GGRACEOur stay at Dali Xingmai Mountain and Sea View Homestay was pleasant overall and a good value for its price, especially if you're seeking a peaceful retreat in the quieter part of Dali. Traveling as a family, we were looking for a place that offered serene sea views, and this homestay mostly delivered on that. While there is some ongoing construction in front of the building that slightly affects the view, the surrounding scenery is still beautiful and calming. The cleanliness of the homestay was satisfactory, and it offers a good range of amenities. The kitchen, in particular, is well-equipped, making it a great option for families or groups of friends planning to cook and enjoy meals together. However, if you're simply traveling for leisure and don't plan to spend much time at the homestay, you may find the kitchen unnecessary. One thing to note is that there is no central air conditioning or heating system. The homestay provides a bed warmer (which works well) and a small air-conditioning unit in the living room, but the bedrooms can get quite chilly at night, especially during winter. It's something to consider if you're visiting during colder months. In terms of location, this homestay is ideal if you're looking to unwind in a quiet and restful environment. However, for those planning a busy schedule with visits to Dali's main attractions, the distance might be a drawback. The homestay is located in a residential area, and getting to most tourist spots can take 45-60 minutes by car, whether you're heading to the west or east side of Erhai Lake. There are also no nearby F&B stores except one small restaurant in the building next door so make sure you eat in the city areas before coming back to the inn. That said, if you're staying for a longer duration and prefer a relaxed, free-and-easy itinerary, this could be a suitable choice given its amenities like the kitchen and laundry facilities. It's also worth mentioning that this homestay feels more like an Airbnb than a traditional inn. It's situated in a residential building, with the entrance being a carpark and access through an elevator to a residential unit. There’s no lobby, service counter, or common areas. Instead, check-in and assistance are handled through WeChat. Despite some of the drawbacks, the service here truly stood out. The staff member assisting us was incredibly kind, prompt, and accommodating. Whenever we had questions or faced minor issues, she responded quickly and made every effort to resolve them, which helped make our trip smoother. Her attentiveness and helpfulness were a highlight of our stay and left a positive impression. While this homestay may not have been our favorite, the excellent service and peaceful setting make it a decent choice for travelers prioritizing quiet and self-sufficiency over convenience and luxury.

XXiaoxingyunailvxingThis is my second time in Dali. This time I chose to stay at Dali Anyu Hotel Chain, and the experience was perfect. The hotel is located in the ancient city. At nine o'clock in the morning, the ancient city is sunny and gentle, and parking is available at the door of the hotel. The convenience is beyond imagination. As a local brand, Anyu was first learned on Ctrip. When I saw the hotel decoration pictures, the simple and elegant style deeply attracted me.
Stepping into the hotel lobby, the quiet and comfortable atmosphere hits you, and the familiar feeling is like returning to your own home. I have lived in a small villa since I was a child (my grandmother's house is a building from the Japanese colonial period in Shanghai). The style of Anyu evokes my childhood memories, and a feeling of intimacy and nostalgia arises spontaneously.
The hotel's service staff adds a lot to this stay experience. Kelly and Xiao Yang are warm and thoughtful, their voices are soft and pleasant, and every word warms the heart. From exquisite afternoon tea, to the thoughtful turndown service, and supper (white fungus soup or hot milk), to delicious breakfast, every detail is handled just right. The breakfast was set meal, which not only avoided waste but also had a sense of ritual, which made me very happy.
We carried four pieces of luggage, and the hotel had no elevator, but the female employees helped us move the luggage to the third floor without hesitation. Their dedication and serious attitude made me admire them very much. It is said that Japanese people provide excellent service, but in Anyu, I felt the high-quality service that is not inferior to any international standard. Every move shows that they are thinking about customers.
The bed and quilt of Anyu are soft and comfortable. After a day of running around, it is really important to have a good sleep in such a comfortable bed at night. This trip to Dali Anyu made me full of good feelings for this brand. It is reported that there are three more Anyu hotels in Sanya, Hangzhou and Lijiang. I can't wait to go to Hangzhou Anyu to experience this unique beauty again. A high-quality hotel really makes the trip more meaningful.

JJamieOur experience at Pullman Dali was a mix of highs and lows, with some exceptional staff and several areas that fell short of expectations for an Accor hotel.
The Good: We were fortunate to receive excellent service from Ms. Eleven and Mr. Herman, who went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay. Their kindness and attentiveness, especially when our child fell sick during the stay, were truly commendable. They provided all the assistance we needed, making a challenging situation much more manageable. Additionally, the café staff member, Mona, stood out for her patience and friendly attitude.
The Not-So-Good: Unfortunately, the overall experience did not meet the standards we expect from an Accor hotel. Communication was a significant challenge, as many of the local staff struggled with English, making it difficult to get basic information or assistance.
The hotel seems to cater primarily to local Chinese guests, which greatly influenced the atmosphere. The breakfast area was chaotic and crowded, and the variety and taste of the food left much to be desired. While Mona was polite and helpful, other staff displayed a dismissive and arrogant attitude. For instance, when we inquired about some of the local breakfast items, the response was abrupt and unwelcoming, as if they didn’t care whether we ate or not.
Additionally, breakfast ended strictly at 10:30 AM. While I was still taking food from the buffet, the staff turned off the lights and removed the trays right in front of me without any warning. It felt extremely inconsiderate and left a poor impression.
Other Observations: The location of the hotel is convenient, and the rooms are decent. However, the overall experience may be more suited to local Chinese guests rather than international travelers expecting global standards of service and hospitality.
Final Thoughts: While there were shining moments thanks to a few outstanding staff members, the overall experience at Pullman Dali did not live up to the reputation of the Accor brand. If you are an international guest seeking a more service-oriented stay, you might want to consider other options.

