I've been to Kyoto many times and always opted for hotels near Kyoto Station. This time, I found a hotel with excellent value for money. Although it's a bit of a walk from Kyoto Station, it's still quite convenient. The Haruka express from Osaka Airport takes just over an hour to reach Kyoto Station. From the Central Exit (towards Kyoto Tower), cross the bus terminal and a major north-south road. Walk north for about 100 meters, and you'll see Yodobashi Camera. Then, cross the road to the east into a small lane (there's a very popular ramen shop in the middle) for about 100 meters, and at the end of that lane, across another main road, is the hotel. The hotel staff were very friendly, and I even encountered a receptionist who spoke Chinese, which was a pleasant surprise. Check-in was very smooth. A standard 21-square-meter room in Japan is considered quite spacious; we were able to open both of our 26-inch suitcases. The room design in Japanese hotels is always very sensible, clean, and has a separate wet and dry area. The hotel also has a laundry room and a large public bath (onsen) on the 10th floor. There were quite a few Westerners doing their laundry there. The onsen is spacious and has specific opening hours in the morning and evening. There's a large lounge area at the entrance where you can watch TV. After a day of sightseeing, soaking in the onsen is incredibly relaxing. There are many restaurants of various types in the vicinity, and there's a 7-Eleven right across from the hotel, which is super convenient. It looks like this will be my go-to hotel for future trips to Kyoto.

A decent old five-star hotel, about a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station. The hotel also offers a free shuttle bus to Kyoto Station, and the service is good. However, the breakfast for a five-star hotel was a bit simple. The price was also a bit high on weekends.

The hotel's location isn't ideal; its primary convenience is its proximity to public transport. You'll need to take a bus to reach most places, including Kyoto Station, despite a nearby bus stop. Breakfast was abundant but lacked flavor. Upon check-in, we were assigned an older room on the second floor and had to request a room change due to the extremely noisy bathroom exhaust fan. The gym charges a fee for each use, and the public bath, though clean, is quite small. Housekeeping could be more flexible; for our four-night stay, the room was only cleaned on the fourth day. Cleaning on the third day would have been much more practical. Furthermore, breakfast required selecting a fixed time slot with a voucher.

The room was quite spacious, about 20 square meters, so there was plenty of space to lay out luggage without any worries. The bathroom was also a good size with a separate wet and dry area. However, I didn't use the shower there as I went to the large public bath on the 9th floor instead. Soaking in it was a great way to relieve the fatigue of a day of travel. The hotel is conveniently located right next to a bus stop, offering easy access to places like the National Museum, Ichiran Ramen (Shijo branch), and Shinshindo Bakery (Shijo branch).

The hotel boasts an excellent location and is instantly captivating. Choosing Kawaramachi for your Kyoto trip is definitely a smart decision. This charming hotel, a stylish conversion of a former school building, features a spacious lawn downstairs. Blue Bottle Coffee is also conveniently located within the hotel premises. The subway, Takashimaya department store, and the Kamo River are all just a stone's throw away. Upon arrival, it felt both wonderfully novel and oddly familiar, as if we had stepped into the tranquil world of a Ghibli film... It was exceptionally clean and remarkably peaceful ❤️. The hotel's attention to detail is impressive, and the staff, particularly the Japanese ladies, were incredibly thoughtful. One even went the extra mile, personally bringing drink vouchers directly to our room! (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧

This hotel is nestled in Kyoto's Higashiyama district, just a 5-minute walk from the famous Nanzen-ji Temple and Eikan-do Temple. The surroundings are picturesque, and the hotel itself boasts beautifully designed gardens. The rooms feature high-end amenities and elegant interior design. The hotel also has a spacious, comfortable, and clean indoor onsen, with toiletries from a renowned Parisian brand. There's a convenient mini-mart located on the ground floor. The hotel offers a shuttle bus every 30 minutes, taking guests to Sanjo and Shijo, with another stop at Kyoto Station. For those looking for an alternative, the subway station is right around the corner. I imagine staying here in autumn would be even more stunning, with the mountains ablaze in vibrant red foliage. The service is incredibly attentive and warm, with numerous staff members in the lobby always ready to assist guests. This hotel truly offers the best value for money in Kyoto. I will definitely be back, and I promised to bring a panda figurine as a gift for one of the lobby staff! 💝

