The only positive is the front desk staff are very friendly and accommodating. I got stuck in Iowa for an extra night and changed hotels after two nights here. The room had a funky smell. They don’t enforce their quiet hours as there were kids running around causing chaos at 10pm. One of the ice machines didn’t work. The gym is lackluster. The room is not equipped with a USB plug. Not impressed at all by this hotel and don’t understand the positive reviews.

Top tier member of the “Marriott frequent flier program” so am used to a warm welcome, bottles of water, friendly exchanges etc. - none of that here. Young lady asked for my cc card and said, “Oh, they gave you a room already” and handed me a key. Nothing else. Oh, she did tell me where the elevator was. Room 423 is the smallest in the building and the headboard extended into the little hallway to go to the bathroom. Odd. But it was clean, standard Courtyard. I went to get more luggage and asked for a couple of bottles of water — “Sure, just grab some out of the cooler over there.” OK. Thank you. Of the six or eight times we walked through the lobby and out the door - including when we left the next morning, we NEVER saw another staff member in the lobby. In fact, we saw no one! What a crazy place. It must operate by itself.

stayed here recently and the GM was litterally working all day and night tryin t get the hot water fixed. he was there at the front desk, talkin with guests, coordinating plumber just super involved. when the hot water finally came back on, he had the whole lobby clap for the plumbers as they left. no joke — the entire lobby was clapping, it was actually really cool. never seen anything like that at a hotel. mad respect to the GM and desk for carin that much. Shout to AJ at the bar!!💅🏻🥰

We had a great stay for two nights at this Courtyard and when there was an issue with the hot water the hotel manager Tom made us a priority and made sure things ended with a positive experience despite a difficult situation, which is a huge win these days in customer service. The hotel beds were comfortable, the check in staff was friendly and efficient and the coffee in the lobby was excellent. Location for the hotel was stellar and we had a great trip in Des Moines. Much appreciated!

I had booked a room for a work event-have stayed here in the past and it’s been great. Due to weather things got cancelled and they cancelled me and waived the fee. Not expected in the slightest when I called but very happy with their customer service!

Was passing through on business. Front desk was nice. Tried to downgrade me on a room I had already booked and paid for which was frustrating. The shower in the room had mold all around the floor to wall joint. Bed was comfortable and room was spacious.

Had a issue with the hot water while we stayed but honestly Gabby and the GM Tom made up for it. They both went outta there way to make sure we were taken care of. You don’t see that kinda service everywhere so it really meant alot. The area around the hotel is real nice too—lots of places to eat and shop. Even with the hiccup, we enjoyed our stay and would come back again.
