We visited for the Lazy Sunday lunch and overnight stay. The hotel and bedrooms do not disappoint, but there were a number of little things that did. Our lunch was booked for 2.30pm and we arrived just after midday. Understandably the rooms weren't ready, but we explained we need to change for lunch and would really appreciate them being prioritised. Our experience with the receptionists though, who could hardly look up from their screens and didn't seem to care less, got us off to a poor start. We were handed tags to put on our bags, which were then left in reception. Despite visiting twice to see if rooms were ready, or even just one, we lunched without being able to change/freshen up. Once our rooms were ready, the bags were still in reception and we carried them up, with said receptionists still stuck to their screens. The lunch itself was average (and neither did we receive the complimentary glass of wine each that was part of the offer), although it was better than the breakfast the next day which amounted to a really poor buffet offering and very slow service for anything ordered off the menu. I also think it's unacceptable to have breakfast finishing at 9.30am when people are holidaying. Another word of caution, there are NO taxis available in this part of the world on a Sunday ....... we were stranded in a village a few miles away and had to get a lift back off a kind bar staff member. On which note, and to finish on a positive, a shout out to Lee and Zak, who were very helpful and professional staff members. We had great fun, because we were in great company, but the experience could and should have been so much better.

We stayed at this property for 1 night while touring the Cotwolds. It’s an old structure so there isn’t an elevator or air conditioning. Our room was large and well appointed. Unfortunately, it had been warm for a few days and no one had bothered to open the windows before our arrival, making it very warm. Fortunately, there was a fan. The grounds are very nice. There’s quite a bit of outdoor seating for the pub/restaurant. The restaurant was very good. The service was good but the desk agent has to take incoming calls as well as serve guests so he/she can be quite busy. We enjoyed this property but the lack of AC is a significant drawback. The price point is relatively high so room units should be added.

Outstanding visit for 12 of us celebrating over 600 years of friendship. Room lovely, check in easy. With 6 couples, any little queries dealt with efficiently and tolerantly by front desk! We had the private dining room which was just perfect and our main waiter for the night , Ian was perfection. Setting is wonderful, lovely wooded countryside. The Arboretum, being next door was very convenient for a pre check in and lunch. Breakfast, again in our private dining room was well presented and speedily served. Only niggle was we asked for house red at dinner. Offered a Malbec or Merlot. Chose the Malbec. £46 for house red ( and we had had 2 so £92 ) thought was a bit steep. In all fairness, I did not check price when ordering! A memorable stay. Highly recommend.

I was so delighted to be back at the hotel where I have stayed for over 25 years. The welcome was as warm as ever, the staff were pleased to see me and I had meaningful discussions with a number of them. The management were there to greet me as always. I cannot think of a better place to stay in the beautiful Cotswolds.

This place is a mess… not because of the staff, not because of their effort or their professionalism. It’s simply because of the tools they’ve been given. Quite evidently, you can’t polish a turd. Our room was terrible, dirty, unloved and poorly presented, it was certainly not worth anywhere near £300 a night. We booked, travelled, arrived, paid for the room in full once we’d arrived but could then put a card on file to charge other purchases too (very unusual but became obvious why). The very reason someone behind the scenes has changed to this policy is because of the current standards of rooms available. DO NOT stay anywhere near the Silkwood Court if you do go. These rooms can be looked directly in to from passers by in both sides. The only way for any or any is to close all the curtains. Oh and the terrace is a small patch of gravel next to the court yard. We arrived, and were back in the car leaving less than 30 minutes later. A complete waste of time and effort, thankfully we had the room refunded. NOTE TO SENIOR TEAM: You have some great staff here, give them the tools they need. Stay in this current road and you’ll be losing customers but also hard to find brilliant staff. If you work within the senior leadership team, go and work here for a Saturday and take a look. You are responsible and you are letting your staff down. Also good to ask: If they have any weddings or events on. We would have been staying with a wedding and a large party group.

We spent 4 nights at this hotel in early June and can highly recommend both the rooms and the service . One of our party stayed in an accessible room and the hotel could not do enough to help and make sure it was suitable for our parties needs . Dined in the restaurant both for Breakfast and evening meal a few times and they always made sure the seating was suitable for an electric wheelchair and the food was lovely . Would have no hesitation in staying here again !

The Hare and Hounds is a beautiful hotel on the road between Highgrove House and Westonbirt Arboretum so was perfect for a night away for my husbands birthday. Lovely room, tastefully decorated, sumptuous towels and Moncton Brown toiletries. Delicious coffee on the tray and plenty of it. No biscuits though! Only other things we can comment on negatively is the shower which was very weak and the pillows which were neck breakingly overstuffed! The hotel food was very nice, the bar, restaurant and garden were lovely and service was faultless. Would definitely return, but take our own pillows next time.

The building itself and all of the staff were excellent. The food was brilliant, highly recommend eating here if you stay. The maintenance, cleaning, exterior grounds let it down massively. Was not worth the £280 (1 night) we paid for a ‘superior room’ facing the main road. Disappointed Unfortunately. Poorly finished decorating. Stains on carpets and furniture. Bed needs a much thicker topper if it’s 2 twins pushed together. 1 plug socket for a lamp, clock and phone charger. Fixtures/Decor etc not the luxury feel as described and shown in the advertising. Door closures need seeing to so they don’t slam - waking everyone on your floor up.

Im sorry but how can you get a sandwich wrong! We visited after our visit to westonbirt arboretum and haven't done so in a long time. We ordered two cheddar cheese and tomato chutney sandwiches and drinks... how they call it a sandwich I dont know! It wasnt cheddar and there was no tomato chutney! £10 50 for what a small portion of fries and some bread with a little lettuce not even watercress as advertised in the menu! Shocking, took ages will not be back again
