Splash Inn Dive Resort & Villas

This is a locally owned diver centric hotel. Frankly - it’s fabulous- simple - plain - super clean. The dive boats are a one minute walk. The reef is three minutes away. Literally three minutes. The food is hot and wholesome but close by are so many little restaurants. Plan on spending approximately US$100/ day if you don’t take up splash inn’s all inclusive package - which is very good. We are here for a month and we are enjoying every minute. Decent WiFi and Netflix etc in room. The whole of this area is pretty ‘local’ - never felt safer. The reefs are not as vibrant as Cozumel in my opinion but has a lot of variety. Fish life is fairly sparse but have seen eagle rays, turtles, morays and thousands of tiny smelt like fish. Nice walls and a few wrecks. Splash Inn is great if you want to keep it so easy and super chill.

This is the best place to stay in the West End. Rafa the manager and Christian the Dive shop manager were incredible. Special shout out to Sterling my dive guide for most of the week. Your love for the reef and people shine through brother! This place makes you feel like family.

Outstanding stay and trip with Splash Inn in Roatan. If you’re a serious scuba diver this is the place to stay in the West End. Rafael (hotel manager), Eli (front desk) and Christian (dive shop manager), will take very good care of you. The Splash Inn is located in the heart of the West End. Their rooms are perfect for two people and are a great value all things considered. I would recommend spending a bit more and getting a second floor room with balcony for the view. Their staff were very friendly and accommodating. Their boats are across the street and at their private dock. The dive staff were extremely knowledgeable of local dive sites and highly skilled. The food was good however would suggest just paying for breakfast and experiencing the local cuisine for lunch and dinner. Many wonderful restaurants (Drunken Sailor, Ginger, The Lobster House, Escondido, The Blue Elephant, Pura Vida, Sandy Buns) are just a minutes walk away (no rental car or Uber necessary). If you want to take an afternoon off, walk 5 minutes to the Half Moon bay and get a lounge chair at Pura Vida for $5 and pint size sangrias for $7. If you have an afternoon or morning off, Christian can arrange for an island boat tour (which we did) that takes you along the north shore to Punta Gorda. You’ll experience views from the ocean including multi-million dollar homes, a dolphin sanctuary, mangroves and local food in Punta Gorda. Net, highly recommend staying in the West End (West Bay has a nice beach but that’s about it, very “tourista” like) and staying at the Splash Inn. You won’t be disappointed.

Front desk service was a little hit-or-miss, but overall they were helpful throughout our stay. Our airport pickup was easy and much appreciated after a long travel day. The hotel is in a perfect location, central and walkable to all of West End, and it is attached to its own excellent dive shop and fantastic restaurant, which was super convenient, especially on rainy days. We had a small hiccup with our room, but they quickly apologized and fixed it. Everything was clean, and they handled all requests promptly. Bring earplugs for potential street or animal noise depending on your room. We pre-booked six days of three dives a day, and upon arriving early, we even squeezed in an extra dive. Chris, the dive shop manager, was easygoing and flexible. Our Divemaster, Sterling, was fantastic: friendly, attentive, and made sure everyone saw the marine life. It was true “princess diving,” where you carry your mask and fins once and they handle the rest. The all-inclusive dive and meal package (three dives a day, a night dive, plus meals) is a great deal. The restaurant was quick, convenient, and friendly, even when a large group of students arrived. Service stayed fast and cheerful the whole time. Sterling, Michael, and Chris were all fantastic and made our trip memorable. This was our second visit, and thanks to the incredible staff, we will absolutely be back again!

Nothing but good things to say about Splash! Booking is a breeze (ask for Marvin, he is very responsive and will ensure you get the best possible option). I usually avoid all- inclusive resorts, safe to say this is not one at all. It is individually owned (Ask for and say Hi to Paolo if you meet him. Very easy to talk to, he will show you his fishing photos) and operated by some of the best crew (Shout out to Sterling!). There is a set menu however, it is not buffet style and prepared individually for each customer. As for the quality of the food, everything tastes fresh and delicious. The rooms are clean and housekeeping is great. As for the dive shop, the manager, Chris, is pleasant and accommodating. A side mount diver, he may subconsciously make you think about doing a course. Saira, one of the divemasters, is amazing. She is very knowledgeable and her briefings, especially for night dives, are legendary! She can go into great detail about what kind of animals to expect, including how to identify their sex and mating behavior in the dark! Bonus, after a night dive, pizza on the house! Joe, another divemaster is fantastic as well. He can identify micros and larger animals like nobody's business.

I’ve been doing lots of diving at the splash inn and I also did my advanced open water there. I really enjoyed working with the instructors (G and Andrea). They are both awesome divers and a great guides when checking out the beautiful waters of Roatan.
