We had a long stay on the camp site & one night in the hotel. The camp site is amazing for access to the moor. The facilities are basic but good & cleaned regularly. The hotel is a bit of a time warp but I love it as it took me back to my youth and fun times in the south of Devon & on the moor. The rates are very affordable & the food very good. The staff are helpful & have a can-do attitude. We would definitely return to the campsite and if staying at the hotel, would ask that our room not be directly above the bar. We would also pop in for a meal if passing. I hope it won't change too much, it has character!

Stayed for one night on the way to Cornwall. Lovely B&B, great value for money. Food excellent. Staff very friendly. Lots of parking and nice walk around the back with lovely views. Comfy beds too. Hidden pool table was a bonus! Note: Passing lorries may wake you up in the night if the windows are open.

Nice people but the place requires a real freshen up. Sadly the room didn’t smell fantastically fresh which meant the window needed to be open all night and with the passing traffic noise it was very difficult to sleep. The room felt very 70’s but sadly not in a good way

Lovely place on Dartmoor - excellent food and beer
Really nice place - great fire, excellent food and beer. Room was just what I needed (and they surprised me with an upgrade). Staff were lovely. 12 hours solid sleep - couldn't have asked for more. Able to pre-order breakfast if wanted enabled me to have a lie in.

We live in the village, and thought we would go for a drink, the doors was open, lights were on, walked in, no one there the first time. the barmen decided to turn up and then said we are not open once we said sorry why is your door open? he replied with nothing. once open he served us. then tonight we walked in when it was meant to be open, door again was open, walked in, a group of people was there then at 5:45pm the people behind the bar said we are closed? sorry but these past landlady/guy. were terrible. i hear a rumour they are leaving. thank god! hopefully the new people who take over are alot more welcoming. these were terrible. a massive zero.

I have been visiting this pub on and off for around 40 years and staying there about once a year for the last 15. It has always been the source of great memories over these years and our last stay was no exception. There are 13 in our family aged from 4 to 62 and I wanted a pub where we could all be together that was somewhere on the western edge of the Moor. The Fox & Hounds was a great choice in terms of good food, drink (Jail Ale), accommodation, and location. All this topped by an excellent welcome from Crystal and her team, who really looked after us throughout the weekend. Sure, it wasn't posh, but then again, neither are we. Five stars awarded with no reservation.
