My Place Hotel-Anchorage, AK

This hotel saved my life late at night they were willing to give me a roomie even though it was not in the computer as available because there was a small problem so they gave me a pretty good discount I am very pleased with their service

Clean, well kept, updated rooms, comfortable beds and pillows, some rooms have kitchens. Excellent stay. Not gonna lie, the branding of the hotel chain turns me off but I was pleasantly surprised!

This is a complicated review because our party of 3 rooms (all adults) stayed at My Place Anchorage before and after a train trip (several days in between). Our first stay - a week night. We all checked in at midnight. No significant issues. Had breakfast at the grocery nearby. Our second stay - a weekend night. We all checked in different times midnight and thereafter. First room did not have any issues but front desk mentioned that the hotel had no rooms available (an indication that it was busy). The second room had SECURITY issue where the checkin key card opened door to room where someone was in bed. A new room was issued. No double latch system on door. Third room - told upon checkin at 2:00 am that TV is broken in that room and that ice maker on floor is broken. Had no choice - still checked in. Party of 4 adults had to go to hospital and returned at 4:00 am. SANITARY issue - Toilet had one normal flush then it broke. First adult took shower and the tub did not drain enough and bath water was over a foot high. All in room said it was just gross and beyond normal. For rooms 2 & 3 - front desk person was not phased. Said issues would be noted with management. That’s all. Plumbing issues were addressed in the tone of the customers did something to break the toilet. They were dealing with a medial emergency and were barely in the room so that attitude was not welcome. Because of how front desk handled issues this review is based off stay 2. Do not recommend at all. Safely and sanitary issues are of great concern.

Safe and clean The hotel has always been quiet when I was there and clean. I had read a review that someone said there was a bunch of homeless people around I did not experience that. Like every other major city there are a lot of homeless in general in Anchorage but this area does not have high concentration of them from what I have seen. The doors are kept locked this is not something that bothered me I travel by myself so I was fine with that. This hotel is clean relatively new the staff is friendly and accommodating. They have recently installed all new beds so the beds are a tad on the firm side. You have a full size refrigerator a stove top a microwave everything you need to cook a meal or freeze fish for your travel. ( no pots and pans) however there is a thrift store a block down the road where you can get pots and pans and silverware for a fraction of the cost and you can leave them or take them with you. I prefer this to an Airbnb because I have to fly at different hours of the day and night so I like someone seeing me head to my car. All in all I have stayed here a few times and never been disappointed. If you want turn down service or you want to stay at the Marriott then go to the Marriott. If you are looking for a hotel that is clean and safe and friendly and gives you everything you need for your stay including an airport shuttle, this is it.
