We booked Hakone Airu under the expectation of taking part in an 'experience' and wanted to embrace all that we would be offered. Primarily, we were looking for a place to stay in the Hakone area with a private onsen and reasonably close to transport links. Hakone Airu delivered in all of these aspects and was a fantastic spot from which we could make use of the Hakone pass and explore the region. Directions upon booking were clear and advised taking a bus or taxi from the train station but we opted to walk the 15 minutes and take in the local shops. While the final stretch does climb uphill, if you are reasonably fit, it shouldn't be a problem. Check-in was very welcoming and after complimentary drinks, we were shown to our room which was perfect. The outside area with private onsen and views of the surrounding hills was divine and we enjoyed spending evenings 'soaking' in the atmosphere both figuratively and literally. This ticked every box in achieving the relaxing onsen experience we were looking for. Meals were plentiful. Breakfast was fit for a king and the western menu (with a Japanese nod) set us up for each day with full and satisfied stomachs. The evening meal was 'Kaiseki' which, as defined by Google, is ”a traditional multi-course Japanese dinner. The term also refers to the collection of skills and techniques that allow the preparation of such meals”. It is akin to a 'tasting menu' that you might expect in more elaborate Western restaurants. With that in mind, we fully expected a range of textures, tastes, colours and presentation that could challenge our palates. The meal did exactly that. Over ten, superbly presented courses, we sampled a range of meats, seafood and clever vegetable twists that both delighted and challenged our expectations. The Sashimi was a particular highlight along with the cleverly designed corn dish! A turban sea snail added to the adventure and is a great example of how the menu can push your expectations by providing foods you may not ordinarily opt for. Impressively, the menu was different each night and a delight to sample. Throughout our stay, the staff were outstanding: courteous, polite, helpful and went out of their way to accommodate. Thank you. We arrived at Hakone Airu with high hopes; these were achieved in every aspect. I would love to visit again and recommend it to anyone who is open to embracing everything on offer.

We stayed at the Hakone Hotel as part of a tour group. We had a spacious twin room with a view over the garden and part of Lake Ashi. The room spotlessly clean and was very comfortable. We had a comfortable chair and a comfortable 2 seater couch as well as comfortable beds. In the morning we had a beautiful clear view of Mt Fuji from the grounds of the hotel. We had a delicious included dinner at the hotel as well as a good buffet breakfast. There was a capsule coffee/tea maker in the room that I tried with Earl Grey Tea which was a bit strong for my taste.

Very suitable for family and friends to come together! A very comfortable hotel. You can enjoy the hot springs after registering. The service staff gives 100 points! Very enthusiastic introduction and assistance, special thanks to one of the ********* service staff and Malaysian service staff, who proactively and enthusiastically provided transportation suggestions. The hotel is about 5-8 minutes away from the Corsair Bus by taking Line J, which is very close and fast! !

It is an independent hot spring hotel. It is not a very large one. I estimate that it only has a dozen rooms in total. From the moment our driver arrived, we were taken care of very well, whether it was checking in or preparing dinner on time. At 20:00 in the evening, my husband and I had a sudden idea to see if we could see the stars in the clear night sky. , the two housekeepers on duty at the gate looked surprised. While they were worried that it would be too cold for me to go out (I didn’t wear a coat), they also brought us slippers from the store (by the way, you take off your shoes when you enter the door). Similar to bathhouse storage) the guest's shoes will be ready to send the guest off until departure. The private hot spring on the balcony of the room is so comfortable. It’s hard to describe this elegant experience. But in the words of my son and daughter, they will always remember the experience of having a hot spring outdoors with the whole family. There is still some snow outside that has not melted. It was so beautiful! The whole house is designed with tatami mats, but the two 1.8-meter large beds made it very comfortable for the two of us to take a nap. The children loved it very much!

