Fabulous hotel and fantastic cosy bar area

Great night at Coppid Beech, nice room with balcony! & breakfast was really good too!

First impressions were good, the hotel exterior is great and there’s plenty of parking. The reception and bar area looked nice, and the fish tanks were impressive. Our rooms were nice, clean, as expected but nothing special for the price we paid. We ate at lounge/bar as we have small children and the restaurant opened later than we needed. The prawns I was served were not good. They assured me they were in date but they tasted and smelled very strong and several had a mushy texture. For the first time in my life I sent a dish back in a restaurant. Instead my dinner was a sandwich and crisps from the garage across the road. Getting to sleep wasn’t easy, sound insulation was not great and there was significant noise from the road outside and the hallways/other rooms. Kids running and shouting, doors slamming, someone knocking nearby for their grandad sounded like it was in our room. 8 hours after dinner, my daughter was up being sick and having diarrhoea. The hotel suggested we get a blood test to prove food poisoning but our local NHS service advised they don’t do that. We could have provided a stool sample but we were trying to salvage her birthday weekend and felt it inappropriate to put our 5 year old through lots of tests after her symptoms had improved. The hotel refunded the breakfast that we didn’t have (not much of a consolation given I had to buy alternative remedies/foods from a local Tesco), and without evidence of food poisoning have determined that they are not at fault. However, given that she rarely gets ill, and it was the first meal in weeks she’d eaten that wasn’t shared by at least one other person, no one else in the family got ill and her food was prepared at the same time and in the same kitchen as my spoiled prawns, we believe that this was most likely the cause of her illness. Whatever the hotel say about the use by dates and other dishes sold that night, the prawns on my plate did not taste or feel right at all. My daughter ended up sick and we had to cancel our day at legoland and go home. We would not stay here again.

Informed breakfast staff that I have coeliac disease and I was offered a freshly cooked full English breakfast which was lovely when it arrived. Bed was very comfy . Nothing negative to say about this hotel.

This was a great idea for Lego land. The room was lovely . The hotel offered a lovely meal. It was a nice family room with reasonable facilities and it was a great place it has made us want to come again.. the decorations was a little dated but clean and well looked after. The fish tank was wonderful!
