Helpful staff and good location. Suggest to travel by Grab for places of interest within Georgetown to avoid hassle of parking. Walls a little thin and could faintly hear noises from outside, else everything is good.
Quite satisfied for the price. Overall good, quite comfortable. Parking provided is very limited. Though if full can park at roadside yellow box. Friendly staff and security. Shower room a bit small. Water spray beside toilet bowl dripping a few drops of water and I'm annoyed by it so I just put it on floor. Aircond not very strong and cold but its suffice and I'm ok with it.Just takes longer time to cold thats it. Probably only my particular room. Early morning can hear prayer nearby but its acceptable for me. Theres Netflix on the TV so you probably can login and watch. Breakfast is quite nice just fewer options. Different variant each day. Will stay here again when I'm visiting Penang again! :D
My wife and I stayed 4 nights here recently.
Highlights:
- Prime location in the heart of Georgetown—walking distance to shopping malls, eateries, and key attractions.
- Reliable high-speed internet, ideal for both work and leisure.
- Complimentary parking with a convenient license plate recognition system.
- Warm, courteous staff who go the extra mile to assist.
- Breakfast spread was impressive—varied, fresh, and satisfying.
On the negative side:
- Room size is quite small, which may not suit guests seeking spacious accommodation.
- Unusual housekeeping policy: rooms are only cleaned once every two days, which may not meet expectations for daily upkeep.
Overall Verdict:
While the location and amenities are commendable, the limited room space and infrequent cleaning schedule detract from the overall experience. For the price point, it falls short of delivering full value for money.
My overall stay at the hotel was truly wonderful! From the moment I arrived until the day I checked out, the hospitality extended to me was nothing short of exceptional. The hotel staff were warm, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure I felt welcomed and well taken care of throughout my trip.
One of the biggest highlights is the strategic location, perfectly situated with easy access to key attractions, and restaurants, making it incredibly convenient for both leisure and business travelers.
The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable, providing a peaceful retreat after a long day of exploring. I especially appreciated the classic charm of the hotel, which added a touch of timeless elegance to the entire experience.
Whether you’re visiting for work or holiday, I highly recommend this hotel for its excellent service, great location, and overall value. I will definitely be back!
Stayed here for a third year in a row. Always chose hotel as its very near SPICE Convention Centre. Breakfast standards have dropped. There's a weird smell in the lobby and toilet. Overall stay good, but not a 5 star standard. Hope that you can improve as there are many new hotels building in the area.
🌟 Cititel Express Penang — Snug, Convenient, and Worth Considering
📍 Prime Location
Nestled in the heart of Georgetown at 123 Lebuh Noordin, Cititel Express Penang boasts a top-tier location that’s a dream for anyone eager to explore the city’s iconic food spots, Komtar, and nearby malls—all within easy walking distance . Guests consistently rave about its convenience for eating, shopping, and sightseeing .
🛏 Room Size: Compact Yet Clean
The rooms here are undeniably small—some describe them as “tiny” or “narrow”—but they tend to be clean, modern, and functional, especially ideal for short stays or solo travellers . That said, if you’re planning a long stay or value spaciousness, you might feel a bit cramped.
🚗 Complimentary Parking
A rare plus in central Penang—parking is free for hotel guests. The Cititel Express shares a secure multi-story car park with St. Giles Wembley, and parking comes with no charge for Cititel Express guests . Do note, though, that a few guests have mentioned occasional hiccups with the parking ticket system, requiring a quick stop at reception to get it reissued .
👍 Service, Cleanliness & Value
Most reviews highlight friendly and helpful staff, comfortable beds, strong value-for-money pricing, and acceptable cleanliness standards for a budget-friendly city hotel . While the facilities are basic, guests didn’t mention major complaints beyond the room size .
⚠️ Noise & Thin Walls
Light sleepers should be aware: the rooms tend to have minimal soundproofing, and sounds from neighbouring rooms or the corridor can be noticeable
We booked two rooms and had an outstanding experience at this hotel. Although both rooms were the same type (21m²), Room 1615 felt more spacious than Room 1609.
