I had a pleasant stay at Art Hotel Kagoshima. The hotel offers a beautiful view of Sakurajima, especially from the rooms facing the bay — waking up to that scenery was truly memorable.
The staff were friendly, polite, and helpful throughout my stay. Check-in and check-out were smooth, and the overall service felt professional and efficient.
The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything I needed for a short stay. The bed was cozy, and the room layout made good use of space.
Breakfast was enjoyable, with a nice selection of Japanese and Western dishes, and the restaurant had a lovely view as well. The hotel’s location is convenient — just a short drive from the city center and ferry terminal.
Overall, Art Hotel Kagoshima is a great choice for travelers looking for comfort, good value, and beautiful views of Sakurajima. I would be happy to stay here again.
A new hotel with excellent location. It’s just next to the shopping streets with lots of restaurants & souvenir shops. Got amenities such as bath salt, tea bags, drip coffee & cleansing oil/ lotion at hotel lobby for you to pick up. The restaurant where you take breakfast commands a stunning panoramic view. Will stay here again.
It's very clean, and the bedding and toiletries are brand new. On the first floor, the lobby offers a variety of DHC cleansers, toners, and makeup removers, so if you're not too picky, you don't even need to bring any toiletries. It's right next to the Tenmonkan shopping district, which is very convenient, and the 'Woa Ren' restaurant there is delicious. I'll definitely go back again; I really enjoyed the food in Kagoshima, and if I return, I'll stay at this hotel again.
Upon checking in, guests are treated to stunning views of Sakurajima volcano and Kagoshima city right from their rooms. The hotel boasts an excellent location, nestled close to Shiroyama Park in a tranquil setting. The highlight is undoubtedly the rooftop onsen, offering direct views of Sakurajima—soaking in the hot spring while admiring the majestic volcano is an unforgettable experience. Breakfast offers a wide variety, and the service is meticulous and attentive. Whether for sightseeing or business trips, this hotel is a convenient and iconic top-tier choice in Kagoshima city.
This hotel is in the Tenmonkan and very close to the tram station. There are also many places to eat nearby. Kagoshima is really great, and the people are very nice. I will definitely come to Kagoshima again in the future.
I like this hotel. I've stayed here for 2 times. They provide a free transfer from and to Railway station and a city centre. Very good onsen with a scenic view on Sakurajima. You can also rent a bike here in the hotel for a reasonable price. Convenience store is right by the hotel.
Simply perfect! Right next to the Shinkansen entrance, the hotel is magnificent. For breakfast, you can choose between Western and Japanese styles, and even if you wake up late, you can have a Western lunch there. They really cater to all types of guests. Inside Kagoshima Station, there are so many dining options: ramen, sushi, tonkatsu, pastries, souvenir shops... And if you want to shop, there's AMU Plaza. Even if you don't go anywhere else, you could easily spend a whole day in the building. The hotel rooms are clean and tidy, and the front desk staff always greet you warmly when you pass through the lobby. It truly feels like a home away from home.
I often travel to Japan, and Dormy Inn rooms always seem to be in high demand. The 20+ sqm twin rooms, perfect for two adults and one child, are usually impossible to book. So, when I saw this room type available in Kagoshima, I decided to book it for one night.
Overall, my experience fell short of expectations. Unfortunately, neither adult could enjoy the onsen (hot springs) for personal reasons, which is arguably the hotel's main highlight – a real shame. The room itself was a bit small, and while cleanliness was decent, the toilet emitted a persistent garlic-like odor.
On the positive side, the dining options were excellent. Breakfast featured Kagoshima's special black pork shabu-shabu and a type of sashimi. Complimentary ice cream and Yakult were available all day in the lounge on the hot spring floor, and free soy sauce ramen was served after 9:30 PM. Given these amenities, I'd say it's best suited for adults who plan to fully utilize the onsen facilities.
What truly made the stay less than ideal wasn't just my inability to use the onsen. More significantly, during check-in, the front desk informed me that my reservation did not include a 3-year-old child, resulting in an additional charge for the child's accommodation and meals. This wasn't the hotel's fault, and honestly, I'm not sure who to blame. I distinctly remember booking for two adults and one child, so I'm puzzled about what went wrong in the process. Perhaps Dormy Inn and I simply weren't a good match this time.
I'm well aware that Japanese hotels charge per person, so I always meticulously enter the correct number of guests and compare prices across different platforms when booking in Japan. Having visited Japan over a dozen times, this was the first instance where I was charged extra at check-in due to a discrepancy in the number of guests. I was quite surprised when informed about the booking error. Checking my Trip.com confirmation on my phone at the front desk, I saw it indeed only listed two adults. I can only fault myself for never reviewing the confirmation after booking; moving forward, I'll be sure to check them carefully to catch and correct any issues promptly. After reporting this to Trip.com customer service, they responded quickly and later reimbursed me half of the additional cost.
During this trip, both hotels I booked through Trip.com had unexpected additional charges at check-in. Besides the Dormy Inn incident, another hotel in Fukuoka charged a separate accommodation tax. Interestingly, I booked a different hotel in Fukuoka on another platform, and its price already included this tax, so I didn't pay anything extra upon arrival. Moving forward, when booking hotels in Japan, I'll have to carefully consider if the lowest price offered on certain platforms might be due to hidden fees.
The environment is comfortable, the kiri-kiri bath and the large public bath are great.
Shochu and local tea are provided.
