This hotel has a large fitness center - but no exercise bikes of any kind. 3 ellipticals, 4 treadmills, and zero bikes. Stayed at lots of Marriott's, lots of other hotels, and every hotel advertising a fitness center has at least one exercise bike. The fitness center was one reason I chose this hotel, I need an exercise bike to help with a bad back. Not sure who chose the equipment for the fitness center, but 7 pieces of equipment with no bikes makes no sense No complaints about the room, it is a relatively new hotel. But there are lots of hotel's with fitness centers in Winnipeg that have bikes, won't be back to this hotel.

Our family of 4 stayed at the Residence Inn by Marriott Winnipeg in early September 2023. We stayed in a 1-bedroom King suite. The hotel was clean. The bed was comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was good (eggs, meat, waffles, yogurt, fruit, oatmeal, juice, etc.). The pool was fun for my kids; the water slide is fast. We did not use the gym. There was always plenty of parking space. The hotel location is safe and within driving distance to several restaurants. There was a noticeable multicultural vibe (customers and staff) at the hotel. Since we are a bi-racial family, that was fine with us. No problems here. I recommend this hotel.

My husband and I booked a one night “staycation” at the Residence Inn by Marriott for our 1 year Wedding Anniversary which was completely destroyed. When we arrived and tried checking in we were advised our credit card was declined. We had a set limit of $500 set on our MasterCard for our trip which should have covered a King suite plus $100 security/damage deposit and taxes. Shocked, I demanded a breakdown of the charges they were attempting to charge. The front desk staff member stated there was two transactions, one was $320 which cleared (cost of the room is what we understood) and $200 PLUS “room and taxes”. According to the front desk staff the $200 was for security/damage and would be refunded after our stay. We then asked if the $320 was the cost of our room and taxes, why we were being “taxed” a second time on the security/damage deposit. We also exclaimed that the security/damage deposit seemed very high. We had stayed in multiple hotels (4 hotels across Canada) in the past year and none had charged more than $100. The staff member seemed confused and kept repeating that the room plus tax was a total of $269. When we explained that we were not advised of this on booking and could not afford this unreasonable security/damage deposit, the staff member offered to get a Manager. The Manager walked out with an attitude and continued to argue that no hotel charges less than $200 for security/damage and mocked me by making faces. He treated us like second class citizens and didn’t care that our first wedding anniversary was being completely destroyed. It’s a day you can’t relive. I walked out in tears adding a few choice words for the “worst hotel EVER!!” Thankfully a better and more classy hotel was willing to do everything to salvage our night. Hilton Hotel at the Airport is not only a 4 star hotel but charged only $100 security/damage. Our total charge for a 1 bedroom king suite WITH taxes and security came out to less than the $320 the Residence Inn charged on our credit card and they NEVER tried taking out secondary charges equally double the hotel stay cost. Also, the manager insisted that the credit card company would automatically reverse the $320 charge if we called them which was completely untrue. We had to take out a temporary increase to book the new hotel. The credit card company said the $320 was at the Residence Inn’s bank on hold and they can’t recover it for 5-10 business days. I wonder if Marriott makes some good interest on that held rip off cash?!? This hotel should be investigated! Do NOT stay there. Other negative reviews have stated all kinds of strange “damage security” charges of differing amounts. Nowhere on the hotels website does it state is policy or amount they charge for security. It is also noted stated when booking and no confirmation of booking e-mail provided with breakdown of costs.

We were booked in the Fairfield Inn but were upgraded to the Residence Inn. It was nice to have the larger space and use of a freezer and kitchen. The room was generally good, the bathroom had a really nice large shower, but there were odd marks on the wall by the toilet? The front dest staff were good, but we noticed an unusual mix of guests, and got the feel that the hotel is being used for evacuees or something. Breakfast was overrun with people eating huge plates of food as if it was their only meal of the day - which maybe it was?! I realise it's good that they are being helped, but it made trying to eat there an unpleasant crowded experience both mornings we were there.

This hotel is very comfortable. The rooms are spacious, modern and clean. The beds are very comfortable. The breakfast is excellent - lots of variety. The only negative was that our room did not get cleaned when it was supposed to after the second night. So that was annoying because we needed new towels, coffee, etc. The front desk was surprised it hadn't been cleaned. The location is very good too. Walmart is right behind.

Great service. Good breakfast. Welcoming staff. Clean and up to date suite. We will definitely stay with you again. The suite had all the amenities of home. And it was easy to drive to all the shops we needed. Jeff Aris.

An unexpexted, cancelled flight, led us here. There were very few hotels in the city with any vacanices, that evening. The room was clean and comfortable, modern. We were lucky to find a decent place, the on site laundry facilities were needed and utilized by us.

The hotel was nice and the rooms were large (King room with living and kitchen). However, we stayed at the residence inn twice in a two week period. The first time the room had a very sour gross smell (like someone had been sick near the bed). After mentioning it to the front desk we got an apology. The second time we stayed there was a large (kids) hockey group staying at the hotel. This resulted in kids playing hockey in the hallways, running and screaming up and down the hall. We had to call the front desk both nights that we were there, both of which didn’t result in less noise. Traveling with a baby that needs sleep before having a 20 hour trip home, not successful at this property. Upon check out we did mention our dissatisfaction to which we got the response that they were aware and have had more complaints. I get it’s not the staffs fault but takin action to have them settle down, or offer compensation to guests who weren’t satisfied with there stay would have been the least. Would not recommend staying here due to the nature of their business (large kids groups)
