Chita Shikoku Pilgrimage: 19th Pilgrimage Site: Koshoin

Going one block further along the Handa Canal and turning at the Kunimori storehouse, you will find the 19th place of worship on the Chita Shikoku Pilgrimage, Koshoin. There is a parking lot to the right of the tiled entrance gate. There are many brewing companies around, which are the commercial center of Handa City. However, I felt that this place was quiet, spacious, and open. When you enter the entrance gate, the main hall is in front of you, and inside it is like a garden. It is a beautiful place that is well-maintained. The pine tree to the right of the entrance gate is a sacred tree, so it is very impressive and worth seeing. On the left side of the main hall is the Kobo-do Hall where Kobo Daishi is enshrined, and to the right of that is the Dakishi Daishi, where you can pay 100 yen to hug the Jizo statue and have your wish granted. After worship, when I passed in front of the main hall to receive a goshuin, I found a footprint that is said to be a Buddha's footprint.
