The location is average, the service is good, the front desk is friendly, and the room facilities are OK. There are indoor and outdoor parking lots. You have to walk outdoors from the parking lot to the hotel.

The Sheraton was a great spot in Anchorage. Their staff, Lyn, Malina, and Kyree were all very accommodating and helpful. The hotel is walking distance from most of the restaurants in Anchorage.

Like most people we stayed in Anchorage before our cruise down to Vancouver. I was a bit wary after reading some of the other reviews but it was absolutely fine for an overnight stay and if anything it exceeded our expectations. Special mention to the ladies on the front desk who were lovely and very helpful. Yes it’s very tired and the area isn’t great but when we were there the lobby area was peaceful without hordes of other cruise passengers while we waited a few hours to catch our scenic train to Seward and the convention centre where we checked in for our cruise was only a few blocks away. We wouldn’t stay here again out of choice without good reason but for the sake of saving the $300 difference between this and the Marriott for example - yes we would !

Kyree and Lyn made my stay great. Helped me find places to eat, things to do and we’re just amazing professionals. Really great overall staff.

Our team stayed at the Sheraton Anchorage Hotel during a military exercise, and the experience was outstanding. The staff was incredibly accommodating, always greeting us warmly, resourceful in solving challenges, and supportive throughout our extended stay. They flexed to ensure everything worked smoothly for our mission, making us feel at home despite the distance. Special recognition goes to three exceptional front desk professionals: Lyn, Malina, and Kyree. Their courtesy, attentiveness, and willingness to assist every team member stood out daily. If you’re visiting Alaska, expect world-class hospitality and customer service, especially from these three remarkable women.

We stayed for one night post cruise. The pros to the Sheraton were a VERY comfortable bed and a decent club lounge with helpful attendants and constantly refreshed food-both in the evening and for breakfast. Nothing fancy, but more than covered the basics for sure and the seating/views were nice. I'm a Bonvoy Ambassador and would have appreciated a note/welcome in my room, but there was none. (Doesn't have to be deluxe-even the Four Points gives me a little gift bag with gatorades and candy). I had requested high floors for the view and, out of 15 floors at the hotel, got my four reserved rooms on floors 8 and 10. The manager said that I had been pre-assigned floor 14 but that guests had 'extended their reservation'. Not sure why they wouldn't have switched them to another room, (and also, not sure about the other floors which she didn't mention), but it left me feeling like the status really doesn't matter there. Nevertheless, front desk staff were friendly and seemed to be helpful for other guests. Overall, I wouldn't stay here again nor would I recommend it based on location. Nothing that the hotel team can do about this-it's just about 4-5 long blocks outside of the desired downtown area. (30 minute walk to Captain Cook hotel/waterfront area) And in between the downtown and the hotel are some homeless housing/soup kitchens/empty lots and buildings. We are avid walkers, and did the walk two days in a row to downtown, but it's not close. There were at least 3 large hotels that were right in the mix and about 2 boutique ones, so I would choose those in the future. Anchorage actually seems to have a pretty great food scene (at least in the summer) and it would be nice to be in the heart of it.One other thing that was odd is that their premium rooms (jr suites-2 per/floor) are located...right outside the elevator bank. One has a partial view of the water and the other has a view of surrounding warehouses and a small local airstrip. Seems like a poor design.

The hotel lists itself as being downtown but it is a good 10 minute walk to most of downtown Anchorage. The hotel lobby is very nice and desk employees are very nice too, but the rooms are very much in need of refurbishment. We paid $600.00 a night for a room with two double uncomfortable beds. The only breakfast offered is a buffet for $27.00 per person.
