Wangdue EcoLodge

Kezang is resort manager and is SO intent on taking care of his guests! This resort is set very privately on a hill overlooking the river. It is peaceful and the gardens on the property are organic and supply all the veggies for the meals. The rooms are spacious and very clean and the bathrooms are huge with great showers and plenty of towels. Food is all hand prepared in Bhutanese style and very plentiful and tasty. This is a family run resort that is simple but rich in Bhutanese hospitality. Would definitely recommend to any traveler who is seeking Bhutanese cuisine in a beautiful and peaceful setting. Beautiful ecolodge with spacious room and huge bathroom! Waking up to an amazing view in the morning! Cats and dogs are free roaming which makes it even more homey! Only wished for better lighting in the room and a less bumpy road to the hotel!

Clean and well kept hotel. Warm and gracious hospitality. English is spoken fluently by some staff. Wholesome breakfast and dinner and our request for less salt in the cooking was attended to. Last but not least of course the wonderful view of the dzong!

The Rooms are comfortable with excellent service from the manager. The Bathroom is huge. You get an Excellent view of Wangdue Dzong and organic food is served Do stay here if you are seeking a peaceful respite in nature away from crowded areas

The property and the amenities live up to the 'eco' tag in the name . The staff are very welcoming and make one feel at home right away. The scenic location only adds multiple layers to the charm and the beauty of the place. Definitely unmissable and should be on everyone's itinerary !

Ecolodge is located at a quiet place away from the town. This is a lovely place with a bunch of amazingly friendly staff. Right place to take a break from the busy world and spend your time with nature and happiness. The rooms are well maintained, spacious and lovely.

The place is amazing!! The staff are amazing! Very friendly and welcoming people. The room is super comfortable and the view is breathtaking.we highly recommended this place. Also the food was very tasty and surprisingly. Don’t eat outside ☺️

If you ever feel numb and frustrated with a hectic lifestyle, this natural resort cradled by a valley, is good to heal the mind and soul. Facing each of the cottages is the Wangde zong- a majestic fortress that looks especially stunning in the night, when it is lit up. The rooms are spacious and cozy and emanate a rustic feel , with basic amenities like an electric kettle and the perfunctory tea bags and coffee sachets. If you are someone who is obsessed with a spotlessly clean bathroom, then you needn’t bother since they have you covered ; but don’t forget to bring your own toiletries. They have , however , running hot water to soothe ailing joints from a long day of trekking . The food is simple and home made from ingredients taken directly from their own vegetable garden, but is on the expensive side. The approach road to this property is offbeat and pretty bumpy at least for two kilometers. The surrounding greenery and wildlife especially the variety of birds you get to see early mornings are just phenomenal. The hosts are kind and genuine and treat you as one of their own.While Kezang is very professional managing the running of the property,his wife is a gifted cook,very efficiently helped by their closely knit family. Overall an enriching and soothing experience where people go out of their way to make you feel at home.

The food, the service, the view everything was excellent. The food was ingrown and fresh from the farm, the recipes- Bhutanese. Simple, nutritious and wholesome food. We came during the off season and I think that was an excellent decision, really got to enjoy the peace and quiet of the lodge. (Spend a night in Timphu, then Wangdue Ecolodge then proceed to Paro. (Rather than going back to Timphu. Please factor in that’s it about 45 mins from Punakha.)
