This hotel is off the interstate in a quiet area. There are a lot of options for food and bars around within 10 minutes drive, places to run, or walk. The staffs are courteous, breakfast is ok and the indoor pool that opens until midnight. Rooms are clean, with fridge but no microwave, the fitness center is a little small but good enough.

***1st message sent to hotel text service the night we checked in: We left right after we checked in to our room. We just got back to our room for the evening. The room smells very bad like mildew. When we got undressed to go to bed, we noticed the floor feels damp/wet & gross. ***2nd message sent to the text service the next morning after I talked to the lady at the front desk: Even when your head of cleaning walked in, she said: "whoa!" As soon as she smelled the room right when we opened the door. I guess this is your way of fixing the wet nasty floor for guests?!?! At least she was sympathetic, because she knows no one should've been assigned this room; and brought us blankets so we wouldn't have to walk on a completely wet floor. Also; when we got back last night, the air was on the coldest setting, I put the temp all the way up to 75, it's still only 66 degrees in the room... so that's broken also! We definitely should not be paying for this crappy room. I am not happy at all. The night person shouldn't have ignored my texts. The person at the desk this morning, offered to put in a work order, that totally wouldn't help our situation this morning... very nonchalant and didn't care. When I started explaining our situation, she replied "oh yeah..." so she knows we had a problem and texted, but she said sometimes they don't do a good job at replying to texts at night. This is not good customer service at all. When I checked out, I re-explained my situation to another male at the front desk. He said he'd give my info to the manager when she gets in about a refund. We stayed at this hotel for 13 nights as we were in Des Moines for a family wedding. In the time we were there our bedding (sheets) were changed once. Our bed was not made daily (as stipulated on the ‘Daily Services’ sticker on the bathroom mirror) our towels were not changed (unless we asked) nor the bin emptied (unless we did it ourselves). Pretty poor housekeeping even though they were on our floor daily….it appeared that if you were a long stay…you didn’t matter. It was disappointing considering how much they charged us p/night. It’s a shame as the hotel itself is quite nice. Some reception staff were quite dismissive when they were asked basic questions (‘I don’t know’…doesn’t cut it). Would I stay here again…no! Disappointing.

Our greeting from Pam at the front desk set the mood for a truly positive and memorable experience. While in Des Moines for State Baseball ⚾️, no other place could have been chosen that might have even compared to the superior quality and sincere service we experienced. A huge thank you to the entire staff at the Hampton Inn / West Des Moines.

I recently had a wonderful stay at the Hampton Inn West in Des Moines, Iowa. The rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable, making it easy to relax after a long day of travel. The complimentary breakfast was delicious, with a variety of tasty options to start the day right. A special shout-out to Heidi at the front desk—she was incredibly friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to ensure my stay was pleasant. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the area!

The hotel was not very updated. Not many amenities. The other Hampton Inn we stayed at had-updated decor, clean carpets, non-scuffed walls in the elevator & hallways. In the dining area, they offered a snack bag when we left. They also offered “fruit” water, which was very refreshing! I assumed the West Des Moines location was a franchise hotel vs. corporate.
