Lovely looking venue & area was great Pub Service was fair, felt like we kept getting forgotten. Meal was fair but very expensive for what they delivered to our table - drink main and dessert £150 with their service charge for 2 was excessive.

My wife and I stayed here on Wednesday 18/09/2024 and we were very disappointed with the accommodation - 2 bedroom cottage (no. 86). This place is dirty and run down; it is need of a thorough renovation and deep clean. There was green mould on the shower door seal, the carpets are stained, there was dust where the carpets meet the skirting board, the newel post to the stairs has black grime marks and, the cupboard under the stairs stinks of dirty water possibly coming from the filthy looking mop stored there. The bath tub has chips in the enamel, the washbasin is both chipped and cracked, the chrome on the tap has worn thin such that the brass colour beneath is showing, the washbasin plug does not work, the heated towel rail is rusty, the paint is flaking off, the hot plates to the cooker are corroded in the centre. The power cable to a lamp in the bedroom is too short to reach the plug and rather than get an electrician to professionally extend it they simply used an extension lead thus causing a trip hazard. The hot water is scalding hot - but at least there should be no bacteria in the pipes. Quite frankly, I find it disgraceful that this cottage is still being rented out. On the plus side the food was very good. However, the menu pricing is misleading because it states "discretionary 12.5% service charge included" - note is says 'included' and not 'will be added' - but when you pay your bill 12.5% is added. This is such a shame because Hambleden and surrounding areas, including Marlow and Henley on Thames is a very nice place to visit.

Nice room, management, staff and respectable dinner prepared with care in characterful and comfortable environment. Everything in our bedroom worked and provided a peaceful stay (except for some irritating unrestrained children). Breakfast however was very limited and of that available, expensive. No fruit, no yogurt, no cereals, toast, nuts etc. etc.

Stopped for a light lunch. £18 for a stag and huntsman ploughman’s. It was billed as a light lunch ploughman’s with sausage rolls. ( is that more than one?) I doubted there would be more than one roll . However the meal was missing even one sausage roll or rolls…. And very little else on the plate. The staff were apologetic and provided a very small sausage roll (good quality) but the sort of size you would get from an M&S mini roll. The food was presented on the smallest of boards - literally a finger pinch of salad!. Great location - but really a rip off in terms of the food. Stopped at the village shop afterwards for a Mars bar …. Be prepared to be disappointed.

Best place I’ve ever stayed. Rooms and staff amazing. Garden is a lovely spot for a bit of lunch. Take a walk in the village there is a lovely river. The church is a very interesting place to visit. Josh is the best host I’ve had in a restaurant. He goes above and beyond.

We went, just for lunch. I have to say we were delighted our server, Josh, was brilliant. We had an excellent lunch and glass of wine. Not too expensive but delicious plus great service what more can you ask for. We will be back again soon. Many thanks Jean and Lynda

Wonderful location and great staff who were extremely welcoming and helpful very pretty pub inside We stayed in one of their cottages opposite very cute but a little tired inside, there is one futon sofa to sit on so if more than 2 a little difficult. The bedding is of excellent quality The kitchen needs checking utensils and cups etc. It’s end of the season so hopefully after a refresh it will be back on track. That said it met our needs for one night. Would we return to stay - I’m not sure maybe when it’s had a refresh - can’t fault the pub - such a lovely place.

A wonderful hotel with the charm of old England. Stunning countryside with a super sweet little village. The rooms are very comfortable with tons of charm. The hotel has food in house which is very good. Server Charley was really wonderful making our stay special. Easy travel to Henley on Thames or Marlow. We would stay here again and again.
