Kobe Suite Resort

Hotel is amazing. The ladies at reception are lovely. Friendly, very welcoming sorry bad with names. Thank you girls . Abigail was such a sweetheart, attentive and went above and beyond.she recommended some nice restaurants around, and checked if we needed transportation to the airport. Was very nice of her we appreciated the gesture. Special thanks to her. The rooms are beautiful. Spacious, great and well maintained facilities. Just the living room felt abit stuffy even with the fan and window open. Maybe better to fix an Ac in the living room as well. Breakfast would say was okay. The pastries weren’t all that looked very dry. The beach and pools are very clean. Well maintained facilities.

We stayed at the Kobe Suite for 7 nights after traveling through Kenya, including city trips, hiking and a Safari. It was the perfect place to relax for us. The spacious suites are beautifully decorated, the balcony is big enough to have lunch by yourself. The pools always had space for hotel guests in spite of having day guests, too. The beach location is the most beautiful along this part of the beach! The Italian food served at the restaurant was mostly great, sometimes a bit lame, but we were not in Kenya to eat Italian, therefore ok. Plenty of places around to try out by taking a Tuk-Tuk. The staff was very friendly (with only a few exceptions), and especially the morning crew serving breakfast was fabulous and always in a good mood. We would return any time!

Fantastic beach location but when tide is in unable to walk on the beach. The suites are large however they are very dark, even with all the lights on, also our bathroom was quite tired. All the electric sockets are European rather than the 3 pin Kenya socket, presumably due to a lot of guests being Italian. If you’re going for a true Kenya experience then this isn’t the place as all the staff speak Italian rather than Swahili. The food was very good although due to the restaurant being open to the public we found service was slow. Staff were very friendly and helpful

One of the nicest restaurants on Watamu beach. Also a hotel but we went for lunch. Perfect shady spot looking onto the beach. Attentive and friendly staff. Delicious food ( lot of choice on the menu) and made a big effort with someone in a wheelchair.

Enjoyed the stay. Shame about the room. Pros: Lovely staff, low key laid back (non-intrusive) beach club vibe, good restaurant, great views and good sheltered pool at back. No sight of the curio market and the massed sun beds on the beach in front but slightly to the left of the hotel. Cons: A rock hard mattress (which, when we checked out, they said they would have changed if we'd asked). Room is large but has the colour, charm and minimalist feel of a concrete bunker. No hot water came through the shower, which had to be fixed. Immediately, behind the room (Room 18) - about 3 metres away - there's a fence, the other side of which is an industrial-size washing machine which thunders into action twice before 7.45 a.m. and continues afterwards.

Urgent: changes needed A wonderful hotel that needs make important changes to keep its reputation and 4* rating. We have stayed at this hotel for many years and enjoyed its fabulous position, great ambience, excellent restaurant and delightful staff. However, there have been recent changes under new management that need addressing Over the busy holiday period non-residents were allowed to pour in from the beach having reserved pool side beds for the day. 20 or more beds crammed together around the main pool available for a few dollars in preference to hotel residents who can only find beds around the family pool where small numbers of beds are available. If this is allowed to continue Kobe will become an overstretched beach club rather than a 4* hotel . The second change results from new restaurant management. The food this year did not live up to its reputation as one of the best restaurants on the beach. Missing items from the menu, frequent overcooked food, a much inferior wine list- only a single white available by the glass- and if you don’t like South African chardonnay you have a problem. Where were all the splendid Italian wines previously available. Lastly, no interaction of the restaurant manager with the guests, which was previously a major feature, and little supervision of the restaurant staff. This was until recently a superb hotel as confirmed by the many positive views reported on Trip Advisor. However, times have changed and the these new issues need to be resolved if the hotel is to retain its 4* status.
