I can appreciate Mt View Grand is an older historic hotel, but accommodations are run down & desperately need updating. While the porch, front desk, bar & main floor are interesting & well preserved, the hotel rooms & halls are very disappointing. Chipped paint & scuff marks on walls, doors & base boards. The stained & ripped carpet throughout are not only an eyesore, but a trip hazard. AC system is out of date & controls don’t work properly.. so you either freeze or go without. The lighting in room is awful, particularly in the bathroom which has only 1 overhead, antiquated lightbulb. They do have a small vanity mirror in bathroom but that is also broken. The coffee maker didn’t work & furniture is falling apart. Some staff have been lovely, while others seem overwhelmed, dismissive & unhelpful. For a “resort” that bills itself as a wedding destination, they seem understaffed & unprepared for a large crowd. Most frustrating is the price gouging. Online it says breakfast is included when booking directly. Upon arrival we were told it is not included because our group is here for a wedding? Yet we still paid rack rate & are charged a hefty resort fee? To top it off, the rooms blocked off for the wedding overlook the HVAC, fans & concrete. For $800 for 2 nights our view was less than Grand & experience underwhelming.

Well, unfortunately, I waited a year to write this with because I was hoping that they would make things right. A year ago we rented the presidential suite with my daughter, her husband and our granddaughter. We had stayed here the year prior and had a really enjoyable visit in the Summit Suite and thought we would enjoy something larger. Our first impression was that it was lovely. The master bathroom was absolutely fantastic. As we started looking closely, we realized that the room itself was covered with dead flies i’m not talking five or six I’m talking piles of them with many live ones buzzing around. We immediately contacted the front desk, and they said they would send somebody up to vacuum. Then we noticed trying to go out on our balcony that there was hornets everywhere so we couldn’t use the balcony. They said that they were going to have a company spray, but they never made it to our side of the building in our three night stay. We also could not open any windows because there were no screens. The mini fridge was not working and that night when we unfolded the sleeper sofa, my daughter actually found dead flies in that and had several live ones crawling on her. I would think knowing that they booked that suite if it hadn’t been used in a while, you think they would send someone up to give it a quick clean we spent 2,300$ for 3 nights… The dining room chairs the cloth was stained as well. The previous year we ate at their restaurant this year we ate there and it was horrible and we never ate there again… The reason I waited a year was because after contacting and speaking with a woman name Sue she said they were going to be sending us a gift card to use for a future visit. Well it’s a year later and I’m still waiting for that gift card….

Mountainview Grand never disappoints. Lovely rooms. Gorgeous views. Lots of options to keep you busy from their game room, farm visits, movies and other choices. They have the best staff! We always enjoy the staff at the bar. Very personable and friendly. Enjoyed the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. Not our first time. Certainly won’t be our last!

My husband and I, along with two other couples, spent several days in Whitefield, New Hampshire, at the Mountain View Grand. Our stay was wonderful. It was off-season, so the weather was unpredictable, but we were never at a loss for fun things to do right at the hotel, surrounded by spectacular scenery. The food was excellent, and the restaurant staff made the experience even better. Grace, Duta, and Nikki, in particular, were warm, attentive, and professional. We look forward to returning and highly recommend the Mountain View Grand to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway.

Our recent stay at the Mountain View Grand Lodge was a very pleasant experience. The grounds were beautiful, the hiking trails were gorgeous, and the barn with all the animals was a wonderful touch. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, courteous, and attentive. The spa team was excellent—our therapists truly seemed to care about our well-being. We also appreciated the rich history and architecture of the building. During our visit, we enjoyed two dinners and two breakfasts at the bar and the Harvest Tavern. The dinners were flavorful and perfectly prepared. One small suggestion: we would love to see a few à la carte breakfast options in addition to the buffet. We travel often and make it a point to try Eggs Benedict wherever we go! Also, while your website mentions a “farm-to-table” concept, the breakfast offerings didn’t seem to reflect that as clearly—though the food was still satisfying. We had hoped to visit the wine cellar as well, but decided against it since we hadn’t packed the more formal attire it requires. Perhaps on our next visit we’ll plan ahead for that experience—it certainly looked inviting. Overall, we had a wonderful time and are already planning to return this summer. We can’t wait to see a sunset from that beautiful porch!

Our experience at Mountain View Resort, New Hampshire was truly disappointing from the moment we arrived. The customer care was extremely poor — staff were inattentive, dismissive, and even arrogant at check-in. We felt ignored rather than welcomed. For a resort that claims to be four stars, the service was shockingly subpar. The golf course was in terrible condition — dry patches everywhere, zero maintenance, and no attention to detail. It honestly looked abandoned. The rooms were another major letdown: very small, outdated, and with a terrible odor that made the stay uncomfortable. Everything felt old and neglected rather than “rustic.” Adding to the nightmare, it took multiple phone calls and days before anyone bothered to locate a simple item we accidentally left in the room. The lack of urgency or care from the staff was unbelievable. Overall, this resort seems focused on weddings and events, not on the quality of stay for regular guests. It’s very misleading for travelers who drive long distances expecting a relaxing vacation. Warning: Don’t be fooled by the online reviews — our stay was far from exceptional. Poor service, poor maintenance, poor management. One of the worst “resort” experiences we’ve ever had.

Fantastic location and facilities and room quality excellent however the dining experience was very poor although not the fault of the staff on duty that were very stretched with little or no help The restaurant was like a kindergarten with children running all over the place - we left unserved

The facility is well maintained. The food is excellent, and pricy. The views are what make it all a great value. If you want a view of the mountains, you want a room that faces south. I very much enjoyed getting a favorite beverage and sitting on the south porch. This is a historical landmark. The floors will creek a little.

The approach to the hotel is lovely. That’s about it. Tavern was brightly lit not at all like a tavern. Food took over an hour for dinner. No breakfast menu just a very expensive buffet. Provision store had nothing but candy and pastry. Not a healthy option in sight. Fortunately there is a lovely breakfast place down the road. Golf course was in terrible shape and it’s only 9 holes. At the pool the only good option was pizza. Spa charges $40 more for massages on the weekend. For the price, just not worth it. Just too much overcharging for mediocre service and amenities.
