Next to the Black Sheep bar and restaurant. The check-in procedure is simple and the room is clean and spacious. It is on the highway and very convenient for travel

Stayed at The Lodge one night. Probably one of the busiest Saturdays of the year, also 32c temperatures. Our stay went as planned, but on a whim two days earlier we’d decided to book the Aztec restaurant (Curious Kitchen) online just in case, and got the last table reservation (6.30pm). When we finished our meal and left there were queues at the restaurant entrance and some people (not booked) were being turned away. We went back to the bar for a drink at 9pm and tempers seemed to be fraying, there was a waiting list for drinks. Not enough staff? As mentioned in other reviews and also for the main hotel next door (Aztec) the staff are all super friendly, polite and professional. The little onsite pub (Black Sheep) is lovely. The young girl serving when we arrived at 3.30 in the afternoon was charming and efficient. She was back to open up at 8am Sunday for breakfast, and was again bubbly and very professional. No AC in The Lodge. The smallish fan was OK but not ideal. The room was clean, modern and comfortable. The shower pulsed to very cold for a few seconds every minute or so. Weird malfunction. You just had to predict it coming and step away until it pulsed back to warm. Altogether a good experience, but seemed unprepared and under staffed for a full occupation first weekend of the summer holidays with scorching hot weather.

Booked the Lodge for one night. We just needed a close location to the Norman Scott sports ground for a 1/2 marathon the next day which was a 10 minute walk away. We were really only expecting a travel lodge type room, but the room and facilities were of a far better standard. The Lodge has it's own convenient car park, with the price included in the booking and it was situated in a quiet location. The room was clean and modern with a really good powerful shower. It had all the usual facilities, hairdryer, tea coffee etc Had a great nights sleep. It was a cold night but were easily able to adjust the heating to our requirements We had dinner in the curious kitchen, the pub part of the Aztec hotel and spa just across the road. The food and service were really good All in all a great experience and we would definitely stay there again

The check in process was shockingly bad
Long queues
First key was for a room already occupied
Next key would not open replacement room
Took 3 attempts to finally get in, in total took approximately 1 hour from arriving at the hotel to finally getting into a room

This hotel is a smaller hotel building linked to the Aztec main hotel over the road. You check in at the Aztec, this took a while I was probably waiting about 10mins to check in, initially I was told I could not check in early so I had to go and wait in my car. On entry to the Lodge it seemed clean and tidy in the main areas, the room itself was decorated nicely with good tea and coffee, hair dryer, TV etc. the bed was comfortable and shower was definitely the best thing about the hotel, super powerful. The main let down for this hotel is how noisy everything is, I could hear every door close in the vicinity of my room especially the bedroom doors being big and heavy, I could hear a baby crying in a neighbouring room, I could hear the person shower upstairs with the water making lots of noise from my room. I stay in a lot of hotels with work and personal travel, and this was probably the least sound-proofed room I have ever stayed in. It's a real shame because the rest of the hotel was nice and for only around £40 for the night I stayed I hate to complain. But unfortunately due to this I would not stay again.

The Night potter wasn't helpful. Didn't give proper directions to get to the room. We arrived by 8 pm but the room wasn't ready which was okay as the lady receptionist was nice. She advised us the night potter would make up our room. We arrived later and check in with him. He just gave us the keys, didn't tell us where the room was. We proceed to wonder around trying to find our room. So we asked him on the way, he said take a left at the door and it is just there. And that he had told me earlier. I felt it was my mistake and apologised. When i asked my wife she said he did jot twll us where the room was in the first place. I let it go and proceed to the door and took a left as he told me and we reached a first floor and still couldn't find it. So we went back to the reception with our luggage to tell him that we couldn't find the room. He then said you got to go out of the main door , cross the road and go to the building to the left which isn't what he told us the first time too.my 7 year old son felt that the receptionist was a bit rude and wasn't interested in helping. He could have clearly told us that we had to exit the building and get into the road in the first place. This is not what you expect after travelling 7 hours. Nice property but would not recommend due to the service received. The Morning reception/manager was great very helpful as he had to cut 2 new keys as the 1st ones were made just for 1 night though we booked a 2 night stay.
