Fantastic little Inn. Stayed for one night between Lake District activities at honister and buttermere. Around a 30 minute drive from both. Across the road from bassenthwaite lake which was perfect to cool down in after an active day. We stayed in room 25 which was delightful! Perfect for a family of four. Lovely little communal garden with a picnic bench. Easy parking. Staff lovely, and food was great! Will definitely return!

Many a time travelling up to Maryport, we have passed the sign for the Pheasant inn and said we must go there some day. So we have just had the one night winter break which included dinner, bed and breakfast for £115 per couple (there are cheaper rooms available) and what a lovely time we had and exceeded my expectations! We spent some time in the snug in the afternoon and then had a very pleasant evening meal and more after dinner drinks. The room was very nice and we had a very comfortable sleep and breakfast was lovely. All staff extremely pleasant. Will definitely visit again soon.

Wow, wow, wow. Our fourth stay at this lovely hotel in our favourite room. The room was very clean for us and our two doggies and the bed comfortable. Whoever was the chef on monday 27th was on point with our meals, delicious. Richard looked after us, booked us in and made sure we were happy. Thankyou Richard! The breakfast staff were friendly and attentive and the doggie sausages were well received. Looking forward to returning soon. Jane, Derek (humans) Lily and Isla (doggies).

The room was very comfortable, small details like the curtains hanging off the rails let it down. Ground floor room (17) also meant we were very aware of of people above us during the night and early morning

I suppose that this was my own fault. I used to stay here when it was a private hotel and it has a lovely cosy country feel. Now part of a chain and they have done an excellent job of stripping the charm from it. From the impersonal booking to the mundane menu, at times this felt more like a hostel than a hotel. I have to add that all the staff were great but they were operating in a straight jacket. I booked direct with the hotel some months ago and it seems that I paid top dollar. Booking, com is offering rooms now at 1/3rd what I paid. For my trouble I was put in a room in the annex that just about qualified as double. I am so pleased that my partner had to cancel, there wasn't room for her as well. In the annex soundproofing was lax. I could hear people come and go. Fortunately, my neighbours were very well behaved so I did get a decent nights sleep. The picturesque building belied the reality this is just a premier inn in disguise. Eat out.
