The hotel located in the next station from kinugawa onsen. I have booked one night here. The hotel provided japanese gown in room for yukata to all guests. Badly they provide male apparel for us. The staff who saw always gossip very bad experience.
However, Staff at breakfast floor is very nice. He can't speak English but I feel his kindness.
This is an absolutely fantastic hotel, definitely a 5/5! The staff were incredibly helpful and provided excellent service. The location is perfect, and the facilities are comprehensive. The food was delicious, especially the dinner buffet which even featured crab legs. The ambiance was wonderful. You could easily spend your entire trip just enjoying the hotel, and it would be thoroughly worthwhile. It offers incredible value for money; the quality far exceeds the reasonable price. We've stayed here many times, and each visit has been consistently impressive. We've never been disappointed and will definitely be back again. We genuinely love this hotel!
The food was very good. Dinners were excellent, served to us in a private room. The outdoor.Onsen Was a pleasure. Travelers should be aware that this hotel is not located near the fabulous temples And shrines of Nikko. Instead, it takes two local trains to get there. The hotel has wonderful views of the river but the area is overbuilt. So pluses and minuses.
The hotel was very strict about its check out policy.
Having read both the good and bad reviews, I visited with mixed expectations and trepidation. I figured a few things would be ok, considering the price included two meals and it was a weekend during the autumn foliage season, but I was pleasantly surprised.
The owner's service was simply wonderful. He was polite, kind, and humorous, and he even gave me information about traffic congestion and recommended local spots.
The hotel itself wasn't new, but it was well-maintained, and there was an open-air bath in my room, so although I didn't try out the outdoor baths, the bath was nice. The only problem I had was that I had to walk up and down quite a few stairs to get to my room, and wearing slippers and socks made it difficult to walk.
All the food was delicious, too.
I'd definitely stay at this hotel again if I visit Nikko.
Amazing experience out in the woods. Perfect for families and couples as you can go into onsen together. Women typically wear a towel in the mixed onsen, while men use a small towel for modesty while walking between baths. Lunch is available in the main hall. Stunning breakfast and dinner in dining room. Waterfall right next to the outdoor baths, great view.
We had a wonderful stay at Kamenoi Hotel! The hotel is conveniently located right in front of the lake (<1 min walk from the 湖畔前 bus stop). The rooms were very clean and comfortable, amenities were great as well (indoor and outdoor onsen, free ramen during supper time). Do note that there is no shower in the room.
This was the most satisfying hotel experience of our trip to Japan. From the moment we were welcomed at the entrance to our final farewell wave as the shuttle bus departed, every detail was impeccable. The rooms, dining, and hot springs were all absolutely faultless.
Been visiting family in Tokyo for 6 weeks and finished our holiday with 2 night stay in Nikko. What a wonderful place to end our time in Japan.
Hotel beautiful, service impeccable, food delicious and two perfect old fashion and sidewinder cocktails mixed in the cosy bar.
Look forward to hopefully returning next year .
The hosts were friendly.
They let us leave our suitcase until check-in, and they even carried it to our room themselves.
Breakfast is at 8:00 AM, dinner at 6:00 PM. Dinner was so filling, we barely made it 😅
We were there during peak season, late October, and to get to the lake, you have to take a bus from the train station.
So, you have to go to the train station first, then take the right bus. There's a bus stop (number 14) right outside the hotel, but the bus passes by because it's full.
We had a room with a private onsen, which was amazing.
We traveled to Nikko with our family. We found this B&B very friendly. We ordered dinner and breakfast, which were very delicious. The staff was very considerate. Although the room was on the first floor, the staff helped carry the suitcase to the door of the room. It was facing the sea view and very quiet at night. If I come to Nikko again, I will stay one more night.

Very Good
NNieva MayThe place is a 25-30 minute walk from the Tobu Nikko station, but you can actually take bus going there. However we didn't know the buses only run until 3 in the afternoon so we had no choice but to walk an uphill road. However it was a very fun experience and the hike was worth it as soon as we were able to take a rest in this humble pension house. The owner was very accommodating, gave us strawberry ice cream and even offered us a ride to the station the next morning. I would say that this place gave us the best definition of ”omotenashi”. Someday when we go back in Nikko , we'll surely stay here once again.
