Dongjiang Lake Suman Homestay (Xiaodongjiang Scenic Area)

The room was spotless, and the owner clearly puts a lot of effort into maintaining the place. It's truly excellent.

Out of all the guesthouses on the street, this one definitely had the most style. It's freshly renovated with a modern touch and spotlessly clean. Being a local family-run establishment, personally managed by the owners, it felt wonderfully warm and welcoming. They even upgraded our room when they learned we were traveling with children, which was incredibly thoughtful. The young owner/manager was charming and polite, and the lady boss was exceptionally kind, offering practical and useful travel advice. The whole experience was incredibly heartwarming and left us feeling completely satisfied. A truly exceptional stay that far exceeded our expectations!

It's located right by the scenic spot, which is incredibly convenient! Perfect for waking up early to watch the morning fishing, then heading back to the guesthouse for a quick nap. The guesthouse was immaculately clean, and I absolutely loved its Wabi-sabi aesthetic. They provide disposable bath and face towels, and the bathroom has excellent wet and dry separation. They really thought of everything! We even received a room upgrade, and the host was genuinely lovely.

This is a fantastic homestay. The host is incredibly friendly and thoughtful, making us feel right at home the moment we arrived. The Xiaodongjiang Scenic Area is conveniently located less than a ten-minute walk to the right of the homestay entrance. Parking right outside is also safe and secure. The room was spotless. The mattress had the perfect balance of firmness and softness, and the pillows were incredibly comfortable, guaranteeing a good night's rest. As someone who is very particular about beds, I can confidently say my sleep quality was excellent, easily a 90/100. I was so comfortable that I completely forgot to take photos of the room! Additionally, I must give a special shout-out to the showerhead and water temperature. They were the best I've encountered on this entire road trip – so easy and convenient to use. I even took pictures because I plan to replace mine with a similar one when I get home! I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Chenzhou. Right next door to the homestay, there's a rice noodle breakfast shop run by a military wife. It opens early, around 5 AM every day. If you're planning to wake up at 6 AM to catch the misty morning fishing nets on the Dongjiang River, grabbing breakfast there is incredibly convenient.

We woke up at 5 AM to see Xiao Dongjiang enveloped in morning mist. By about 9:30 AM, our visit to the scenic area was over, and the sun was already getting strong. Being able to head straight back to the guesthouse for a nap afterwards was just perfect! The guesthouse owner was also very hospitable. My only suggestion is to add mini-fridges to the rooms. Especially in summer, a cold drink after returning would be a real treat!

First off, let me make it clear: I'm not a shill or a paid reviewer; this is a genuinely positive review I'm writing voluntarily. The hotel is newly renovated. I actually saw the room in person before deciding to stay, as I was worried the online photos might not match reality. But it exceeded my expectations. The front desk even offered complimentary fruit for guests, and the owner was incredibly kind and understanding. I overslept and checked out 40-50 minutes late, but they didn't rush me at all. The hotel's decor is very 'Instagrammable.' The facade looks fantastic from the street. While there are many guesthouses/B&Bs along that strip, this one truly stands out as the most aesthetically pleasing. Regarding room hygiene, I'm extremely particular. My sensitive skin means I get very itchy and uncomfortable in unclean hotels. I've even checked out immediately from hotels costing 500-600 RMB because of skin irritation, which I attributed to an unclean bed. However, this hotel had none of those issues; it was incredibly comfortable and spotless. They also provide disposable bath towels and cups, which I think is a really thoughtful touch. In short, if you're visiting Chenzhou and planning a trip to Dongjiang Lake, definitely choose Suman. It offers incredible value for money! This is the first time I've written such a detailed review, and I wholeheartedly recommend it!
