Absolut tolle Gartenanlage, in die die Gebäude super integriert sind. Essen super, Frühstückbuffett absolut reichhaltig. Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel sehr nah, ebenfalls Supermarkt und Post. Wer reichhaltige Unterhaltung sucht, ist jedoch in dem kleinen Ort östlich von Funchal falsch am Platz. Fahrt mit dem Bus ca. 20 Min, Endstation endet an der Promenade von Funchal, direkt neben der Seilbahn zu Monte und sehr zentral zur Altstadt. Die Damen und der Herr an der Rezeption waren überaus freundlich und hilfsbereit. Was schlecht war ist, dass das Wasser sehr stark gechlort ist und nicht getrunken werden kann - kein Hinweis dazu im Hotel und nur für den ersten Tag wird ein Flasche Wasser (3/4 Liter) kostenlos zur Verfügung gestellt. Die folgenden Tage darf man entweder im Hotel pro Flasche 4,50 € bezahlen oder vom nahen Supermarkt Flaschen schleppen und Müll produzieren. Quinta Splendida legt Wert auf Ökologie. Bei jeder Mahlzeit wird das Besteck und die Serviette in Papiertüten auf den Tisch gelegt, was m.E. zu viel Müll produziert. Dabei sind die Tische schön hergerichtet. Die Papiertüten stören das Bild und entsprechen auch nicht dem Standard des Hotels.

Wundervolles freundliches Personal mit einer traumhaft schön Anlage. Alles sehr gepflegt. Der Garten ist ein Traum. Das Frühstück lässt keine wünsche offen und auch das Restaurant La Perla ist eine Perle.

.Wunderschöne Anlage in einem gepflegten botanischen Garten. Phantasievolle Gestaltung mit vielen Aufenthaltsmöglichkeiten Gemütlicher Spabereich. Frühstück reichhaltig und lecker Netter Service, freundliche Mitarbeiter. Die Zimmer sind ordentlich, aber etwas in die Jahre gekommen (Reparaturbedarf) Der Deutsche Fernsehempfang ist leider schlecht . Da gibt es deutlich Luft nach oben Positiv anzumerken: Es gibt ganz in Nähe eine prima Bäckerei und einen gut sortierten Supermarkt. Darüber hinaus fussläufig 2 oder 3 gute und preiswerte Restaurants Ein Mietwagen ist empfehlenswert, da hier doch alles sehr steil ist Eine Fahrt mit dem Bolttaxi nach Funchal kostet ca 10 Euro pro Auto

Wir haben 3 Wochen im Jänner in einem Appartment mit großartigem Ausblick genossen! Lange Spaziergänge im dazugehörenden botanischen Garten, das ständig gepflegt wird ebenso wie die ganze Anlage, sehr freundliches und um die Zufriedenheit der Gäste bemühtes Personal, in einer ruhigen Umgebung im Zentrum des ursprünglichen „Dorfes“ weitab von großen Hotelburgen, vom Hotel bestens organisierte Ausflüge und Wanderungen und auch der Linienbus vor der Haustür.... Wir fühlten uns wie im Paradies! We enjoyed 3 weeks in January in an apartment with great views! Long walks in the associated botanical garden, which is constantly maintained as well as the whole complex, very friendly and committed to the satisfaction of the guests, in a quiet environment in the center of the original "village" far from big hotel castles, excursions and hikes well organized by the hotel and also the regular bus near the entrance.... We felt like in paradise!

Pour une dernière nuit à Madère, nous avions retenu cet hôtel car proche de l’aéroport et avec de bons commentaires. En dehors des jardins sans doute très beaux mais dont nous n’avons pas profités, quelle déception. Tout semble d’un autre temps, la réception déjà, l’accès à la chambre (avec une clé) située dans un petit bâtiment en face de la réception, 2ème étage, escalier éclairé par temporisateur 20 secondes, le temps de gravir un demi étage, la suite dans le noir avant d’accéder à l’inter du palier, la chambre grande mais style des années 50, sol en lames PVC, télévision mal placée, image neigeuse comme à l’époque des antennes hertziennes de mauvaises qualité, chauffage par un petit radiateur électrique positionné au milieu de la chambre avec câble rallonge, salle d’eau presque comme chez ma grand-mère, lavabo colonne, petite douche carrée portes coulissantes, … Chambre réservée par Booking, 150 euros la nuit !! L’hôtel ne vaut pas 4 * (2, voire 3) et la chambre ne vaut pas ce prix. (pour info, chambre 1300)

Gorgeous setting but dated rooms
Stunning gardens, pool and kitchen garden. Absolutely beautiful surroundings. The hotel rooms are set in gorgeous positions but ours (1116) was very dated. Felt a bit like a very large room in an institution! Bathroom sliding door needed repair and the shower was a trickle. Dirty seal on shower too. Felt it could be an amazing hotel given its layout and gardens but not sure what it would be like when busy. There were very few guests when we were there but the many, many loungers round the pool suggested a very different experience when full.

The hotel is inside a botanical garden so if you like flowers this is the place to be. We had a huge room with lot of space, access to the spa on top of other facilities. The hotel needs a bit of maintenance, but it is still a very nice place. It's our 3rd time there over the last 10 years and I'm sure we will come back again in the future.
