This hotel offers excellent value for money. It's conveniently located, just a 5-minute walk from Beppu Station and the bus stop. The entire property is designed in a traditional Japanese style, featuring tatami mats throughout. On the first floor, guests can enjoy complimentary coffee. The onsen (hot spring) floor boasts beautiful sea views, and free popsicles are a nice touch. In the evenings, they even serve complimentary late-night ramen. Laundry facilities include free washing machines, though dryers cost 100 yen per cycle.

The hotel's location is excellent; you can easily walk from Beppu Station with your luggage. The room view exceeded expectations, offering a panorama of mountains, sea, and city. Breakfast was great, with unlimited tempura! Plus, there's a free drink bar in the restaurant every day. The room size was generous, and the facilities were new. The only downside is that our room on the second-highest floor was directly below the onsen level, leading to some noise. We reported it to the hotel, but they couldn't do anything about it.

## Yufuin Sansuikan - A North Kyushu Trip We took a bus from Beppu to Yufuin. The JR station is conveniently located directly across the street from the Beppu Hatto Hotel. From there, you can walk through the JR station's waiting area to bus stop #1. Bus #36 takes you directly to Yufuin. The fare is 1100 JPY; you take a numbered ticket when you board and pay upon exiting. Buses are frequent, and the journey takes approximately an hour. Upon arrival, the hotel is an easy 10-minute walk using Google Maps. For an alternative, the renowned Yufuin no Mori train also runs from Beppu to Yufuin, though advance reservations are highly recommended if you wish to experience it. Standard check-in time at Japanese hotels is 3 PM. Guests can drop off their luggage first and then explore Yufuin. Yufuin Sansuikan boasted the largest room among the four hotels we stayed at during this trip, though its decor was also the most dated. Online, I saw prices for the hotel exceeding 4,000 RMB per night during Chinese New Year, which is incredibly poor value for money. Honestly, even at the price we paid, I found it a bit overpriced. Due to North Kyushu's proximity to Korea, there's a significant presence of Korean tourists, particularly noticeable in Yufuin. Overall, my impression was that North Kyushu primarily attracts Korean, *********, Hong Kong, and Shanghainese visitors. The hotel's public onsens are located on the first and second floors; there are no private baths. The women's bath rotates, being on the second floor in the evening and the first floor in the morning. The first-floor onsen is slightly larger than the second, and both feature outdoor rotenburo (open-air baths). Complimentary refreshments are available from 3 PM until 10 AM the following day, including a selection of beverages, ice cream, snacks, tea, and coffee. Beer and other alcoholic drinks are also offered in the evenings. In summary, Yufuin Sansuikan is generally an average option. It could be considered if you need a place to stay for one night in Yufuin.

Guests appreciate the friendly staff and the variety of dining options available on-site . Overall, Kamenoi Hotel Beppu is a great choice for travelers seeking a comfortable stay in Beppu.

Dinner and breakfast : all food was cold because half of the food (about 4-5 small dishes and main) was placed at my table before i went to the restaurant. The servant pushed me to eat faster as the second half (the rest 4-6 small dishes) was put on table when i just started the first half. Quite disappointing. Supposed dessert shd be served after meal, The servant even placed it when i still had 4-5 dishes not finished. Annoying. Hot spring : opening hour was acceptable but there was no view to the beautiful scene at all. Quite disappointing too. The bamboo screen was too enclosed, making me just looking the few plants there. When comparing with Naha, there’s only one type of hot spring and was too traditional. Room : it’s not large as expected. Location: not far from JR/bus station but away from main street to one and only one spot - the lake Conclusion : too expensive when considering the bad dining experience . Not very recommended

This hotel is perfectly located right in the heart of Beppu's Hells, with attractions literally on its doorstep. All five Hells (Jigoku) are within a 3-5 minute walk, which is incredibly convenient! While the hotel's exterior is unassuming, its interior is a hidden gem. The Japanese garden in the common areas is beautiful. Our room was spacious with a great view, allowing us to see the steam rising from the Hells. Plus, having a private onsen in the room meant we could soak to our heart's content! We even had the large public bath all to ourselves during our visit. The Teppanyaki set meal we booked was a good experience, though we wished there was a little more meat. We specifically requested Japanese-style breakfast when booking, but for some reason, we were given Western-style instead. When we inquired, the staff informed us that it couldn't be changed. On a very positive note, it was our wedding anniversary trip, and the hotel thoughtfully prepared a small gift and took commemorative photos for us – a very nice touch! Aside from these minor issues, everything else was fantastic. The only real downside was the hotel's shuttle service to the station. While they offer it, the last departure is strictly before 11 AM. If you miss it, you have to take a taxi. It feels a bit inconvenient to offer a service with such a limited timeframe. For instance, we visited the Hells in the morning and ended up leaving the hotel after 11 AM, so we had to take a taxi to the JR station. An improvement here would be much appreciated! Overall, my husband, who was visiting Japan for the first time, said it was an excellent Japanese onsen hotel experience. He gives it a big thumbs up!

This is an older hotel, and while the decor and furnishings show their age, everything is functional and well-maintained. It's a good option if you don't mind a slightly dated aesthetic. **Pros:** The location is incredibly convenient, with plenty of restaurants nearby that stay open late. The hotel has an elevator, and parking is free. A very generous buffet breakfast is included, and there's also a large public bath. A significant bonus is its ability to accommodate large families, even groups of up to ten people!

This hotel is very convenient if you are taking bus from Hakata Bus Terminal. It stopped right in front of the hotel. Inside the hotel, it has tourist information counter where tourists can buy bus pass etc. Room and toilet are small and is common in Japan, but they are clean and stay is comfortable. They have 1 indoor and outdoor onsen. Opposite the hotel is a departmental store and is 10 mins walk to Beppu train station. Beppu tower is just a short distance walk from hotel. If you are taking a bus to Yifuin, bus stop 1 is just nearby, opposite direction of hotel. I will recommend this hotel if you are coming to Beppu.

