Sol Katmandu Park & Resort

We stayed at Sol Katmandu Resort for 10 days. While there were definitely some great points, overall the hotel side really let us down. The absolute highlight was the Kids Club staff and the Katmandu Park — I’d give them a 10+ rating without hesitation! The staff there were amazing, friendly, and made the holiday special for my daughter. Sadly, the hotel itself didn’t live up to expectations. Even our “superior” room was very small, with barely any space to store clothes and not even a chair to sit on. There were also no mirrors except for the bathroom one — so the only way to properly see yourself (even just to do your hair) was in the elevator! Housekeeping was disappointing too: towels were changed daily, but in our whole 10-day stay, the bed sheets were never changed, and the floor and dust weren’t properly cleaned. The amount of dust that built up was surprising. Entertainment was quite limited: only about an hour in the evening, and everything stopped by 10:30 pm. If you have kids and can’t go out, there was nothing left to do after that. Food was okay but very repetitive — especially for kids. One morning we even found mould on the bread at breakfast, which we reported to staff. Other frustrations: drinks served in plastic cups even with all-inclusive, plus an annoying token system. No complimentary water in the fridge either (despite all-inclusive) — instead, you’re charged £2 per bottle. The pool itself was fine, but the towel reservation situation was ridiculous. You officially can’t reserve sunbeds, but everyone did — so unless you got up at 6 am, you wouldn’t get a spot. We asked the lifeguard, who admitted they didn’t want to argue with hundreds of guests, so they let it happen anyway. Also, if you wanted fresh pool towels, you had to pay £1 per towel. Overall, the resort has huge potential because of the fantastic Kids Club staff and the fun park. But the hotel side feels poorly managed and definitely not up to the standard you’d expect for what you pay. We’d only consider coming back purely because of the Kids Club team — and even then, only if we could upgrade to an extra Katmandu room to get the full experience the hotel advertises.

The kids and I all loved the hotel and experience. The staff were all really friendly and happy to help with any needs or concerns, the range of food was very good and they would prepare anything else if you needed it (e.g. vegan or gluten free). The hotel room was quite small for me and my boys but it was nice and clean. The hotel itself was very clean and decorated well. The theme park, splash park and pools were perfect for the kids! My youngest loved the kids club and the mascots, especially uncle Boro and Chicken Nugget (from explorers)