The hotel is a 7-8 minute walk from Kyoto Station, with a convenience store right next door. We stayed during the summer. While waiting for our transport at the main entrance, there were so many mosquitoes! My child got bitten 6 times instantly, which was incredibly frustrating. I then noticed two or three on my own hand. The sheer number of mosquitoes was very off-putting, especially since we didn't encounter any while shopping in the Kawaramachi area in the evening. I'm not sure why there was such a difference. The room itself was quite spacious for a Japanese hotel. They offered late-night snacks in the lobby. Unfortunately, there was construction going on nearby, so we were woken up early by the noise. Otherwise, it was pretty unremarkable, with a standard star-rated hotel decor.

The location is absolutely unbeatable – incredibly convenient for getting anywhere. It's truly super comfortable, easily one of the best hotels I've stayed at recently. The high-ceilinged lobby was wonderfully cool and had a lovely fragrance. Our room also had a pleasant, subtle woody scent. The bed was soft yet firm, and the lighting was cleverly designed to be bright and warm without being harsh on the eyes. Crucially, the bathroom shower had fantastic water pressure, making for a really comfortable wash, and the hairdryer was excellent too. **Facilities:** Brand new and impeccable – couldn't ask for more. **Cleanliness:** Spotless. As someone with a dust mite allergy, I had no issues with rhinitis during my entire stay. **Service:** The 24-hour front desk provided prompt responses and truly excellent service. This stay was absolutely worth every penny. The soundproofing was superb; even with motorcycles revving on the street below, the noise was barely audible. Plus, the blackout curtains ensured the room was completely dark. If I didn't have other plans, I would have gladly extended my stay indefinitely, even if it meant commuting an hour daily to other areas. It's also very close to Yakiniku Kou, which is delicious. Nishiki Market is great for exploring too. I'll definitely be back. In fact, I'd even plan another trip to Kyoto just to stay here again.

AAllen love traveling 2025.08.26
The location is fantastic! With bus and train stations right outside the door and a 7-Eleven downstairs, getting around couldn't be easier. We initially booked for two nights but found it so convenient that we extended our stay for another two. The room appeared visibly clean. However, as we were traveling with a child and needed to push the beds together, we did notice some minor debris underneath once we moved them. It was within an acceptable range, but it would be perfect if they could pay a bit more attention to these less visible areas. The facilities are all very new and modern. Our room came with a smart toilet and a bathtub. All the bathroom fixtures were TOTO, which felt high-quality and were easy to use. The bathtub even had a quantitative fill feature – a huge plus! Plus, the TV thoughtfully displayed the remaining time for washing machines in the laundry room. The service is truly what stood out to me. The front desk staff spoke excellent English, ensuring absolutely no communication barriers, and their service attitude was exceptional. Upon check-in, they thoughtfully provided a sheet with all the essential details, such as the Wi-Fi password, gym and laundry room locations, and breakfast times/locations. There are also self-service kiosks for check-in and check-out; using the machine for check-out took me less than a minute. Now, for the service that truly blew me away: On our last day, we had an early 10 AM flight from Kansai Airport, so we were in a rush and packed rather hastily. I thought I'd left my RGP contact lenses at the hotel. As soon as we landed, I contacted the hotel. The staff immediately sprang into action, thoroughly searching for them, even checking the trash bins. They showed no signs of annoyance whatsoever and kept apologizing that they couldn't find them. It turned out I found them in a small compartment of my suitcase after retrieving my luggage. While I felt incredibly apologetic for the trouble, I was absolutely blown away by the hotel's exceptional service. Overall, this hotel truly excels in every aspect – from its price and service to cleanliness and facilities. I will definitely choose this hotel again on my next trip to Japan.

AAnonymous UserUpon check-in, there was a staff member in the lobby who spoke Chinese. When checking out, a young woman helped me retrieve my stored luggage and even carried it to my car. She had already asked for my car number beforehand and came to the waiting area to notify me when the car arrived. I regret not catching her name. The hotel also offers a free shuttle bus to and from Kyoto Station daily. Although my stay was mostly arranged for an event and I only extended it by one day, they didn't make me switch rooms. I think their service is excellent.

