The hotel is very warm in this small family hotel where you feel like at home. Clean. Full breakfast. Clean serviettes every day. Equipment according to the description. Comfortable bedroom. WiFi works. Hotel in the heart of Mariscal neighborhood near Foch ... Very well located in this secure neighborhood. The manager couple is in small care with us and they will give you a full of good advice. I recommend.

With neat & tidy common areas (the sitting-room like area on the first floor & the garden-like area on the rooftop) and also clean bathrooms and a ”cool water” refill, I had a comfortable 5-night stay at this place; and yes to ”top it all off” in my opinion was the friendliness of all those who ran this place (especially the owner who was just very friendly & obliging with my inquiries and who also invited me for some evening meal on my first day). Just somewhat on the downside though was that there was ”no breakfast” at this place, but yes at just a very short walk from here (to the left after going down the stairs followed by another left at the end of the block) is a small restaurant for a ”quite filling” breakfast (and for a very reasonable price of just about 4 US$); and actually also just directly across the street from that one for breakfast is one which is pretty great for dinner (a Chinese restaurant where I actually had all my dinners during my stay). And apart from food, for toiletry items & such are a number of convenience-type stores right around this hostel on the big street 10 de Agosto Avenue right in front of this place (and can also get from this place itself things like small bars of bath soap for like 50 cents). And although not in close proximity to any sightseeing site (except the ”fairly sizeable” Parque El Ejido which is just directly across Av. 10 de Agosto from this hostel), at just about a 15-minute walk away (to the right after coming down the hostel stairs to the street) is the city's ”largest cathedral” Basilica del Voto Nacional (with ”pretty comprehensive” city views from its 3 towers) with a further 15-to-20-minute walk from that cathedral to the city's ”main plaza” Plaza Grande in Old Town (just an ”ideal area” to spend a whole day along its medium-to-narrow streets lined with heritage-styled buildings); and for just about 6 US$ by taking a taxi in front of this hostel is to the top of El Panecillo Hill with the big Virgin Statue overlooking the city (a site totally worthwhile for ”high-and-wide” panoramic views of the city in pretty much all directions from up there); and also in the vicinity of this hostel (just about a 5-minute walk) is the bus stop for the ”direct bus” to Mitad del Mundo (the ride of just about an hour to the stop right outside that ”huge compound” with the big Equator Monument & many other smaller structures inside). And yes last but not least, having arrived in Quito on like a midnight flight, I'm just really ”quite grateful” to this hostel for its Airport pick-up service (for about 30 US$) & the 24-hour check-in availability.

Viajero Quito Hostel

My fiancé and I arrived at this hostel in the afternoon of January 9th when the conflict and city lockdown occurred. We had absolutely no idea what was going on before we arrived, but the staff at Viajero made sure we were safe getting to the hostel as well as being inside. They explained the situation to us and our options and ensured we would be completely safe within the hostel. They did an amazing job of monitoring who was coming and going and making sure only guests who were leaving to go to the airport were allowed out. We did not receive a welcome drink or breakfast tickets that day, but with everything going on we completely understood. Viajero staff did an amazing job of keeping everyone in the hostel occupied that night with updated information, a chocolate tasting, plenty of drinks and food from the kitchen. The restaurant was very nice. The breakfast was $4 and included cereal, juice, yogurt and granola, fruit, and a main meal usually pancakes or eggs. We were not explained the breakfast tickets when we checked in, but we were okay to pay cash that morning when we ate. Dinner was not our favorite, but there was nowhere else to go. The nachos have toppings but no melted cheese or salsa. The next morning, we were told that the military stopped by and said the area was safe and we were okay to walk around again. Viajero staff was more than willing to call La Basilica and Mitad del Mundo for us to make sure they were still open. They were also very helpful in advising us to be back before 6pm and which areas we needed to take a taxi or the best way to get to La Ronda at night for dinner. We stayed in the room right above the entrance to the hostel which was very big and had a balcony and private bathroom. Unfortunately, our balcony was closed for us (there were just some doors closed that we could open but we did not want to.) This would've been a really cool view to have but did place us very close to the street. There is a bus route that runs right in front of the hostel, and it could be quite loud at night or in the early morning 5:30/6 am. The bathroom was very clean and shower was warm. Overall, the hostel staff was very friendly and helpful. They made sure we were safe our entire stay. The cats fight in the garden but sometimes like each other and are very cute. The hostel was clean, organized, and we met some amazing people here!

Such a lovely place and lovely staff. Stayed here for 3 different bookings and everything was lovely not until i left a small plastic ziplock bag with the security guard 28th of Aug 5am on my flight to Galapagos. It has atleast 3 sets of earrings inside, medications, and some other things. I know its my fault too why i left my valuables but i left it with the staff. When i came back he said he doesnt know. I asked the people from the tour company for help. I asked if he’s the guard on duty on aug 28 early AM coz there’s only one and they said they dont know. Whoever has it, i hope karma gets you. Otherwise lovely place!

Very convenient to the airport, and you can arrange shuttle/taxi service to and from the airport through the hotel for $10 each way. They were very responsive through *********** messaging and are so friendly in person. The included breakfast is excellent, and you can also have dinner at a reasonable additional cost—just let them know at breakfast if you'll want dinner that night. I loved my little room! Very cozy, and WiFi worked well. The property is lovely to spend time on. It's warmer here than in the actual city of Quito, so the pool is a nice perk, and they have a quiet, peaceful gazebo that was pleasant to sit and read and journal in. There's a sweet little pond near the main building with interesting-looking ducks. A step outside of the property takes you to nice views of a deep gorge cut by a river. This is a family-run business, and it was so nice to get to meet all of them—including the cat! Not everyone there speaks English, so if you don't know Spanish well, be prepared with Google Translate or similar. I look forward to staying at Hosteria Colibri Aeropuerto again in the future. You're close to the airport, so it's only natural that once in a while you'll hear the loud roar of an airplane engine—but they didn't come by as frequently as I'd have thought, and the sleeping hours were quiet. During the day, it was pretty cool to watch the planes flying overhead.
