"I made a reservation for two adults and two children (ages 11 and 4), but the food and amenities were prepared for four adults. The app also listed the food as four adults, so I assumed the children would receive the adult menu. (The app doesn't allow you to select the children's menu, and even if you could, you wouldn't. However, I preferred the children's amenities.) However, upon checking in, the front desk clerk told me, ”We've accepted your reservation for four adults, so we can't make any changes at this point. If you don't believe me, please take a look at this order statement.” I was annoyed. When the children didn't eat much during the meal, the clerk remarked, ”They haven't eaten anything at all,” as if to blame me for my ordering mistake. I thought the food would be robatayaki, but that wasn't the case. The worst part was when, upon checkout, they went to the trouble of changing the bill to ”two adults and two children,” which sounded like an insult, even though the children's rate wasn't actually applicable. I was really annoyed, and insisted that the app listed two adults and two children, even including the children's ages, when I made the reservation, but they said, ”We haven't received any such order from the travel agency,” showing no sign of considering the customer's perspective. I think it's only natural for a hotel to check how their accommodation is presented on the app, but it was just extremely unpleasant. Afterwards, I received a call, and I'm not sure if it was an apology or not, saying that they had checked with the travel agency, but I wasn't sure what they had checked, and it seemed like they just wanted to put the blame on the travel agency. When I checked out, I told them they should have checked the app, but they said they hadn't looked at it, showing no sympathy whatsoever for the customer. They seemed to think they were always right."

"📍 Hotel Keigetsu 信州昼神温泉郷 日長庵 桂月 @ Hirugami Onsen, Nagano 🇯🇵 We stayed 3D2N from 13 November 2025 at Hotel Keigetsu (日長庵 桂月), and it turned out to be one of the best choices for our Nakasendo trip. The ryokan sits in a peaceful corner of Hirugami Onsen, surrounded by nature and traditional Japanese charm. There is a designated parking area exclusively for guests, accommodating around 15-20 cars of all sizes, making it very convenient for self-drive travellers. We chose a Japanese-style room with a private bathroom, and the highlight was the beautiful wooden bathtub — perfect for a relaxing soak in complete privacy. In the mornings, the view from our room was calm and peaceful, with gentle bird chirping adding to the serene atmosphere. Our stay included breakfast and dinner, and both meals were exceptional. Each dish was beautifully prepared using seasonal ingredients, and the servers were patient and friendly, taking time to explain each course and share stories about local flavours. Their warm hospitality truly enhanced the dining experience. The ryokan is within walking distance to the Morning Market, just about 10 minutes away, making it an enjoyable little morning stroll. There is also a FamilyMart right beside the ryokan, just a short walk away — extremely convenient for drinks, snacks, or last-minute essentials during your stay. The staff also introduced several nearby activities and hiking trails, and the routes are super visitor-friendly, making this ryokan an ideal base for exploring the Nakasendo area. The onsen baths were another highlight — soothing, clean, and filled with Hirugami’s famously smooth, skin-friendly hot spring water. Perfect for unwinding every evening. Overall, Hotel Keigetsu offers excellent food, warm service, relaxing onsen, comfortable rooms, and unbeatable convenience, whether you’re here for onsen relaxation or the Nakasendo trail. "Supper was a meal that was baked in front of me in the hearth, and the last was 19:00 〜. He laid a futon during the meal. The location was very healing at an inn in nature. The open-air bath was open until 23:00 and the large communal bath was open until 9:00 the next day. There was rinse-in shampoo and body soap, lotion, emulsion, and hair oil, but be careful as the air volume of the dryer is weak and there is no face wash or cleansing. The hot spring was a little thick and very good. I thought the age group of the guests was high."
