Excellent, modern facilities with super friendly and helpful staff. Great location, easy walk to restaurants and waterfront. The Argus group has excellent accommodation. Also recommend their studios!
Great location when visiting Kakadu National Park. Original architectural design. However, room and dining prices are inflated to due the remote location (tight supply and high demand of lodging options). Pool is small but does the job to help cool off.
First of all, it was very clean because it was renewed. Nevertheless, due to the local characteristics of Darwin, I saw insects in the room on the first day, but when I told the office, I cleaned them and put them in the room.
Locationally, there was a mindil sunset market within walking distance and cbd was not too far away.
Although I inquired about the check-out rate due to the flight, I was disappointed about the part that cost $30 an hour, but other than that, it was generally a satisfactory visit.
Arrived to a sign in reception “back at 8pm” we had to wait half an hour (24 hour reception) so after a long flight this was not good. Reception area also smelt of smoke. No lift to the second floor so an issue if you have heavy luggage. Hotel was noisy at night with people in the courtyard area very late into the night. Pool looked unmaintained and dirty. Also WiFi only worked in reception.
On the plus side the hotel is in a good location and the rooms were clean and spacious and had clean bedding and towels.
The room was spacious and the location was excellent, with the ocean in front and the CBD behind. Everything in the city center was within walking distance. The noodle house on the street behind the hotel was delicious. The staff were very friendly, enthusiastic, and attentive. I would definitely stay here again next time I'm in Darwin.
We had a fantastic stay at The Lost Camel Hotel. The atmosphere was quiet and cozy, making it the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. The location is excellent, close to everything you need around Yulara.
The service was outstanding, with staff who were always friendly, welcoming, and happy to help. Dining was also a highlight—Geckos and Ayers Wok both offered delicious food that really made the stay even more enjoyable.
Overall, The Lost Camel Hotel exceeded my expectations. A comfortable stay, great service, and an ideal location—I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
The best hotel in all of Australia.
The staff is very helpful and kind, ready to solve our problems.
The room was very clean, far above the standards of all other hotels in Australia. The breakfast was quite varied and averagely good.
A note of merit to this hotel for the presence of the laundry, with washing machine and dryer, very useful for travelers.
The only hotel I would return to in Australia, I recommend it.
The air-conditioning temperature in the room is fixed and the temperature cannot be adjusted. Only a piece of cloth is provided as a quilt. It is quite cold. There is a blanket but it is a bit old. Finally, we decided to buy a cheap blanket in the supermarket. The music is very late at 11 o'clock in the evening, so be mentally prepared. There is no remote control for the TV in the room.
The hotel is well located to shopping and restaurants, as well as easy vehicular access. Their downside is the limited undercover parking and the need to book a space. Otherwise, you will need to use available, nearby public spaces.
The hotel has automated checking, but staff were on hand to make sure all goes smoothly. If a second key is required, it has to be generated by staff.
Breakfast is not done in the hotel, but a voucher is provided to go to Salvatores Cafe in the same building. You have a choice of dine in or take-away.
Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable.
Firstly, the staff here were really great and very helpful. The pool was nice but the fitness centre is way below par. Free parking but a bit of a faff to get to. One of the comfiest beds I have ever slept on though!

RRip RipWas expecting more given the price we paid, apparently already considered low season.
The pool lagoon was disappointing and expected higher standards, more staff and cleanliness.
Hotel restaurant food expensive unless ******** and apparently would have great discount.
Room service was good and value for money.
Expected small amenities like free bottled water to be more generous given the heat. Apparently just 2 bottles per check in although we stayed 2 nights .
Bathroom and toiletries reasonable although bathroom door had a drum which made it inconvenient to open as door swung closed automatically ..
GGuest UserThere's a breakfast buffet, a swimming pool, and a BBQ buffet inside. Parking is conveniently located right next to the rooms, which is great.
However, we initially had a hard time finding our room and circled around several times before finally finding it 😅 Overall, it was a fantastic experience! Highly recommended! 👍🏻
KKatherineGood location and service. Cleanness needs improving, there is a big dead cockroaches under the chair for our entire stay but not been removed. Seems like they just made the bed (didn't change them, just made them) and changed the towel, that's all.
The shower design is not great, and it is almost guarantees to get wet everywhere after use.
Tones of insects even in the room, especially in the evening, no door open, so I'm not sure where they came in... but I guess that's deserts.
It's great to have a free laundry facility, which is very helpful. Free activities were a nice touch.
Surprisingly, there are no complementary bottles of water in the room when the hotel is located in the deserts, very unusual compared to all the hotels we stayed.
Nice that we are allowed to use other hotels' facilities, so in general, we did enjoy our trip, and thank you for the friendly staff.
GGuest UserPerfect hotel location for our needs since it is very close to the airport and the Marrara sport complex (10-15 min walk) in which our event took place. What we love most: very clean hotel room, convenient park ing spot right in front of our unit at an extra cost, great pool facility and some restaurant and coffee shop option on site. The room we booked was really spacious. We had a very pleasant stay.
GGuest UserSuperior location. The hotel has good facilities. In front of the gate is the river. It's safe, too. I do a lot of running in the morning. Next to it is a new shopping mall. Later, I found that there are many noodles to eat. You can also see the scenery outside. Very good.
SShammrockThis is the closest campsite to Kings Canyon, a good place to rest if you're going to Kings Canyon. Our room only had a bed; you had to use the communal bathroom for washing, but it was convenient. Cooking was only possible in the communal kitchen, so you needed to bring your own utensils and tableware. There were a lot of insects at the campsite, as it's in the mountains, so be prepared. There's a trail next to the campsite leading to a small mound, which is a great spot for watching the sunrise.
GGuest UserBest features: we had a ground floor unit. So we had a door out to the garden. The bathroom was clean and medium size. Beds perfect. Space-not cramped. Room additions fine for making your own breakfast microwave and fridge included also a table and chairs outside on concrete great for washing dishes. The hotel is located away from passing traffic. Air con and fan worked well..
Downside: if you’re staying a while and want to go shopping you have to get to Casuarina shops to get a local bus to city centre. Otherwise it’s approx 30min drive.
Casuarina Is an air-conditioned Westfield type shopping mall. We liked it and would stay again
Didn’t get s chance to try the restaurant and pool but the menu look good a pond seemed welcoming.
GGuest UserLarge room with a wonderful view over the city. A short 5 minute walk to the mall. Wonderful basic complimentary breakfast with opportunity to upgrade to a la carte.
GGuest Userwe enjoyed a lot our stay in Desert Palms, cosy bungalows, walking distance from city, good pool, very friendly, helpful and welcoming staff. It is great the bungalows have a kitchenette well equiped. Beds could be better but overall we sleep well.
