We came here on a 5 day trip with a group. It is on the south side of the Tyne but very convenient for accessing Northumberland where most of our days were based. This was really nice hotel to spend a few days. It was very clean, the staff were caring and the food was very good. We really enjoyed it and would definitely use it again. I would definite use it again.

Having family who live in Whickham, I've stayed here a few times with mixed experiences. This time around, I was staying in Newcastle but visiting family in Whickham, and my Dad had chosen the Gibside for Sunday Lunch. Have to say, credit where credit due, I was blown away with the quality, quantity and value of the food - was really spot on, and the amazing Kelly looked after us so well. Kelly never stops and operates at 100mph, whether she's meeting, greeting and sitting guests, taking F&B orders, or bringing the food n drinks to the table. She was super polite and friendly, super hard working and is a credit to the hotel. Meal portions were HUGE, quality superb, and the value was amazing - I would have gladly paid double the price for the Sunday beef roast, and which was scrumptious and ensured my plate was clear once finished. Been a very long time since I've had as good a Sunday Roast in terms of quality, quantity and value - expectations were surpassed and we shall return. Kudos to the chefs and to Kelly, who delivered a Sunday lunch to remember!

Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and the bed was really comfy. A good location, lots of places to eat nearby. It’s not far from the metro centre and Newcastle city centre.

We stayed here as part of a group on a 4 day break. The room was fine - clean and very comfortable although looking a bit tired around the edges. The breakfasts were good. The evening meals were very good with terrific service from the evening staff.
