You can put the key in a small box and pick it up yourself. It is a little far away from the lake but there is no shelter, but a large green space, which is very comfortable! Just a few minutes drive from Wanaka's lone tree. Good body insurance! Good reviews

It's basically self-service, convenient, and you can reach the lake through a large lawn. It should be considered good among motels.

This motel has to be one of the best locations in Wānaka, an easy walk to restaurants shops and supermarket. The motel is located across the road from a large park, looking out to the lake, the units are extremely warm and well appointed. The owner is on site and readily available for anything you might need or any local information. This is our second stay at this motel and will definitely be back!

This is a nice, updated space. Close to the CBD. We had the 1 BR lake view room. But potential customers should know that the “view” will likely be marred by cars parked alongside the lake facing window. In our case it was someone’s boat and they were constantly doing things to the boat as it sat on its trailer. The lake is a good ways away although there are no houses between you and the lake-just a few parked cars, a large park and a few trees. The view of the mountains was quite nice although you have to close the blinds to block afternoon sun or if you want privacy. The other thing I’ll mention is, while the credit card surcharge is quite common in New Zealand, the 3% we were charged at Wanaka View is the highest I encountered during our month of travel.

Exceptional service! We originally booked a studio, which didn’t have a view as expected, but the lovely owner upgraded us to a larger room with stunning views. We could look out across the park to the beautiful Lake Wanaka. The motel’s location is perfect—just a short walk to the town center. Pip, the owner, gave us fantastic local tips on places to explore, including a drive to the Blue Pools and a hike up Mt. Iron, both of which were incredible. She also recommended dining at Hook, which we absolutely loved! Thanks so much, Pip! We can’t wait to come back next year.

Very good place to stay - clean, well maintained property and spacious room, reasonably priced; comfortable and quiet, would stay here again. Please note that this place offers different types of rooms - we spent the night in the basement suite, which does not have 'a view', or a kitchenette, but this is clearly highlighted when booking (on room selection). If any of these items is important for you, make sure you book one of the more expensive apartment-style rooms above. A guest laundry is available.

We loved our stay at the Wanaka View Motel. The rooms were very clean and updated, filled with everything we needed for our stay. We had a great view of the lake and were close enough to walk to everything we needed! There is a washer/dryer onsite, we were able to use the washer and then hang dry our clothes outside to dry, it was perfect. The owner was beyond kind, she helped us navigate the town and work out how to get to places since we didn't have a car. We definitely want to stay here again if we make it back to New Zealand!

Super clean, comfortable and a convenient location with restaurants, bars and supermarket just a short walk away. Hosts were friendly and welcoming. The kitchen in the unit was well appointed with a large fridge, stove and microwave. Great place!

We stayed in Chalet 1 which is a 3 bedroom apartment. Very comfortable and everything you need for a family. Apartment was clean and bedding was very comfortable. Thank you to Pip who gave us recommendations for things to do in Wanaka and restaurant recommendations. She is very knowledgeable about the South Island as a whole. Our plans changed due to a road closure and an extra night was needed and organised with ease. The views are stunning from this motel! In front of the motel is a park and the picture perfect lake. A lovely sight to see!

Loved this place as we were lucky to have one of the the front rooms facing the lake. It was very warm when we were there so the blinds were down during the day but once the sun went down, the view was lovely. Air con was great, The room was large with a separate bedroom, lounge/kitchen with new carpet and separate bathroom and toilet. Heavenly. The location is fantastic with a 5 min walk to the Main Street. We appreciated the use of the camping chairs to take to the lake front later in the afternoon. There is so much to like about this motel. 5 stars.

Whilst this is called Wanaka lake view, we were very disappointed to find our room was tucked away at the back with two narrow windows looking out onto a hedge close to them. It was very dark in the room and actually tricky to even know what the weather was doing outside! It appears that it is only room at the motel that is unfortunate in its position. The others all have big windows and more spacious. It’s easy to book as we did thinking we were in one of the front facing apartments. Unclear on website. The accommodation it’s self was sufficient ( though a tiny bathroom sink to wash any kitchen things in ) Staff were friendly and helpful. Location of actual motel was perfect. But being so near the beautiful lake and yet stuck into a very dark room was very frustrating. No where to sit outside the room either. I’m sure it’s cheaper than the other rooms, but really many more motels with 2 bed rooms with a much more pleasant outlook. Wish I’d read the reviews about the studio room before hand as others warn of finding the same problem. Wanaka itself very beautiful and the whole area well worth. Visit.
Response from Property: Dear Virginia, The studio is described as 'studio, basement, no view'. It is appropriately priced. There is no kitchen as it is a studio, but as a courtesy for the budget traveller we provide some basic eating equipment. The view is of a Garden and one of Wanaka Metalworks lovely sculptures. I do not believe there are any other motels with the unique view/proximity to Wanaka township that we have. It is a shame to give a bad review when you booked the wrong part of the property.