There are also hourly and midnight snacks.
The tomato ramen is delicious.
The hotel also provides a shuttle bus to Kirishima Jingu Station.
The Dormy Inn Group will not disappoint.
Recommend staying at Kirishima Onsen for one night.
It is great.
The traditional Japanese hotel has a long history. The customer service attitude is good and serious. The proprietress also greets the guests personally. We booked a one-night stay with two meals. Both dinner and breakfast were exquisite and delicious. The location is close to Sarakkan and there are rooms with sea views. It is also not far from Ibusuki Train Station. It is definitely worth our third visit.

Very Good
KKarena 872We absolutely loved this stay and would recommend it to all travellers!
We booked the corner room. The room was well illuminated by natural light during the day and we could see the river from our room. At night we could even hear the water flowing. There were two western single beds but we asked for futons for the full Japanese experience and loved it! The room was spacious and clean. There was a bathtub in the bathroom but we used the public bath (male and female separated) which was amazing. The public bath was quiet and spacious and there was a sauna room. Breakfast was served during 7am -830am with a well set table as shown in the picture. The staff was super kind. Just note that the walls were thin and you should expect some noise but people here are generally used to keeping their voice down.
Another highlight is that you can take the bus of both the red and blue lines at the bus stop right in front of the hotel. (The blue line is for Shiratani Unsuikyo.). It is very convenient if you are not driving. The hotel is around 25 mins away from the ferry port and the walk there was pleasant and not difficult to find.
Yet another great thing about this place is that you can rent mountaineering gear here at a cheap price, including shoes and rain protection. We rented the shoes here at 1,xxx yen per person (forgot the exact price) and they were very useful. It was raining for almost the whole 5h hike for us and the shoes offered a good grip and were sufficiently waterproof. You can also find little souvenirs at their shop. Honestly, it's impeccable!
GGuest UserThe location may be inconvenient,
but it's a great place for healing purposes.
The food is delicious and the view is amazing.
There are many stars in the evening, and in the summer, you can enjoy the pool, which seems even better. The hot springs in the hotel are free, and when there aren't many people,
I was alone and took a picture of the bath.
It felt like a private bath because I could enjoy it alone.
The hot springs while looking at the sea were the best.
The hot springs are open from 5 AM to 12 AM.
I'm so happy that they operate.
And most of all, the staff were really kind.
I was impressed that they greeted me from the time I arrived at the hotel until I left.
OOrez TsangThis is my first leisure trip in 2025. That's a vey good experience trip with my wife.
A modern and comfortable lobby lounge area provided a nice coffee area for a easy breakfast before my day trip. On the final day, i enjoyed the full buffet breakfast and staffs were really helpful with that gave people nice day beginning.
Onsen provided me an refreshments daily and made me energetic, also relaxed me as happy ending.
I forgot the female staff who received my fruit on 14Jan night. She and her colleague assist us to prepare the fruit which purchased outside. It was my nice dessert that night.
Another memorable gentleman on 13Jan overnight, i was handling some business during overnight in sudden. Therefore, i went down lobby to complete it. He approached me for assistance and offering me help for wifi service.
For the design of lobby, this is very great to locate the front desk towards the main entrance and the most front line to welcome guest. The FO team need to perform the most professional and consistently services. Especially the cold weather, they keep a good image to maintain professional.
The shuttle bus driver was nice to take care us every evening back to hotel.
For the room reservation, we selected the room with beautiful view Sakurajima and i could enjoy my drip coffee myself to see the sun raise.
I will highly recommend this hotel to my friends.
GGuest UserThere is a supermarket nearby, which I think is more convenient. The hotel and room environment is very good, and the private outdoor hot spring space in the room is also relatively large; The only thing is that the hotel is located near the city. Although it is more convenient, it also sacrifices and lacks the landscape of . This depends on personal choice. But in general, it is considered a hotel worth staying in.
AAnonymous UserVery satisfied hotel! The location of the hotel is very good, you can watch the sunrise while lying in bed. There is a hot spring on the premises, the room is comfortable, the breakfast is delicious, and the staff is very welcoming! Worth recommending to more friends

GGuest UserEveryone is very friendly and it's nice at home.
The rice is very good and the beach is nearby, so it is perfect for spending a luxurious time.
This room is a wooden house with high ceilings and a touch of woody fragrance. The ceiling fan invites you to travel.
Taking a step to the balcony, the stars look very beautiful, and the sounds of various creatures come and go.
I feel that I have found something forgotten in my city life.
I want to live longer.
Thank you very much for picking up from the airport.
If you come to Ammei, please be sure to stay, I will recommend it.
CCasper WongHot spring hotel in an area renowned for its hot springs. I deliberately chose the Japanese tatami-style to experience more of the local culture. As you can see from the photos, the view from my room was really nice! I also like the fact that both dinner and breakfast were included, as there isn't much around. Very comfortable stay overall, but mind you - the smell of sulphur (possibly?) from the hot springs is always there!
GGuest UserThe hotel is right at the waterside and a new athletics park. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. The food is very nice although the restaurant is missing some character. For a 3 star hotel there is plenty of amenities. Also good parking right in front of the hotel. Visitors are mostly elderly Japanese, few tourists from abroad. At the breakfast start, which is 06:30, the buffet was pretty overwhelmed and a bit understaffed. Maybe the buffet should be more spreads over the room. I would def recommend the hot. Yes