I recommend Hakone Ashinoko Hanori Hotel. The hotel is very beautiful. The lobby has a welcome drink. However, there is no wild food nearby, and it’s good to enjoy the hot spring quietly. This package includes one stay and two meals. There are not many choices for buffet dinner, and the desserts are more attractive. The hot springs are relatively small, so you can enjoy the outdoor hot springs, but the spring water is like hot water 😂. The breakfast was pleasantly surprised, and there were more choices than the dinner. All in all, the hotel is very comfortable and the staff are very polite.

We were greeted by hotel staff upon arrival. We were not given the option to select dinner time, which was set at 8pm which was late when compared with counterparts. We were only given the option to change to 5pm on the subsequent night, which was not convenient for us. The arrangement for who gets to be seated with the forest view or not is unknown and strange. On the first night we were seated at a room without a view, which was stuffy and adjacent tables full of uncleared dishes which give rise to an unpleasant odour. The other customers sitting in the room was served food all at once encompassing shabu shabu, while sashimi bowl was offered as a buffet. We were offered a forest view on the second night. Food was served according to courses, which was average and sashimi offered was similar to what was offered in the buffet though in large pieces. Breakfast was better with Japanese and western foods available. Rooms and onsens were nice. Recommend only choose the room only option as food was really not up to standard when compared to other Japanese counterparts.

I was seeking a ryokan with private onsens and the willingness to accommodate my primarily vegetarian dietary habits. I chose Hakone Gora Byakudan and was extremely pleased in every single way. We were a little on the early side (around 2:00 in the afternoon) when we asked someone at an information desk by Gora Station to please call the ryokan and ask if they could pick us up (as we had been instructed). Within 5 minutes we were picked up and brought to the beautiful ryokan, removing our shoes upon entry. The room was fantastic. We were in ”hako”, just off the lobby. The space was perfect! And we loved the privacy of the onsen. Both dinner and breakfast were served in a small private dining room. They indeed served me a vegetarian meal with many courses. My husband had some meat or fish in his meal and they provided us each with separate printed out menus. It was truly fantastic!

Was here late October, Hakone is a beautiful area and it is almost autumn foliage season Rooms. 23 rooms on the property surrounded by old maple trees and bamboos. Two beds in room Hananome. Sisley amenities. Large shower area that steps out into the outdoor onsen which faces the trees, found it to be truly restorative as I felt a bit beaten down when I arrived. Complimentary mini bar (except for the champagne and Macallan). Dark wood furnishings in my room looked dated and room had very little windows and natural light @ the hotel. great service throughout my stay, although strange to be served welcome tea in a paper cup. Didn’t try the public onsen. High quality souvenirs in the restaurant and lobby shop. Meals in the gorgeous historic Mitsui property Food and drinks Excellent traditional kaiseki dinner and breakfast in a private room in the historic Mitsui residence (aka restaurant Momiji). Built 1925 but still comfortable (ie floor heating) I was in Japan for three nights and while this was not a Michelin restaurant ( tried a few during this trip ), dinner here was my favorite and my comfort food. I kept on thinking about how food is functional medicine and this place hit the spot Prices. On Friday, I had a break, so I hurriedly booked a plan for staying without meals. It is a mountain room in the pond building, within １ Person １ 10,000 yen. In the evening １７ I arrived at half past half, but the shops near Hakone Yumoto Station were almost closed. The correct answer was that I was procuring side dishes in the basement of the department store in Shinjuku. The convenience store was open. There are liquor stores and Lawson near the inn. The garden was an invisible room, but it was wide 々 and the scenery was good and I could see the mountains. The cleaning was well done. The futon is a style that you lay yourself, but I was grateful that you were prepared for a split, plate, and glass, probably because of the consideration for guests staying without meals. Coffee and tea were also set. It was good that the large communal bath and the bath in the room were both hot springs. The room was a unit bath, but I didn't really care. The next morning I took a walk in the large garden. I was able to relax. Hakone Yumoto is close to ８０ minutes from Shinjuku, and I think it is an affordable plan for train fares and accommodation plans for inns of this class. I want to go to stay again when I have time.
