes mean much more logistical effort. If you never flew with a water plane and want to experience it, do it on the way back). When we arrived on the island, we were welcomed by very friendly staff and bongo music which was super nice. Maria made us feel like home from the first minute and showed us everything important before leaving us to explore our own place. Room We booked a pool villa in the sea which was beyond beautiful. The room is big and offers everything you need. Shampoo / conditioner is refilled every day, there is cream and after sun gel, you basically only need sun cream (also available on the island in a shop). The room has its own pool over the ocean and even though I didn't think I would use it, I ended up being in there every evening enjoying the sunset. Same applies for the bathtub, which was in the outside part of the bathroom, I spent some very relaxing evenings in there even when the weather was warm. The only thing to consider, the waves can be loud and crush into the outside of your pool, especially during the night this can be irritating if you have a light sleep. I usually use earplugs, so I didn't bother, but my partner struggled quite a lot. There are other villas with wave breakers in front, can't say if this makes a big difference but I guess so. The downside is the view is not the same with the breakers and for snorkeling it’s harder to get to the nice part of the reef. I would still go for the villas without breakers. Location The island is small but still offers everything you need. The reef is extremely beautiful, just jump in the water with goggles and you see all kinds of fishes, even some small sharks sometimes. As a diver I can say, the reef was more interesting to explore than many dives I had in my life. The Spa is great and offers various treatments. There is also a modern gym and you can participate in the Yoga lessons every other day. I enjoyed the lessons a lot, even as a total beginner. I already miss them, might start doing Yoga myself now. :) There is also a small diving center. The dive guide was basically always available to us, very flexible and cool. We went for 11 dives in total and we were not disappointed. All of them were special and interesting. We didn't have to worry about anything, the boat brought us directly to the spots and picked us up after each dive, the crew was very professional and experienced. Maldives are great for diving, don’t miss the chance! Restaurants Main restaurant and a la carte restaurant. We only booked B&B and wen
