"The night receptionists were great, with excellent service. The location is in Zone 2, and you can catch a ride right outside the corner, though for a group, taking an Uber to the city center might be more cost-effective. The hotel's design meant that none of the bathroom doors had locks. In our first room, the bathroom door was semi-transparent with a large gap on the side, making it uncomfortable and awkward since there were four of us sharing the room. After speaking with the staff, we were moved to another room with a solid wooden bathroom door, which was much better. However, the new room's lighting was very dim, and some power outlets were loose; even their own lamp would fall out. The small cooking light in the kitchen was also broken. The towel rack in the bathroom was attached to the ceiling, but the ceiling around it was cracked and looked like it was about to fall, which felt quite dangerous. One day, I requested room cleaning and left a note asking them not to make the bed, but the staff didn't even empty the bathroom trash; instead, they left a trash bag for me to change myself.... There were only two tissues left, and they weren't refilled. When I went down to the reception, the staff said they could only make a note to refill them tomorrow, as they didn't have any immediately available. There was no phone in the room, so I had to go to the front desk myself to find staff. Each shift only had one receptionist, so usually, I'd have to wait 10-15 minutes while they dealt with other guests, which was ridiculous. It's not that the staff are bad, but they are severely understaffed! Also, because there was a kitchen but no cooking utensils, when I asked the front desk, the receptionist had to personally bring a set up... they're clearly too busy!"

"The location is excellent, very close to Southern Cross Station, which makes airport transfers and train travel super convenient. Coincidentally, April was the free public transport month in Victoria, so I took advantage of that. The room size was just right, with plenty of counter space and drawers for storage, making for a very comfortable stay."

"Pros: The room was much more spacious than I expected, very clean, modern, and well-maintained. I also loved having a Smart TV in the room. The service was excellent, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Cons: One thing I found disappointing was that there were no women's sanitary products or basic pain relief available, which meant I had to go out early in the morning to purchase them myself. The shower pressure was also quite low, and the water temperature was often colder than expected. Overall: Despite these minor issues, I really enjoyed my stay and felt it offered great value for money. I would definitely consider staying here again."

"When checking in at night, you need to communicate the password with the hotel in advance by email, get the room card by yourself, and there are cooking utensils in the room. It is also very convenient."

"Dorsett hotel is a great hotel, few issues, lack of parking or street access, no bathroom amenities unless you call reception and request items, breakfast was way below standard, at 9am, way too many empty dishes, no bread available, not worth the price to include breakfast in your stay, hotel has way to improve in this department. Cheaper to eat at local cafes than hotel with what was available. Not to standard for this kind of hotel."

"This is an incredibly hip Hyatt-affiliated boutique hotel located in Fitzroy. It blends in perfectly with the local vibe and offers a different feel from Andaz, another Hyatt boutique brand. While check-in is a bit late at 3 PM compared to other hotels, the 12 PM check-out time was actually a plus. The room wasn't huge, but it was fine for one person. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I slept like a baby. All the furniture, decor, and amenities were excellent, and the common areas like the lobby, cafe, and rooftop bar were all stylish and impressive spaces. There's no gym in the hotel itself, but they have a partnership with Snap Fitness in Fitzroy's city center, which was actually better as it had more equipment."

"We regularly stay at this accommodation for our special occasions whenever we visit Melbourne, due to our previous enjoyable experiences, its convenient location, and the added benefit of discounted parking. However, our recent stay was disappointing compared to earlier visits. The level of service has declined, with no greeting or recognition as returning guests, which we had appreciated before. We were also assigned a very small room, the worst we have stayed in at this property. While the location and parking remain strong advantages, the drop in service and room quality made this stay less enjoyable than expected."
