When you get off the bus heading to Tsuruoka from the airport at Science Park, Suiden Terrace is right in front of you. The room is simply designed but has everything you need and is very comfortable. There is also a bar and a library space, which is nice. We didn't have time to relax this time, but if you have the time, I recommend spending some time there. The open-air baths are switched between men and women in the morning and evening, so you can enjoy them both in the morning and at night. There was a wide selection of Yamagata specialties for breakfast, which was great to enjoy in the morning.

Best ryokan to stay during my trip, direct email hotel to confirm shuttle service from Kaminoyaonsen JR station. Stunning mountain view from our room, although the room with onsen bath, we still love the public bath, environment is very clean. Foods are on par and service and environment from the ryokan is really good

Even though we called the hotel stating that we would be late for the check-in and dinner as there was heavy snow in the highway. The staff postponed it to 730. However, the snow was so heavy, we lost our way in town and we arrived at 8:10. The staff saying that we were too late and rejected to provide any food for us. we had to walk downhill to the town to find our own dinner. however, on the second night of our stay, we noticed that the other guests were having dinner at 9:10 when we passed by the restaurant. We know that we were late, but I believed that hotel is in the hospitality industry, the staff have to be considerate to the guests. as we were not meant to be late on purpose, just because of the bad weather outside, we couldn’t drive fast. We were in the highway 2 1/2 hours without any food and drink in the hope of arriving on time.

The location is very convenient, directly connected to S mall, making it convenient for the elderly to buy food and go shopping. There is free parking. It takes only 5 minutes to drive to the gymnasium and museum in the city center

Great Ryokan and food. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this place. From the outside it didn’t look like a hotel for tourists but we’re pleasantly surprised after we stepped inside. It’s a beautiful Ryokan and probably the best in the area. Only complaint is there’s nothing much else around. Most of the restaurants are closed for business and not many shops around as well.

Clean hotel, location quite central, easy to find supermarket and CVS. We were trapped in heavy snow on the way back from a very bad tour. Hotel was hesitant to pick us up; we were cold and trapped outside and they were about to cancel our dinner even though we have paid for it. Also, the hotel will only answer your call between 09:00 and 19:00; what a lame service … hotel should be ready to answer its guests’ call 24 hrs, especially when you charge your guest over 170 USD per night per person!

The hotel is generally good. However, there is one thing that annoys me a bit. I chose the meal-included package and saw on other platforms that the meal offered was beef kaiseki. But I still chose to book through the Ctrip platform. The day I arrived, I asked the reception what dinner was and I was told it was pork shabu-shabu. I asked if I could change to beef kaiseki for an additional fee and the front desk told me it was not possible. When I entered the restaurant during the meal, I saw that everyone except our table was eating beef kaiseki. So, is this discrimination or a platform problem?

The staff were very kind, and although our itinerary required frequent transportation, they were happy to provide pick-up and drop-off services many times. They also booked the tickets for the Zao Mountain cable car on our behalf, and also booked the return tickets online for us. Upon departure, a dedicated staff member accompanied us to the station and communicated with the station service center staff in Japanese. They provided delicious breakfast and dinner, and also had a dedicated translator to help us communicate with them. There were so many elaborate and lovely decorations in the hot spring hotel, which created a quiet and calm atmosphere. The soundproofing was also good, and the bed sheets and comforters were very comfortable. Overall, we are very satisfied! This is a must-visit hotel! Thank you for your hospitality! 🫶🏻

The hotel has scale, although it has some history, but the interior as well as the rooms are well decorated! This time this room is the most expensive, but the room has a private garden and private bath, the family soaking in the hot spring is very happy. The room has the latest TV to watch YouTube and Netflix. The space in the room is huge, I believe it can sleep six people, haha. The hotel's breakfast is typical Japanese and Western, more stock. The hotel has two large baths, men and women can enjoy the two large baths in separate periods, which feels good. The hotel has lots of free parking...

The hotel receives non-Japanese people, and the attitude needs to be strengthened. Because the large bathhouse is repaired, we provide the wind for us to use. The station walks to the hotel for 15 minutes. Unfortunately, there is no dinner. I want to eat Yamagata Niu. There is a large bathhouse nearby. (There is a material), There is a cute grandfather (Ojisan) who will chat with you. The Shangzhishan City is very beautiful nearby. I am so lucky to see the cherry blossoms in January.