When we got off the bus, the little brother helped with the luggage. After arriving, the winter melon tea made by the homestay was very delicious and had the aroma of glutinous rice. My mother liked it very much. The owner saw that the elderly liked it and gave two cups. It was so thoughtful. The hotel environment is also very good. The garden style is very design-oriented. You can see that the design is attentive. The Chinese garden is combined with modern art. The geographical location is also very convenient. In the ancient city, you can go shopping directly in the ancient city. It is convenient to enter and exit the ancient city. The homestay was newly opened this year, so it is very new and the hygiene is very good. It is very suitable for taking family trips or escaping from the class. The cost performance is very high, beyond expectations, and a very pleasant stay experience. Very warm hospitality and friendly host. The host share with us Dali attractions route during our arrival. The place is near to the old town, five mins walking distance. There is steep slope when you walk back to the place.
The room is clean and tidy with smart home facility. There are mineral water provided in the room, mini bar in the room also had the mineral water and cold drinks.
There are delicious afternoon tea, flower biscuit, night dessert and rice noodles for breakfast. Forgot to take picture of breakfast. The tea and coffee are really good.
Highly recommend this place if you come to Dali.

GGuest UserI stayed in a room on the third floor with a terrace. It can be said that there are large windows on all sides and I can see Cangshan Mountain directly. The experience is great! In the morning, I just asked Xiao Ai to open all the curtains and watch the mountain view from the bed. It was so beautiful.
The door has a password lock and does not require a room card, which is very convenient. The landlady is from the Northeast, very easy-going and cheerful, and gave some suggestions for visiting.

JJonathanHad a wonderful 3 nights here. The well-designed property offers a calm respite from the buzz of the streets outside. We had a room on the second level that let good sunlight in during the days, allowing us to sit by the huge window for tea. Though the toilet and shower was a little small, the stone bathtub was huge. Room was clean & had all basic amenities one would expect. We loved the Coco-mat pillows. The breakfast was a highlight every morning, offering varied & healthy options. Coffee was good too. They served complimentary night desserts/snacks. They didn’t have many staff but service was good and prompt, always ready to offer tips & advice whenever needed. This included texting them via WeChat anytime you needed something. When the caretaker lady found out that we were heading to the other JiXiaShan properties after Dali, she took the initiative to inform them about our pending arrival & asked that we be accorded good hospitality. She also helped to link up with the Dida driver when we needed to arrange the transport between cities. We didn’t miss Dali Ancient City that much, but we sure miss this wonderful property, and we won’t hesitate to stay here again if we were to pass by this way.

Health: New hotel, health is okay. But when I went to take a shower at night, I found that the conditioner was gone. It shouldn't be, the service of the new hotel is so inadequate! ! ! After calling the front desk to deliver it, the service staff still wanted to go in and follow up. It was already 10 o'clock, and someone was taking a shower at the time! Very annoying behavior
Environment: The appearance, lobby, and rooms of the newly opened hotel all look new.
Service: The service experience is very bad. Compared with the service of other Lavande hotels, it needs to be improved! The most annoying thing is that at the agreed drop-off time the next day, I was told that I didn’t have a car? I arrived at the hotel lobby at 9:15! Why did you make an appointment with me the day before? The plane took off at 11 o'clock, but the bus didn't arrive until 9:32. The driver drove very fast, but he got off at 9:46. But since I hadn't checked in or checked in my luggage, the time was particularly tight, and the driver said on the way that he couldn't miss the flight because he couldn't reach the airport. However, the airport is not very crowded. It is very crowded and the queues take a long time. It is very inconvenient to bring children! ! ! TT.W.LBooked the family room at courtyard level as I had elderly and wanted an accommodation which is easy to access. I also did not want to be hoisting luggages up and down and over cobbled streets in the old town and somewhere along the city wall so it is easy to start our tour of the sights around Dali in the morning.
Room: Simple efficient clean layout with open concept. Rooms are relatively new. Sink area is located outside the bathroom which is good. The beds are hard in my opinion but elder felt the bed was comfortable. Bottled water was provided everyday (left outside our door). Room Temperature control was ok and the hot water for the shower heated up quick and could maintain at a stable level which is a plus unlike some other hotels in Yunnan.
There is flight of 3-4 steps to room which is manageable for our elder as the room is slightly raised above the courtyard. We had an early check-in as the room was ready. The staff helped us move the luggages to our room. You could also book the entire courtyard for larger groups. The owner is building additional new rooms in the annex but the construction happens during the day and it is not noisy as most guests would be out.
Location:
It is near the South Gate (there is a local market nearby check the maps or ask the owner) and our local driver could stop right outside our accommodation.
We didn’t get breakfast from the bnb as there were food shops offering noodles, congee and fried dumplings around that open early at 7am. You can also make your way to the local market near the gate. You could also go up the South Gate for free to catch the sunrise or sunset view.
Touring around Dali
If you can comms in Chinese, you could message the owner ahead to assist to arrange for a car transfer from Dali Fengyi Airport or the Dali Railway station to the BnB. It cost RMB50 for us from the Railway station to the BnB. You could also arrange with him for a day driver to take you around the sight seeing places around Dali /Erhai Lake, Mt Cang or a driver to send you to Lijiang. We felt was more efficient and relaxing with an elder. It took ~3h drive instead of travelling south to the Dali train station to ride the train to Lijiang and finding a cab from Lijiang railway to the old Lijiang ancient city.
You could also easily catch a Didi or a cab which could be cheaper. A cab/car ride to the 3 Chong Sen Temple pagodas was about 10rmb for 3-4pax which is comparable to waiting for Bus 4 which cost 3rmb per pax.