Ccairns8010To get to the hotel, you have to climb a long and steep slope. It was so hot that I was sweating like crazy. The location is not as good as Park Hyatt. Breakfast is set, but you can add anything you want. The Japanese and Western dishes are very exquisite, but I don't like them. Especially the breakfast without self-service fruit is too low. The hot spring is a bit like Six Senses, but not as big as Six Senses. It's good with fewer people. It's unexpected that a hotel of this level doesn't have a sound system. The only good thing is that all the service staff are very friendly. The overall review is really average.

GGuominziThe attention to detail at this hotel is exceptional. The hotel's brochure provides incredibly detailed information about all facilities and their origins, covering everything from furniture and bedding brands down to the specific brand of mouthwash cups. The rooms are also spacious, and the air conditioning is remarkably quiet. The bakery in the ground floor lobby is delicious – truly, good ingredients make for great taste! I particularly liked the greenery right at the hotel entrance and the overall decor of the lobby. The only minor drawback is the lack of a convenience store nearby; you have to walk about 500-600 meters to find a FamilyMart.

GGuest UserThe location is absolutely fantastic! It's just a short walk across a small road from Kyoto Station. Just a heads-up though, there are actually two hotels co-located here. We initially went to the wrong one, which was a bit awkward, but thankfully, a kind staff member from the adjacent hotel showed us to ours. We booked a room with three one-meter beds, and they were very comfortable. The hotel room was actually quite spacious. The bathroom featured a 'three-compartment' design, with the toilet in its own separate cubicle. This design is excellent; it perfectly suited one family member's preference for privacy when using the toilet, and it didn't interfere with us washing our faces and hands. If we ever return to Kyoto, we will definitely choose this hotel again.

__WeChat20061****Hotel Granvia's location is absolutely fantastic! It's right on the second floor, accessible by elevator on the left once you enter the main entrance of Osaka Station. Plus, there are several other entrances, making it incredibly convenient to get anywhere. Even just around the hotel, there's so much to explore. Inside the station, you'll find both Isetan and Porta shopping malls. The ramen at Ramen Street on Isetan's 10th floor is also delicious – I recommend the tantanmen; it's spicy and incredibly satisfying! When checking out, I bought a Hello Kitty Haruka e-ticket directly on Klook, and I could just scan my phone to enter and exit. The entrance is also right downstairs from the hotel, directly opposite the Kyoto Station entrance. If it's your first time visiting Kyoto, I highly recommend staying at Hotel Granvia.

GGuest UserOnline hotel bookings can often feel like a blind box draw, but Dusit Thani was definitely the right pick. Every staff member I encountered had an excellent attitude, the room was spotless, and even though the turndown service only provided a bottle of water, it was a pleasant and thoughtful touch. Thai brands truly excel in their service consciousness and aesthetic sense. The room itself was incredibly comfortable, and with no other guests in the public lobby areas, I thoroughly enjoyed the bliss of reading a book alone.

LLinxianshengguahuziFacilities: The hotel is well-equipped with amenities such as a gym, laundry room, and ice machines, though they are a bit on the smaller side. The rooms are quite spacious, and the bathrooms even feature separate wet and dry areas. However, the corner room I chose required a bit of a walk to get to. Service: The staff were very friendly and attentive, upholding the high standards typical of service in Kyoto. A late check-out until 12 PM was a nice bonus. Location: The location is average. There's a Karasuma Subway Station nearby, which you typically need to use for transfers when exploring the city. For everyday essentials and conveniences, there's a supermarket, Starbucks, and Blue Bottle Coffee all close by. However, finding a decent restaurant after 7:30 PM requires a bit of a walk.

IiskiThe location is great, with a Fresco supermarket and a drugstore nearby. The hotel is stylish and its design really complements Kyoto's aesthetic. Laundry facilities are available, which is very convenient. However, on the first night, the shower head was broken and leaking, resulting in very low water pressure, which made showering difficult. When I called the front desk, they simply told me to 'check it myself'. It wasn't until the next day, after I showed them a video, that they arranged for it to be fixed. A small note was slipped under the door confirming the repair, but no substantial compensation was offered. After 8 PM, the main road became quite noisy due to loud motorbikes. I booked this room more than a month in advance for 940 (without breakfast). However, when I checked on the day of arrival, the same room type was only 700, and even with breakfast, it was just over 900.
