Riu Palace Kukulkan - Adults Only - All Inclusive

I chose to celebrate my 60th Birthday at RIU KULKULAN because of its location, activities and food options for my Friends and Family. We were totally amazed by the Hospitality, from the Bellmen, to the Front Deal, to every single Host/Hostess in the restaurants, at the pools, on the beach and especially, the Elite Club!!! Special shout out to Abby @ the Elize Club Pool The Buffet was our dining choice for Breakfast & most Dinners. The food was fresh and delicious. We ate at the Elite Club restaurant for Dinner our last nite together, I was impressed by the Menu, Lamb Chops, Steak & Chicken was cooked to perfection. The only negative for me, was the Seaweed on the Beach leading to the water but once I passed it, Paradise Book RIU KULKULAN, you won’t be disappointed Thank you RIU for making my 60th Birthday the Best EVER

The entire trip was wonderful. The staff were incredible, pleasant accommodating, just wonderful. I am a vegan so I appreciate the fact that they had so many vegetables and a few vegan options.

K Song New Jersey, United States Just came back from a 5 day stay at the Riu Palace Kukulkan Oct.27 - 31. The resort is lovely, as is Riu's other hotels in the area from my previous trips. The majority of my trip was enjoyable. However, our entire experience was soured by a shocking and deeply humiliating incident that occurred at the Steak House. On Oct. 30th, after an enjoyable dinner at the steak house, i got a call in the room from the steak house asking me if I took the "pepper bottle" from the dinner table and request the return if i did. I said I didn't. The next morning, i got an email again from the hotel's reception desk "....request the return of the pepper container from the steak house." To my absolute disbelief, i was accused of stealing the pepper bottle from the table. i was treated with suspicion, with the accusation escalating despite my repeated denials. the entire ordeal was embarrassing, causing a public scene that attracted the attention of other guests. instead of conducting professional inquiry, the steak house manager chose to make a baseless accusation of theft against paying guest over a trivial item. this demonstrated a shocking lack of training and customer service protocol. the experience shows significant problems with the hotel handles guest relations and it is a major warning for anyone considering s stay here.

OMG I just checked out and literally the whole time I was here I kept telling my wife how DONE I am with cruising. We have been all over the world and cruising is now in our past. If you want to fight for pool deck space, battle to get in and out of ports and pray there is restaurant availability, please continue to go on cruises. There’s literally nothing negative about our stay here The staff, the accommodations, the location, the vibe. It really is a vacation everyone should experience. I would recommend the elite upgrade, worth every penny. There is a dedicated pool and a restaurant for this upgrade. The spa was AMAZING, the cabanas were ALWAYS available, the waiters were coming by every 10 minutes to top off your drinks. The food and restaurants were always available for a booking and I had lobster and steak at least three times. Wow. I don’t know what else to say. I wish I had something critical to say about this place to be fully transparent but there was nothing at all I can even think of. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. Please don’t come here because I want to keep it so special and boutique but seriously come here. Thanks Riu for the most amazing and relaxing vacation.

We have travelled to many resorts in Cancun. We enjoyed our stay, the resort is beautiful, clean and the staff is great! My biggest issue with the resort is once you leave your suite there are exactly to restroom areas for the whole resort. There is one in the lobby and one for all 4 pools and the beach area! Very unacceptable!!

This is my 5th all-inclusive trip to Mexico. I'd like to start with the fact that the staff at the hotel are all fantastic. Great people all around. The hotel itself is very clean and being fairly new, it's in pretty good condition. The checkin process was fairly quick and easy though we were never given any info on the resort credits that were supposed to be part of our package. There is little to no benefit in paying the extra money to be in the "elite" club. The pools are lack luster at best. They are too shallow and heat up way too quickly on a hot day. The bar pool is by far the most useless. I can only describe it as a human soup bowl. The tables and water are at the wrong height be useful to anyone. There is a constant film of sunscreen and spilled drinks on the surface and it's just bathwater warm except in the early morning. The food stand by the pools serves probably the worst burger I've ever had in Mexico. The hotdogs are oddly decent. Some of the daily specials are pretty good. The Mexican chicken, and the BBQ ribs stand out here. The beach is decent but far from special. There is a lot of flat sand and easy access to the water, but nothing worthwhile to snorkel or swim to in the area. The buffet was just above "edible". Only the ham sandwiches at breakfast and the ice cream at lunch made it at all competitive with other similar resorts. Again, the staff here was great. The individual restaurants are all tiny and wait times can be long. Worst of all, they won't take a reservation at all unless you are Elite. Even if you are elite, they won't take a reservation for a party larger than those in your room (4 couples all in the "elite" club can not make a reservation for 8). The bars have all been decent, but this is not the place if you like Captain and coke. They only have Pepsi and that's just not the same. There are three different convenience stores only a few yards from the hotel (Circle K, Oxxo, and 7-11). All of them sell coke so you can have the real thing for only a few pesos. Also for you captain fans, make sure you specify captain so they don't give you some nasty well rum. The evening shows are about what I've come to expect from a resort of this caliber, not great, but entertaining enough if you are drunk. Will I return to this resort? Maybe, if it was free, but I'm not paying to stay here again.