The hotel staff are mostly Korean, and the owner is also Korean. We booked a triple room on the first floor, which was conveniently close to the outdoor onsen. The room itself was spacious and clean. The onsen was also excellent. We visited on a weekday, and it seemed like there were only two groups of guests, including us. It felt like we had the dining area and the onsen all to ourselves. Aside from briefly seeing them at the front desk, we didn't encounter the other guests at any other time. We had booked a package that included dinner. The dinner was a delightful, multi-course Japanese meal (kaiseki-style), where each dish was introduced and served individually, only after the previous one was finished. Upon departure, a complimentary shuttle service to the station was provided. However, getting there upon arrival was a bit tricky; we had to take a taxi (around 1000 JPY) as it involved an uphill walk, and it was quite hot. Walking would have taken 30-40 minutes. The hotel is a convenient 10-15 minute walk from Kinrin Lake and the 'Fairytale Village.' You could easily visit these attractions in the morning, return, and then check out before departing. If you need to do laundry, there's a coin-operated laundromat a 7-8 minute walk away (as shown in Pic 4). For those who prefer to buy their own breakfast, a convenience store is a 10-minute walk, conveniently located on the way to Kinrin Lake.

AAnonymous UserThe hotel said it provides free shuttle from JR to hotel upon arrival at Yufuin with prior booking via email, but they didn’t reply email until you called them. Finally we need to walk to the hotel with our bulky luggages. During check in, we checked with the female staff in short hair whether we can book a shuttle the next day, and she said they don’t have this service. When I asked again why they said in the booking description that the hotel provided free shuttle if they actually didn’t, she kept saying ‘No’! When she explained the dinner arrangement, I told her one of our family members doesn’t eat beef. Then, she gave us a poker face and blamed us for not telling her earlier. However, the point is the hotel couldn’t be connected via email, and they didn’t specify that guests should have informed them the preferred meal before arrival. Except this female staff at reception, other service staff are polite and friendly.

SSara ArdeliaThe closest hotel to Harmonyland which allows you to take taxi to and from the theme park at a reasonable price. The hotel basically provides everything from snacks, drinks and meals all day including dinner and breakfast, everything was excellent. I was aware that Mercure is an international hotel chain thus the vibes of the hotel itself can’t truly be entirely Japanese. However, I was still very satisfied with my stay overall. I was so lucky to see some cherry blossom trees still in their peak at the hotel parking lot while the peak of most other trees in different areas had already passed. The hotel also offers free shuttle from and to Beppu Station which we found to be very helpful.

GGuest UserExcellent! Awesome lobby, incredible seaview, great service, competent and very polite staff, good food, room very clean, onsen is great with free branded amenities choices 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. location is a bit off, fortunately have shuttle. Special thanks to Harada san 👍🏻👍🏻 helped to arrange smooth transfer from hotel to airport. Appreciate the hospitality from quite a number of multilingual staff 👏🏻👏🏻. Onsen is great, unlimited free drinks! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻coffee, coke, green tea, etc 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Breakfast is good, value for money, nice to try. Dinner is 90-mins semi buffet, no choice for the set, special arrangement if you don’t eat beef, but take some time. Lots of wine varieties, if you don’t drink alcohol, the dinner price is NOT worth. My comment: Highly recommended. need to have car, my case is with sudden car break down with no replacement. Grandvrio did a great job!👏🏻👏🏻

GGuest UserAdvantages: Private bath, nice scenery, good service from staff, no problem in communicating in English, Chinese and Mandarin! The Oita Wagyu beef in Kaiseki cuisine is very delicious, and the price-performance ratio is very good. The Oita chicken tastes above average! Evening kaiseki excellent breakfast is ok! Disadvantages: The location is on a higher mountain! You have to get there first, as the public baths are relatively ordinary! No scenery! A private spa will be more beautiful! In addition, there is no independent toilet, if the weather is very cold! I don’t want to have to go to a public bathhouse to take a shower in the freezing wind in a private room. In addition, because it is a suburban area, there will be more insects that may crawl into the house. 3.5/5 Release date: April 21, 2024 hotel Yagla Hotel 4.6/5 22 reviews

GGuest UserHotel surroundings and cleanliness was top notch. Dinner and breakfast set were amazingly tasteful and filling. Food served was fresh and served based on our eating pace. All the staff are all well versed with English and friendly with our request. The onsen itself was great but the entrance to the men and ladies onsen was just next to each other. Ladies privacy could be easily violated as the main door was the see-through type. We were not feeling quite comfortable with the entrance layout.

GGuest UserThe hotel is situated 15 minutes taxi ride from the Beppu station. So we have nowhere to go that night. But it's good enough to have hotspring and drinks in the hotel. The staff is very polite and can explain what you can do in English. Then you were lead to the room and tips rejected. We booked the Kaiseki dinner and breakfast. The dinner time is either 6pm or 6:30pm and the breakfast time 8am or 8:30. The dinner is good but maybe my expectation is quite high, it didn't reach my expectation, especially for the sashimi. For the onsen, there are 4 private onsens and 2 public. One of the private onsens is closed. Therefore we can use 3. You can use the private onsen when it is not occupied. Just lock the door and turn the plate to the other side. But all the onsen are closed by 12 midnight. And there is a room with free flow beer and soda, but it closes at 10pm. Don't drink beer before taking hotspring. There is also an onsen in our room which can be used anytime. It's hot at night but not so hot in the next morning. Overall, the view is good. The staff is good. The food is good (just not so great) and the onsens are good. Beppu is a good place to stay a few days more
