This is one of the few truly affordable oceanfront options left on this coastline. The fairly lengthy detour off of the traditional 101 route is worth doing for this unique corner of California. The room is simple, clean and uncluttered and the little balcony perfect for the roar of the ocean and the sounds of the coast. Coffee and a pastry downstairs in the cafe was perfect—just wish it were open for drinks and appetizers too. Perfect for a romantic stop on the way up to Eureka

Great location and views! Walking distance to everything, and the best breakfast/brunch spot is steps away from your room (Surf Point Coffee and Bistro). Ocean views!

The facility location is incredible - oceanfront with beautiful views from the sliding glass door that opens to a balcony. There was no screen on the door, so we were invaded by many flies constantly. The only way to contact staff for help was by text or phone. There was no resolution to this problem other than to have a rusted screen with holes placed that would not move. It had to be left open for air and to use the balcony so flies continued. The room has no A/C or heating so opening for fresh air was needed. Furniture was very old, covers were on cracked leather chairs, the mattress was so old it felt disgusting and unclean. The table wobbled, and there was not a clock in the room. Some electrical outlets were not working. Safety issues included a missing smoke detector with only the holder present, no security lock for the door, no phone in the room and cell service / WIFI were not reliable. You must be able to climb stairs and carry your own luggage up and down as there is no elevator or staff help . There is not an ice maker onsite either. To end this review on a more positive note - The Surf Point Coffee House which is downstairs but not in business with the hotel is fantastic with great food and friendly staff.

Amazing location. Scary as hell road in and out. Room was nice. Communication with management was horrible. Shades in room we're broken and in some cases missing.

Mediocre at best
Hotel is mediocre, towels and linens are extremely cheap. The upstairs rooms do have a gorgeous ocean view.
Paid for a King suite with Ocean view and hot tub. After checking in room did not have a hot tub, called manger and was notified that there’s only 2 rooms have hot tubs and those two were occupied. Had to explain that we should receive a refund since we paid extra and apparently they just book rooms that don’t exist.
Restaurant downstairs is the best part about the hotel.

Gorgeous lovely surroundings to enjoy the sounds and view of the waves on a black rocky landscape. A great escape to enjoy nature at its best. Foggy mornings, sunny afternoons, then watch the mist return for the evening. The bird life and deer watching was active as well.

This inn is beautiful and the oceanfront room was amazing. There aren’t many amenities and the internet was slow but the sights made up for it and after you go through that treacherous drive to get there it is nice to have a quiet place to rest. The bed was somewhat comfortable. The water pressure wasn’t great. There was one restaurant open the afternoon we arrived so there want much of a choice. The cafe attached to the inn had pretty good breakfast. I would stay there again.