ZZoeAbsolutely lovely place. At first I thought I'd be uncomfortable with how spaceous the room was (I'm a very jumpy solo traveller), but the room was just so comfy with an excellent view. The heater was a bit hot, but there was an electric fan too, so all was great. The hotel allows you to have a free 50 minute private bath each night, and the private baths are amazing, able to accommodate up to five persons and with windows to let in the light and stuff. Excellent onsen water -- very acidic and very hot. Takes some time getting used to the heat, but once you do it's a heavenly experience. There are also public baths (free of charge) that you could enjoy throughout the night and into early morning (they're closed for cleaning only during 9-12 in the morning), one indoor and one outdoor, both connected to one another. The outdoor one is a bit small, but it's so refreshing to be able to flee from the stifling indoor onsen to enjoy the crisp winter air while soaking up in the heat.

NNetotrevinoWoah! This is one of the best ryokans we’ve been to. The staff was super attentive and could speak some English, the rooms were amazing (see the photos!). The onsen in the room was fantastic so there was no need for us to go to the public or private onsen downstairs. The hotel is located 3 minutes away from the bus station and conveniently situated near everything. We’ve stayed at other ryokans but this one was top notch! We strongly recommend to stay at this place and will try to come back again with friends and family. Oh! The food was wow, too! We had breakfasts and dinners included and the sukiyaki dinner offered Yamagata A5 meat which was to die for. Breakfast was also great!

AAnonymous UserWhen I made the reservation, there were only a few rooms left. I sent an email to the hotel to ask if it was possible to accommodate three people in a room, as I wanted to add more people, but the hotel did not respond. Later, when I arrived at the hotel, I had to ask my friend to book a hotel nearby. Because the location is very remote and we arrived late, the room we bought included dinner, but the hotel was unwilling to give it to an extra friend to dine together. They were also very strict. Even if we wanted to pay, they were unwilling to give us an extra seat to dine together. They even wanted to kick our friends out. When we asked our friends to stay in the room, someone would come to the room and knock on the door to kick us out. The experience on the first day was not very good. We are very polite guests and we don't make noise or disturb other guests, but it is hard to understand how the hotel treats guests. Still keep saying だめだめだめ

II JuWe had an absolutely an amazing stay in Tedoso. First, the hot spring there is amazing. We had never felt so relaxed in a hot spring before. The hot water and the cold weather is completely in harmony. Second, the service is sooooooo nice. They always welcomed us and out in a lot more effort than they needed to. Third, the environment is astounding. The Japanese style and the room is way beyond our expectations. The hotel is so neat and delicate, which made us feel like we’re in a whole new world. Last, the food is spectacular. We had food ranging from big and juicy pieces of sukiyaki beef to nicely cut and flavored sashimi. Our experience at this hotel is exquisite, and the price is highly reasonable, our family highly recommend you to visit Tendoso and give it a try. I’m sure you and your family would have a remarkable experience.

RRosina KimIt’s quite a big hotel, 3 buildings are connected and there are many rooms. The rooms are a bit outdated but still maintained well. Service was good and flexible. Transportation to the village is quite necessary when the roads are covered by snow, especially with luggage. They have free shuttle bus which is great. Best parts: 1. Dinner semi-buffet has unlimited alcoholic beverages including local sake, draft beer and wines. 2. Ski & board rental shop is right outside of the hotel. Although hotel only accept cash for the lift ticket, you can rent the gear (rental shop accepts credit card) and ski down the hill (20sec) to the cable ticket counter to buy ticket, pay by credit card. The location has lifts 5,6 and cable 4

BBaresiThere was a problem when reserving the shuttle bus. The hotel required that the shuttle bus be reserved three days in advance, but the hotel must be notified through the form on the official website. Two of the two items in the form were to fill in the phone number and hiragana. Hiragana can also be found on the Internet. I tried filling in my home phone number, but it didn't pass the check on the form, so the notification couldn't be sent. The online voice call using Trip.com only has Japanese phone recording, so it must have been after office hours. I once asked Trip.com customer service to help contact the hotel and asked for a real reservation or email address, but the reservation was rejected and the email was not responded to. The whole process gave the impression that the hotel did not want guests to successfully reserve a shuttle bus. I hope the hotel can improve this. The name always has the word ”international” in it, so I hope the service can also connect to international customers.
