Best Western of Wise

Location: Frequently praised for its convenient position, particularly near attractions or events .

The Best Western is about what I expected as far as the condition. It was a bit more dated in some areas that could be easily fixed, like the shower curtain. The beds were comfortable and it was relatively clean, but my room had a very heavy smell of smoke and only one wash cloth. Overall- about what I expected for the price.

I did not have a pleasant experience and will not be staying here again. On May 30th, I checked in and was given a room (Room 216) that had black construction paper and binder clips for blinds. I immediately went down to the front desk and asked if all of the rooms were like that because I did not feel comfortable not having shades/curtains. The woman was nice and said she understood and switched my room. She said they were undergoing renovations and did not get the curtains back up yet. Overall, the new room was comfortable and worked out fine for the night. I checked out for an out of town appointment. I got back into town on June 2nd around 9 pm. I went to check in and there was no one at the front desk. I waited several minutes and then I called the phone multiple times. No one came nor answered the phone. I banged on the door, yelled, and continued to call. This went on for 40 minutes or more. I was about to call the police because I thought something had happened and then, I heard the elevator door. A woman (Suzi Nevaeh who left a glowing review for the hotel and herself below) stepped out and asked if I was checking in. She said she was just gone for a few minutes (which was a lie) to help a guest replace a lamp. She said she tried to make it quick. I told her that I no longer wanted to stay at the hotel and that I wanted to make sure my credit card would not be charged. She said I'd have to cancel through the third party site. I said I already requested the cancellation, but they had to get approval from the hotel to waive the fee since it was past the time to cancel without penalty. She didn't seem to know what she was doing, but said that I wouldn't be charged. I will be checking my card and will dispute any charges that show up from this place. No one should be away from the front desk for that amount of time. Who knows how long she was truly away from the desk before I got there. This jeopardizes the safety of the guests and hotel. Now, I have a charge on my credit card for the May 30th stay that was paid for with rewards points. They said it was charged as a no-show. The only person that can handle reversing the charge is never available when I call. I keep getting told that they will give him the message. Either they are not passing on the message or he is avoiding me. I've escalated it to corporate.
