Xanadu, the sea view is superb. The food is good, suitable for relaxing yourself. The beach is great, the sand is round and doesn't cut your feet. The menu changes every day. It is rare for Chinese people to communicate in English. UnionPay does not support it. The Internet is only available in the restaurant and it is not reliable, but the wifi in their office is good and can be used in emergencies. On the island, you can email them to pick them up, or take the South China Sea cruise ship

Great resort and tucked away from everything. Beach gorgeous and beautiful blue water. Staff were accommodating and friendly.
Villa hut we stayed in was cute with a outside shower. Food was delicious.

I’ll start by saying that we came from Barefoot Manta where we had had an amazing experience so my disappointment with this resort is in comparison to that. The rooms are nice. They do have AC, fans, and a safe. They were average size (less spacious than Barefoot). Very pretty shower set up, on open air. It felt like the staff was not into it. It did not feel warm or fuzzy at all - like they were just serving the food but did not care about being there. This was the biggest difference with Barefoot Manta. The other big difference is that you have to pick your dinner time (6:30, 7:00 or 7:30) and by the time you show up, your table is preset. You can’t sit where you want and have limited flexibility if you want to sit with others. Not as conducive to meeting others. Food was mostly good and presented nicely. We enjoyed breakfast the most, with a combination of buffet items plus a selection from a menu. Can’t drink the water in the room. Need to go to the bars to get the water refilled. Good selection of activities but for many you had to pay (like the hikes). There is a binder in the room telling you which ones are free. Good set up if you have kids. Have like an activity center for the younger ones and saw a separate one for the teens. Did not go into either or know what they actually offer or if free. Staff at the dive shop was more amicable than any of the others. Reef no where close to as good as Barefoot. But if you go, the reef to the right of the rope they ask you to start from is better than the left.

I stayed at Octopus Resort and was extremely disappointed with the way we were treated at check-out. They asked us to pay for lunch even though we were leaving at 10 a.m., which made absolutely no sense. Despite explaining the situation calmly, the staff insisted multiple times, sighing in front of us as if we were causing a problem. To make matters worse, the two receptionists kept speaking in Fijian while looking at us, clearly trying to avoid transparency. It was unprofessional and made us feel disrespected. Only after 10 minutes did the manager arrive, and we were finally able to negotiate. Out of all the resorts we visited Blue Lagoon, Mantaray, etc. this was by far the worst experience. It’s really unfortunate, because the island is stunning, but the way guests are treated here is unacceptable.

Unfortunately, our experience at Octopus was quite underwhelming, especially given the $800 per night price tag and how wonderful other Fijian resorts have been in the past. The spa service was particularly disappointing. The treatment room had a main bright light on the entire time, which made it hard to relax. The therapist began by rubbing my face and cheeks, then strangely started braiding my hair halfway through. It felt like she didn’t really know what she was doing. She left the room partway through the treatment, came back briefly, then left again at the end without saying anything. I was left sitting alone in the spa centre, unsure whether the treatment had finished, so I eventually just walked out. Throughout our stay, many staff seemed unsure of what we were saying, which made even simple interactions feel awkward. It often felt like we were being a bother just for asking questions or requesting assistance. The drinks from the bar were sour and poorly made and there were limited options for snacks during the day. That said, there were a few positives. The beach is absolutely beautiful. Just as many other reviews have mentioned. And when we had to check out of our room at 9:30am, the office staff kindly arranged a day room for us until our boat departed at 3:30pm, which we genuinely appreciated. This was my fifth time visiting Fiji, and sadly, Octopus was by far the most disappointing experience compared to the warm hospitality and high standards we’ve come to love elsewhere in Fiji.

"Our trip to Yasawa Island in Fiji was truly unforgettable. The resort staff and the overall experience were definite highlights. Despite heavy rain upon our arrival, the resort manager and team maintained a warm and welcoming demeanor, making us feel just as comfortable as if it were a sunny day. The next morning, we were fortunate to go snorkeling and then enjoyed an evening kava ceremony hosted by Atu and his crew, followed by an entertaining crab race. The entire experience reinforced that material possessions are not necessary for true happiness and beauty. Tip- try get in to stay on a Friday evening to experience the cultural performance performed by the whole team and absolute theater of 9 course dinner 🍽️ I cannot thank the entire team enough for providing us with such a memorable and meaningful stay. They showed us that life's simple pleasures can be just as rewarding as any materialistic pursuit."