The location is excellent, just a short walk to the night street food market on Lebuh Presgrave, 12 minutes to Cecil Market, and 8 minutes to the 24-hour McDonald's at Birch House.
There’s also a hidden bar, Good Friend Club, less than 100 meters from the hotel entrance, and another one, Magazine 63, about 10 minutes away, across from 1st Avenue Mall. Just 2 minutes away is GAMA Supermarket, which includes a small pharmacy and bakery—very convenient for anything you need. 5 min away from Komtar also. Opposite hotel is the Hin Bus Depot.
The rooms were clean and the air conditioning worked well. However, the bathroom exhaust fan was quite loud (though manageable if turned off after use), and the room lighting was a bit dim—adding a floor or table lamp would be helpful. The water heater took about 3 minutes to produce hot water, which could be improved to reduce water waste. Soundproofing wasn’t the best, as I could hear the neighboring shower, but it wasn’t a major issue for me.
The hotel has a gym and swimming pool @ roof top level-25, though we didn’t have time to use them. The facilities well-maintained.
Overall, we had a great stay. The staff and security were friendly and welcoming. Keep up the great work and continue maintaining the cleanliness and service standards!
This hotel tends to get fully booked quickly. If you want to book this Hotel, please plan and book early
Will stay again when I go Penang next time.
We checked in at midnight, so the front office staff did a quick check-in for us so we could rest. The next day, when we returned to the hotel for a short break, we found that the air conditioning was leaking and the floor was wet. We called the front desk, but the technician took over 30 minutes but still yet to arrive to do a checking. Deciding to check for other available rooms, the staff apologized for the inconvenience and moved us to a different room.
We were very satisfied with their service, and the new room was very clean. I'm proud to say this hotel is eco-friendly. Instead of providing bottled water, they have water dispensers on each floor for guests to fill up their own bottles, and the toiletries are also eco-friendly. Thumbs up!!!
The room is quite small, but it offers a lovely view. It's very clean, although we didn’t have enough space to store all our shopping bags. :)
Mr Putasnen Nagadaran was exceptionally helpful and proactive. He made sure my early check-in request was fulfilled with a clean room ready upon arrival, and he even greeted me by name when he saw me in the corridor while he was checking other rooms. He took the time to respond to my email sent late at night—while I was out during the day—with detailed information about nearby parking options in case the hotel’s lot was full.
We’ll be returning because of Mr Putasnen’s outstanding service, not because of the hotel itself.
Mr Putasnen - Please take care of yourself and don't overwork :)
The moment I opened the door to my room, I was met with an unpleasant odor, it is similar to a clogged drain, which made the first impression quite poor.
The drainage issue continued in the shower room, where the floor seemed to stay flooded due to an obviously clogged drain. It made using the shower uncomfortable and inconvenient.
To add to the discomfort, the pillow had a strange, musty smell, which made it difficult to get a good night’s rest.

SSangeetthis hotel is good overall, but when we arrived, they told us that we didn't have a booking with them and they couldn't locate our booking and details. the room was also said to be taken, and they are waiting for a cancellation in order to get our room. There is a lot of confusion among staff. some visitors were told to leave their rooms once they have entered. we waiting 1 hr 30 min to get our room. so check in was at 4.30pm. parking was also very inconvenient, as we had to park at the basement, which was impossible to even get one if you came into the hotel late and a T&G card was also needed to get validated before leaving the hotel if we wanted a free spot. Room was very spacious and clean. the tea and coffee was hard like its never been changed.
AAnonymous UserAll good ! For the parking it has poor visibility directional board so just keep yr eyes big 😄
for hotel itself everything it's all in well condition

MM_KSE&O Hotel Penang exceeded our expectations! The hotel's colonial charm and luxurious amenities made our stay truly unforgettable. The staff were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met.
The rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated, with stunning views of the garden or city. We enjoyed relaxing by the pool, indulging in delicious cocktails at the bar, and savoring local and international cuisine at the hotel's restaurants.