GGuest UserThe guesthouse is quite a way from Nikko town (10-15 mins by bus / 1 hour walk) but is in a good location for getting to the shrines or to Lake Ashi - there's a bus stop close by. The guesthouse was homely and had 2 private onsen. Our room was comfortable enough although the en-suite was very tiny! The host was welcoming but didn't speak any English which meant we had to communicate by translating on our phones. We booked to have breakfast at the guesthouse, but didn't realise that for booking the dinner we needed to give 24 hours+ notice so missed out!
EEthan the travelerWonderful new guesthouse. Bring your own towel or buy one for 200 yen. Very few rooms so onsen isn't crowded. We cooked in their kitchen every night - they have free oil/spices/sauces leftover from previous guests. There is a fishing / bbq activity business behind the hotel you should check out. The only negatives are the beds are a bit hard. Ask for an extra cushion if the pull out futon is too hard on the twin beds. You can get blankets from b1 floor if you're cold at night. The hotel is run by a 40s guy trying to revitalize the area.
MMaKKaZzzExcellent price-performance ratio hotel with the best logistics you can have in Kinugawa. The facilities with garden are fresh, service is top grade. As for onsen, it is separated, but it has only one bath, which is expected from tiny hotels.
The only little nuisance you can encounter is the late night noise coming from opening doors.
Overall the experience was outstanding, I will choose this place again.
AavlatkaIt is far from Tobu Niko station and relatively close to the main attractions. Of the pluses, two private onsens can be accommodated in two or three. One is laid out with a tile, the other is stone (used by a great demand, understandable case). If you take the onsen, no one will enter it anymore. To let the guests know whether the onsen is free and which special signal lamps are made, it is convenient. The Onsens work from 16 to 23 hours, so it is impossible to get down in the morning. Like I think, the water is cold and the rooms are closed - I love outdoors.
The breakfast was unexpected, but they are fed exclusively with different baking (for a long time, so many tests have not eaten). It is also possible to buy frozen dishes for cheap and immediately distribute them in a microwave.
In the bathroom and toilet room, the yucata is issued on demand.
A beautiful living room where you can sit in the evening (if not too many guests). Here, where to sit in the street evening, it is not very clear, because near the Onsens there is a smoke zone with shops, but there is not a very nice smell.
GGuest UserThere are too few reviews of small Japanese homestays. Every time an order is placed, it is like opening a blind box. After opening this one, it is informational and highly recommended. The sanitary conditions and hot spring facilities meet expectations. The biggest surprise is the location. It is actually located at the door of the niche and unique regretful Yuan. Put down your luggage. One person went to the empty attraction and walked around quickly. The sound of running water was in his ears. In front of him was a row of different-looking sitting on the ground. Bodhisattva, Quite mysterious experience. Going to the station, a bit inconvenient, take a taxi back and forth, the price is acceptable, about 1,500 yen a way.
みみちりんI stayed here for 1 night and 2 days. It was a very quiet place with a calm atmosphere. They allowed pets, but it was very clean and nice. It was spacious. Please bring your own bedding and mats for your dogs. The kitchen was clean. I had to make ice, so I went to a 7-Eleven nearby and bought some quickly. There were no condiments. The bathroom was clean. The bath was nice. I was able to take my time. I also liked that the hair dryer was a Dyson. I also liked that there was a projector in the bedroom.
GGuest UserWe had a great stay with Yoshiko-san. She was warm and friendly and gave us great tips and recommendations. The house is very conveniently located near the major temples, Kanmangafuchi abyss, and the bus route. The house was also very comfortable, a taste of real Japanese living!
FFujitaKojiIt is a lodge run by the senior madam, about 15 minutes walk from the station ~ 20 minutes.
The bath was a rock bath and was reserved (30 minutes). It was clean with a large bath.
The room was on the mountain side, so it felt a bit dark, but the bed was good.
The dinner was very delicious with charcoal-fired grilled meat and fish. The plum sake of the aperitif was also the best.
It was a very quiet and nice lodge.
Above all, Madame was a nice person.
