This is not a hotel, it is a room right inside a pub. It was noisy. Would not recommend for family.

Amazing setting, really friendly and knowledgeable staff and great drinks. Will definitely visit again, liked it so much I went to their sister bar in Bristol a few days later! Cracking old fashioned. Wasn’t too busy on a week night so probably no need to book but imagine it gets really busy at weekends so best to book a table.

The room is above the pub and getting to it involves climbing some rickety wooden steps and walking across the roof terrace which was full of customers. We had to ask people to move from their table to get to the key code entry door and step over a hole/ gap in the wooden terrace floor. Inside the entry door is a hall with a few rental rooms. Ours was at the front and small but adequate. The room was noisy as music in the bar below plays until 01.30-02.00, we thought it would be quieter after about 23.30 but it wasn't . It was hot so we needed the window open as there was no fan in the room so it was noisier as a result. The room door was a bit small for the doorway so light came in from the hall and the curtains were thin and let light in too, so it was light all through the night. The shower didn't work properly as it was tricky to get it to a reasonable temperature and to stop or start it. So as not to leave anything of ours I checked under the bed which had a thick layer of dust mingled with toiletries that had been sitting there for a while. I felt it was dilapidated and needed basic improvements like decent curtains and shower plus some attention to care The website needs to make it clear there is music playing and the pub opens until late on Saturdays (and maybe other days) and that it is difficult to cross the crowded terrace with luggage. ********* site says there is ‘free on-site self-parking’ available but this was closed off and we had to park in a residential area some distance away On the plus side staff were helpful and friendly and the bed and linen were fine. Really I would like a refund as it was expensive for the quality of the place and the experience.

I stayed in Room 3. There are so many things wrong with this hotel it's difficult to fathom how they continue. I private messaged them with these concerns for them to either offer compensation or an explanation but they chose to ignore. 1. The shower has mould everywhere. 2. There was no wifi 3. There was no milk in the room. I know there was a note explaining this is to cut down on single use plastic but you have no issue with plastic bag coffee pods. A small recyclable bottle of milk should be waiting in the room. (see pictures) 4. The floor was filthy (see pictures) 5. There were hand prints on the wall (see pictures) 6. There's no car park. *********** states free parking but there is only limited time public parking, 7. There's no blind on the window 8. The outside stairs need a light. They are treacherous in the dark. 9. £84.89 per night for this is extortionate On *********** it was advertised as Deluxe Double Room with Shower. I'd like to know what was Deluxe about this rooms. I was extremely disappointed with The Dark Horse and I will never return

We arrived at the pub at the earliest time of 16:00 and the reception was hospitable and professional. However the problem came when we were shown the normal sized room. The bed was quite narrow and the room small. We immediately wanted an upgrade, but despite the availability of one superior room we could not do it by just an extra payment as changes had to be made via ***********. that means you have to cancel the room first and loose all your money on that booking. The second issue was the when using the bathroom a definite drain smell was present. We saw room 1 and 2 and they looked much better, worth the extra tenner. The pub is great by the way. So I would rebook but only room 1 and 2.

We booked this pub from Australia as it was on the way to Wales. I was not aware how dodgy the area was, there were people sleeping on the street, rubbish, graffiti and very little open in the vicinity. The access to the rooms is via the side entrance where customers can bring their dogs, we had to navigate through their droppings, up a set of steep stairs and then through a throng of people on the back verandah, we had to ask people to move so we could access the door. The room was clean and comfortable, thankfully. We asked if there were meals but, they did not have a chef at the time so there would be no meals or breakfast. Personally we would not recommend this pub for accommodation.

Met my family at Turnpike for quiz night. We had a great time, brilliant atmosphere, food was really good and we all had dessert too. Food is realistically priced and was very good 👍🏻 😋 Will definitely be visiting again soon, thanks to Chris and his team for making us feel so welcome 🙏

Although they gently warn you about the noise it is not enough! Appalling disturbance, you will not sleep before midnight. Whilst quirky the rooms are accessed via a strange upstairs back door and you are fully self service once you have the key. A nice pub if you like IPA or cider. The barman did not know if chardonnay was read or white.