The hotel's prime location in George Town made it easy to explore the city's cultural attractions, street art, and culinary delights. We highly recommend E&O Hotel Penang for its exceptional service, luxurious amenities, and unique charm.
SSnickersfrogWe chose this hotel as it is the newest hotel in Ferringhi which also has a kids pool and kids club.
The rooms were good, especially connecting rooms to be close to my kids. Aircond was cold. Beach access was good. Breakfast could be better. Crows can be a bit of a nuisance. Parking available at lobby and basement. However if you are looking to eat out a lot, this hotel may not be so convenient.
Traffic in and out of Ferringhi to Teluk Bahang is a nightmare. It will take you 45 mins to Georgetown and 45 mins back to Teluk Bahang.

AAnonymous UserRoom is ok but the toilet have not lock door that is not so good and also the place is china town but after 4pm all the restaurants are closed so need to go to george town to having dinner. The room is not so small the facilities are quite good and also the rooms.
GGuest UserMy stay at PARKROYAL Penang Resort was truly exceptional. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcome with their warm hospitality and attention to detail. The room was spacious, spotless, and beautifully decorated, with a breathtaking view of sea. I especially loved the pool, breakfast buffet, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, it exceeded my expectations, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for comfort, luxury, and outstanding service. I would definitely return!. TQ Mr. Kana, Noraini, Shah and Shojun for the services.
GGuest UserLooking at the review of hotels in Malaysia, there seem to be tons of people giving negative reviews for almost every hotel so was pretty wary of booking this hotel and all the other ones I stayed at! However, I found that this was a decent hotel albeit with some minor problems.
To start with the good. The hotel is well constructed, by that I mean the rooms and walls are made of good material so that generally sound from other rooms or outside is not an issue. This is my main concern, because you must be able to sleep peacefully or live in your room without being disturbed by neighbours or the outside, that should be the primary goal of any hotel. The room size is also very large, although I found small things like the funny diagonal shaped desk not to be practical because it was too small to use comfortably. Also, you cannot connect your laptop to the TV with and HDMI because the TV is fixed to the wall.
I had some small issues with a blocked basin and the shower hose was broken, but these were resolved after a couple of visits. I needed to persuade maintenance man to change the hose, which I thought was strange as it was obviously broken. He called in housekeeping afterwards to clean up some of the water on the floor that came from the work. The cleaner used one of the body towels to wipe up the water. I said that he should at least use the floor towel and not the ones for the body. He said it was ”Just water”. As someone who is prone to eczema, I have to be careful about detergents and what I put on my skin. If this is something that house cleaning do regularly, this would be a problem for me. (I did start getting some skin issues here, but cannot say for certain it was due to the hotel).
There was also some old stains on the bed sheets that I had to ask to be changed. Bed sheets like that need to be either bleached or thrown away. They may not pose any health risks but no one wants to sleep on visibly stained sheets. Also, the small sofa bench on at the foot of the bed was heavily stained and really needs to be re-furbished.
The breakfast was okay. I remember the dining area which is nice, but not much of the actual food. I just like eggs, toast, fruit and coffee.
The check-in is on the 20th floor, so you will probably only see the managers when you check-in and when you check-out. I had a nice Indian lady check me in. I saw one other man manager, portly Indian man, there when I tried to extend by one night, who I found to be less friendly.
I would stay here again, as the problems were minor. (I also stayed at the Citadines, which I absolutely do not recommend).
GGuest UserPleasant Family Stay in Penang
We stayed one night with family and had a comfortable and enjoyable experience. The room and bathroom were spacious, clean, and very comfortable—perfect for families with kids.
The location is excellent, with many food options nearby. Even without the hotel breakfast, it was easy to find good local food in the area.
The kids really enjoyed the swimming pool, especially the mini water park with slides and a playground, although the pool area was a bit small.
One downside was the lack of basic in-room amenities like toothbrush and toothpaste, shower cap, cotton buds, soap bar, and a hair dryer.
Overall, a pleasant stay and a good option for families. Would stay again if basic essentials are improved.
