Originally the kitchen of a large Victorian home built in the 1860s, this elegant, unique English basement apartment has seen a lot of history here in the Nation's Capital, and its current incarnation is versatile, sleek and compact with sunny front windows that receive lots of morning light.
The unit is equipped with cable, WiFi, a 43" smart TV, a Bose stereo and a full-size washer/dryer. Dish and laundry soap are provided, as are shampoo, conditioner, soap, a blow-dryer and clean towels. Bed linens are provided. Inquire about additional maid service if you need it. There’s a grocery store, a convenience store, and a liquor store within a block, and up 14th Street there’s a Whole Foods and a Trader Joe's.
There is street parking only, and on request a residential parking permit is provided at no charge. The permit’s allows parking in the restricted areas around the home. You will need to provide your vehicle's plate number, state, make and color in advance of your arrival when requesting the pass.

The accommodations were perfectly located. We found on street parking nearby. (Didn’t move the car after some first day arrival activities). We walked to Smithsonian and many restaurants that Tom recommended. The rental was well equipped, up to date, and very clean.

Great stay in D.C.
Very nice apartment, in a nice neighborhood. Check in was a breeze, Tom gave us detailed instructions and he was great to communicate with and very helpful. The apartment had everything we needed. The kitchen had plenty of pots and plans and dishes for some evening meals. Thanks for a great stay!

Fun in DC
This apartment has everything you could think of. Even coffee and just about any spice or kitchen item you may need. Very comfortable bed and so quiet. Great location to all DC has to offer. Metro just a couple of blocks away. We enjoyed the national mall and museums. The Wharf and National Harbor, a short water taxi ride from the Wharf.

Definitely recommended!
We stayed in the apartment as a family of three for our vacation. The apartment is in the basement, so it is naturally a bit darker, but it is very spacious overall. A real highlight is the large kitchen, which makes self-catering very easy. The apartment has a separate bedroom and a pull-out sofa bed, which was very comfortable. There is also a backyard area where you can sit outside in the evening. A washing machine and dryer are available. Unfortunately, there are sometimes rather shady people hanging around outside the apartment both during the day and in the evening, which did affect our sense of security a bit. Communication with the host Tom was absolutely positive; he was very helpful and eager to answer questions or solve any problems. There is a bike rental station in the immediate vicinity, and two supermarkets are just around the corner. The nearest subway station is about a 5–10 minute walk away. Overall, we would definitely recommend this apartment and would happily return.

Ideal location for DC walking visit!
Tom was an excellent host who was very accessible and helpful in every way......from the seamless check in process to proactive warning texts about road closures, etc. The apartment was very clean, tasteful and comfortable. My only complaint is the number of bugs (specifically mosquitoes) surrounding the front door lights that made coming in the door a challenge. The location was excellent.....providing easy walking access to everywhere we wanted to visit in DC for a weekend. I would definitely recommend this property, and would consider again for a future DC visit.

DC vacation
Very clean and efficient. Close, walking distance to everything we wanted (mile and a half was longest but easily doable). Would definitely recommend to friends and family to stay there
