The carp streamers at Handa Canal began in 2003. At that time, it was the only canal in the prefecture to be certified by the Ministry of the Environment as one of the "100 Scented Landscapes." It was started to allow more people to enjoy the scenery of the Handa Canal. It is recommended because you can walk to see it from the station and there are many sightseeing spots in the surrounding area.
