What an amazing hidden gem this is. Nestled on a hill top overlooking the marshes with Warehorn church over the road, this pub with rooms is a must for a romantic get away. We arrived early and had a drink in the bar, which is beautifully quirky, a welcoming log fire burning and a wide selection of drinks. We had booked "Niddy" an attic room with so much to give, a comfy bed, roll top bath, and so much character. The only niggle I had with the room, was the W.C squeezed into the roof space it was a little awkward to stand up and wee, but that's a small thing when it comes to such a great room. Requesting a quiet table for dinner, we were given one in a side area and again we couldn't believe it, it was super romantic and we had the whole room to ourselves. Our waiter Muli was so good, he was attentive but not intruding, and so funny, we haven't had many meals out and he really did make the evening. The food was excellent and the vegan burger was one of the best I have had. The location was brilliant, if you're into walking, cycling, birdwatching or wanting to visit local sites (rye was only 20min drive away) The rest of the staff were also brilliant, and couldn't do enough for us. We will definitely return.

Only a one night stay, but what a great place!! The staff are so friendly and we had a minor hiccup on the day we were to arrive but it was dealt with in a quick and helpful manor. After arriving we had a sit in the lovely bar with open fire and enjoyed a really good Romney Marsh Bitter. Later we sat down to a splendid meal(and you don't often see Kentish Gypsy Tart) and had an excellent local wine(Bacchus Chapeldown) Overall we couldn't fault this place !!

Stunning meal. We had roast on Sunday. Especially good for Gluten Free. My roast came with a Yorkshire pudding(that's usually just left off) staff great and very knowledgeable. Even beer battered fish and chips GF! As well as other choices. Another table wanted to take food home and staff already aware of not wrapping mixed food together and came out with foil to sepately wrap food!

Staff and particularly the manager were exceptional! Calm, kind, friendly and helpful in all respects. Our room was a design delight with added extras and great in room facilities… towels, robes very soft and lovely and comfortable bed and pillows. So lovely and quiet…. Awoke to birds singing and …. Quiet! Bliss! I should have checked the website more carefully as the kitchen closes at 4.45 on Sunday and no cooked breakfast on Monday mornings but this is suggested by the kitchen times …. Just so others are aware too! Bath was such a luxury snd nice bath salts left us feeling well looked after. It was a lovely stay and we are extremely grateful to the manager and staff.
