We stayed here as we were going to castle coombe race circuit so great distance for here! We stayed with another couple and we had 2 of the superior rooms. Our room had the double shower and the freestanding bath tub. I decided to be antisocial so I could spend some time in the bath and make the most of it and it was amazing! To top it off it would have been nice to have had some kind of ledge somewhere to put a drink/your phone The room decor was lovely. I will say that on first glance it looks great but it could really do with a bit of renovating/maintenance i.e there was a blind missing on one of the windows in the bathroom, peeling paint, toilet really noisy, skirting boards upside down (lol) plug socket come out in bedroom and the doors all slam really loud. We ate in the restaurant twice. We was checked in by the landlord and he generously gave us 20% off our meal for 1 night. Food was nice - service a bit on the slow side even though it was super quiet. The meat was a little on the dry/overcooked side, but edible. The passionfruit dessert was to die for and i really enjoyed the mini camembert starter which was a perfect size. Only feedback was I think the bar manager was a little on the abrupt side when I asked for a pint glass without a stem and he told me that it was a pint glass - yes I know i just dont want one with a stem! We would however stay here again as it was a very good price and good location for what we was doing. It has a huge carpark which will be ideal for our car club and we are looking at booking the whole place up next year with other members.

This is the worst experience I have ever had in a hotel and I stay in them at 2/3 days a week. I stayed in a room and got bitten, moved to another room and told to speak to the manager the next day. The next day no manager. Told no management on site and then 2 managers turn up??? Told I look like I have had an allergic reaction by Dave. Ushered out the door. Promised a refund and none given. Contacted greeneling and they send me a generic letter they haven’t even filled in correctly Not taken seriously and they don’t even care I will never use a greene king again The worst customer service I have ever known

Since the team changed, what was once lovely is now tired and neglected. Food is mediocre. Nearly £4 for a side of frozen chips, and a portion size that wouldn't feed a toddler. Room 8 is small, grubby, and it would be nice to be able to have the bed lamps on without the centre ceiling light. Unfortunately they are all wired up together so it's bright light or darkness. Had to have toilet light on and door wedged partially open.

Let’s start with the pros: big car park and convenient location. That’s it. There are no more Cons: I don’t have time to list them all. We had to locate a member of staff to serve us a drink . The chairs at our table were filthy and stained, we swept the food off onto the floor which was also dirty My hunter’s chicken had been microwaved for far too long and no longer resembled anything edible m. No chef would have served that. They clearly just reheat delivered food. All I heard was waiters apologising to tables about the food. It’s a shame it could be great here.

The food was excellent, especially the fine dessert passion fruit cheesecake with raspberry sorbet, and a particular mention for the superb ale pie. Service was good, staff very friendly

Spent a few days here in order to visit the local area where past family used to be. Nice room which was certainly large enough & nice enough. Apparently, fit for a queen, which it once was, it's now in need of some TLC/repair, as was the narrow corridor leading to it in particular. Staff were very friendly & in particular, Dave, who always found time to chat with us & make our stay even more pleasant.

We had a good stay at the Cross Hands Paul and the team made us feel welcome. The food was good and plentiful. My room although clean was tiny and in much need of redecoration. The road noise woke me up at 5:30 both mornings. So pros and cons but I would stay again.

Absolutely brilliant staff, nothing was too much for them. They went above and beyond to offer help at all times. The food was great, and the room was clean, tidy, and perfect for a good night's rest. This is the second time i have stayed here, and I can't wait to return again in the near future! Would definitely recommend staying at this beautiful place.
