Sonesta ES Suites Chicago Waukegan Gurnee

Stayed here for my son's bootcamp graduation. Had no issues with anything everyone here was very friendly. It's close to base and other amenities. It is in a buisness park so it was away from the craziness. Would definitely stay here again if I ever have to travel back to this area.

Nice enough, clean, quiet. Pool area is great but hours are 10-6? Pretty good breakfast. They need to address the malfunctioning common area and building door lock system. Nothing like repeatedly being locked out of a hotel, that ******.

The 2 room suite is perfect for taking our son's family for a multi-day excursion to Six Flags. Beds were comfortable, love the new wood plank floors, and breakfast was one of the best we've had domestically. They are in the process of replacing furniture and the sofa bed was definitely showing some age, but it was comfortable enough. The staff was friendly and helpful. We will stay here again.

The hotel was clean and comfortable, but in the middle of getting a refresh when we arrived. The 2 bedroom suite had plenty of room for 5 of us. The full kitchen including stove was nice. It was fine for a quick visit for a Navy graduation. It was approximately 10 minutes from the Navy bootcamp base. We had family staying in the 1 bedroom suite, and the chairs had the vinyl peeling off of them. There was no stove in the 1 bedroom suite. My family enjoyed the basketball court, (free basketball usage but they did ask if you wanted to buy the basketball), the pool was not opened yet. We were on the 2nd floor, and you heard the people above us, 3rd floor, slamming things around and brawling all night! When we complained, we were told security was about to come to our room for a noise complaint. Maybe the people on the first floor heard the 3rd floor brawling and thought it was us? If so, those are really thin walls and floors! The front desk staff was friendly but felt overly friendly and unprofessional. You had to hit a bell to get their attention, they were too busy socializing in the back. We also needed to go to the front desk to ask for anything we needed because the telephones didn't work to the front desk. (I heard the lines were down for a month). With the exception of asking for extra towels, just about every time we asked for something we were told no, and given an excuse or other option. I went home after the reserved stay, but my son wanted to extend his stay 1 night to stay with our Sailor longer and was told its $200/night if I have the hotel front desk book it, but $91. If we go to *******. It felt like they couldn't be bothered to even look in the system. Also no free late check out option. All and all, the Sonesta ES suites served its purpose for our visit. Would I be back, most likely not. I think there are better local options similarly priced and in close proximity to the Navy bootcamp base. To me, the customer service experience was lacking and besides being clean, customer service is my 2nd most important qualification for a hotel.

Cancelled the reservation. After already charging an additional 23.00 per night in case of cancellation or change (Navy Graduation dates can change) making the room cost almost 900.00 for 4 nights they then sent an email advising of an additional 5.00 per night parking fee. Way to take advantage of Navy families who are already struggling with expenses. Ew. Do better.

Horrible place. They charge to park. Paid over $1000 for 5 nights and I find out at checkout they charge $5 a day to park, plus tax!!! The room was old, the carpet was furniture needed to be replaced years ago. Not to mention the noise from above.
