We arrived very close to end of service in the restaurant but were made very welcome. The staff were friendly, informative & careful as we had caeliac & gluten intolerant people in our party. Our only real disappontment. Having offered gluten items like fish & chips & having gone to effort to make gluten free batter, then foolishly cook it in same fryer as other gluten products. The staff were quick to point this out & quite rightly too as this would make us ill. By cooking in this manner, this should not be marked up gluten free. Your staff could offer chips for various meals as they cooked them carefully in the oven. A small seperate gluten free fryer or even an isolated air fryer would give you so many additional options to offer to your customers. I know gluten free flour is more expensive but bought in bulk, it could be used for so many meals, again opening up choice for allergy customers & so attracting them to your restaurant. As with fish/chips all customers could eat it. No loss of taste. And such flour used in quantity would add pennies or fractions of pennies to meal cost. You attract the allergy sufferers, you also bring in all their family & friends & earn a reputation to draw in their custom & spread the word that you cater especially well for allergy sufferers as well as offering a variety of good quality tasty food, reasonably priced. I hope you value this feedback as I'd really like to come back as atmosphere, location & service was excellent

We stayed here for a visit to the Bombay Sapphire Distillery nearby, and we saw on their website that this hotel was nearby. We spoke to them in advance to ask about parking and check in etc, and the lady couldn't be more helpful, offering we could leave our bags there if we arrived before the check in time of 2pm and they could arrange a taxi to take us to the distillery. Upon check in, we asked about a taxi and the lady explained that there was in fact a bus due in less than 10 mins, so we left the bags in the car and we hurried outside to catch it, 10 mins journey costing £2, saved us money! When we returned from the tour, we actually saw our rooms for the first time and we were amazed! They were located in an annexe overlooking the car park, but they had a shared terrace with seats outside too. The room was exceptional. Comfortable, clean and well appointed. The bed was soft and the linens crisp, TV on the wall, a brilliant tea tray with biscuits too. The bathroom was really nice too, with a huge shower with great pressure, and lovely toiletries included. Having the outside terrace made it feel really spacious, we even sat outside in the evening sun with a drink. Beautiful pint of butter incidentally! The roller blind and blackout curtains also meant we slept very well. The breakfast in the morning in the main pub was excellent too, tasty, fresh and delicious, brilliant bacon and not a catering sausage in sight. The coffee was also very good. The young guy serving us was helpful, friendly and attentive but without being overly fussy or false, just genuinely helpful. We would 100% recommend this place, also an Ideal staging post on a trip to the south coast, and one we will probably use. I've stayed in far more expensive accommodation and vowed never to return. This is honest, comfortable accommodation that delivers on every level.
The Swan Inn

While all the other hotels at Southampton were very expensive during our stay, The Swan Inn was only 90£ for a room with an on suite shower. We usually stay at big chain hotels so weren’t sure what we’ll get, but decided to give it a shot and don’t regret it! The rooms have everything you need and a great TV, very quiet (especially considering the location), and the owner is absolutely lovely. Thanks a lot to her. We’ll come back if we are in Southampton again.

A great short stay here. It was a last minute booking and didn't arrive until later on but I was checked in and shown the room right away. The room itself was lovely, very cosy and had all the amenities I needed. The beds are super comfy! My only problem was that neither of the bed side lamps worked for some reason, but I did mention it on my way out, and they said it would be rectified asap. Breakfast was good, nice and quiet in the restaurant, I went down around 9am and got a table no bother at all.
The Westgate

Amazing. I love this place so much. It's not a far walk from the train station so when I got in late at night it was quick to walk to. The bed was so comfortable. I don't know if I was just jetlagged or what because once I hit that mattress and those pillows, I instantly fell asleep. I was just so cozy. It felt like I was staying in a friend's home. The staff was so wonderful. I felt bad, I was just this clueless American hot off the plane and didn't know what was going on. They were so patient, kind, and accommodating. I loved chatting with them. The pub downstairs was an experience to behold. This is a pub I would hang out at. I wish I could have stayed longer so that I COULD hang out at the pub more. The breakfast that was included was delicious. I can't speak any better words as to how wonderful my stay at the Westgate was. I just wished I took more pictures of it!

Myself and my friend visited this traditional pub on the high street of lovely Emsworth . It has an outside area too for seating . The food was of great quality with large portions and the choice was good , it is traditional English pub food . I had Mac cheese and my friend had a halloumi and pesto burger with sweet potato . We squeezed in dessert which wasn’t easy !! I had apple crumble and my friend had cheesecake , from a variety of desserts . Loved the food would recommend it and well priced too .
